ファイルを保存したストレージメディアは、前記のPCとは接続を解除し、別途確保された物理的な空間にて、たとえば2000枚、といった単位で保存されている。
アーカイブメディアをカテゴリまたはジャンル毎に容易に管理することができ、アーカイブメディアが故障しても他のアーカイブメディアから容易に複製することができる、といった特徴がある。
換言すれば、ファイルの管理者は、ファイルの再利用が後に可能であるように、検索できるような保存方法を要求されることとなる。
ストレージメディア(Α)へコピーまたは移動したいファイル(Y、Z)がPCのハードディスクに格納されているとする。その手順は、ストレージメディア(Α)をPCへ接続し(0)、初期設定をして(1)、PCにおいてストレージメディア(Α)のドライブを指定し(2)、ファイルのコピーまたは移動を実行する(3)。

「ファイル冗長化手段」における「冗長化」の趣旨は、メディアへファイルをコピーすることで当該ファイルのバックアップを作成する場合と、メディアへファイルを移動させることでファイルの移動元の記憶領域を増やす場合との両方を含むためである。
「メディアID」とは、メディアを一元的に管理するためのユニークな(唯一無二の)IDである。
「ファイル情報」とは、たとえば、ファイルを特定するためのファイル名、そのファイルの最終保存日時、データサイズなどである。
本発明に係るファイルおよびメディア管理装置には、ファイル管理のためのデータを格納するファイル管理データベースと、メディア管理のためのデータを格納するメディア管理データベースとが予め構築されている。

すなわち、ファイル(Y)のファイル名を、ファイルおよびメディア管理装置にて検索する。検索のために入力されたファイル名は、ファイル管理データベースへ蓄積されているので、ヒットする。そして、そのファイル管理データベースへ蓄積されているファイル情報には、メディアIDが紐付けされているので、そのメディアIDを手がかりとすれば、どのメディア(たとえばΑ,Β)にファイル(Y)が格納されているか、を知ることができる。

第二の発明に係るコンピュータプログラムは、記録媒体へ格納して提供することもできる。また、通信回線を介して提供することもできる。
ここで、「記録媒体」とは、それ自身では空間を占有し得ないコンピュータプログラムを担持することができる媒体であり、例えば、ハードディスク、CD-R、DVD-R、などである。

図2では、図1と対比させつつ本発明の概要を説明している。
PC(パーソナルコンピュータ)に内蔵されたハードディスク内にコピー(または移動)したいファイル(Y,Z)が格納されており、そのPCにはストレージメディア(Α,Β)が接続されている(0)。
ストレージメディアΑは、LTO装置であり、ストレージメディアΒは、DVDプレーヤにおいてドライブ可能となっているDVD-Rである。
ストレージメディア(Α,Β)がPCへ接続され、初期設定が完了したら(1)、ストレージメディア(Α,Β)に管理用ID(メディアID)を付与し、データベースへその旨を保存する(2)。
続いて、ファイルのコピー(または移動)を実行する(3)。ここでは、ファイル(Y)をストレージメディア(Α)へ、ファイル(Z)をストレージメディア(Β)へコピー(または移動)したとする。コピー(または移動)が完了したら、PCからストレージメディア(Α,Β)を外す。
図3は、図2にて説明したハードウェアについて、機能(手段)に分解してブロック図として表現したものである。
PCのメディアドライブ接続端子には、LTO装置(ストレージメディアΑ)と、ストレージメディア(Β)であるDVD-Rをドライブ可能としたDVDドライブとが接続されている。
PCへ接続されたストレージメディア(Α,Β)に対して、ファイルのコピーまたは移動が可能であるように、メディアをフォーマットするなどについては、初期設定手段が実行し、その初期設定データについては、データ記憶手段たるハードディスクに構築された初期設定データベースへ格納される。
ファイル(Y)をメディア(Α)へ、ファイル(Z)をメディア(Β)へ、それぞれ冗長化した旨は、メディア管理データベースおよびファイル管理データベースに保存されることとなる。
また、メディア(Β)にどのファイルを冗長化したか、を検索したい場合、メディア管理データベースおよびファイル管理データベースの記録によって特定できる。
従来技術(図1)では、PCに接続されていないメディアドライブへのファイル検索は行えなかった。
図3およびこれ以降の図における各種手段、例えば、初期設定手段、メディアID付与手段、メディア判定手段およびファイル冗長化手段(メディア情報記録手段、ファイル情報記録手段)の各処理は、ハードウェアとしての中央処理装置(CPU)とコンピュータプログラムとの協働によって実行される。初期設定手段、メディアID付与手段、メディア判定手段およびファイル冗長化手段(メディア情報記録手段、ファイル情報記録手段)は、コンピュータプログラムを読み込んで各種機能を実行する各種構成部と位置付けることもできる。また、データ記憶手段および管理DB記憶手段は、ハードウェアとしてのメモリに相当する。当該メモリは、RAM、HDD、フラッシュメモリ、MD等の如何なる形態のものでも良い。また、データ記憶手段および管理DB記憶手段は、読み出し専用のメモリで足る場合には、ROMでも良い。
図4に示す実施形態は、図3と、外観上は変わらない。
図3に示した実施形態では、PC内のハードディスクへ、各種のデータベースと、冗長化の対象となるファイルとが渾然と格納されていた。図4に示した実施形態では、PCのハードディスク内にパーティションを設定し、管理データベース記憶手段と、データ記憶手段とに分けている。
それ以外の相違点はないので、詳細な説明を省略する。
図5は、ストレージメディアΒであるDVD-Rのケースにコード(この実施形態ではバーコード)が付されており、そのコードをメディアIDとして流用しようという場合の実施形態である。
PCには、バーコードリーダが接続されており、そのバーコードリーダが読み取ったバーコードを、メディアIDとして使えるか否かを、メディアID付与手段がメディア管理データベースを用いて検証する。この検証のアルゴリズムは、図6に示している。
読み取られたバーコードと、メディア管理データベースにアクセスし、メディアIDとして既に使われているものが存在するかどうか、を検証する。既に使われているものが存在しないのであれば、読み取ったバーコードをメディアIDとして付与する。
存在する場合には、メディアID付与手段が、ユニークなIDを付与する。
図7に示す実施形態は、メディアIDを予めメディア毎に発行しておく場合を示している。すなわち、ファイルを格納するメディア(この実施形態ではDVD―R)のケース(DVDケース)へ予め付与しておくバーコードをシール台紙へ印刷するバーコードプリンタを、プリンタ接続端子を介してPCへ接続している。
メディアID付与手段は、メディア管理データベースにおいてまだ使われていないユニークなIDが印刷できるデジタルデータを、プリンタ接続端子を介してバーコードプリンタへ送る。バーコードプリンタにおいては、シール台紙へバーコードを印刷する。そのシール台紙からバーコードを剥離し、DVDケースへ貼付する。
図8に示す実施形態は、冗長化したいファイル(Y,Z)を格納したデータ記憶手段が、PCとは別のメディアである場合を示している。
すなわち、PCには、メディアドライブ接続端子が複数存在し、一つ目のメディアドライブ接続端子Aには、冗長化したいファイルを格納したデータ記憶手段を接続する。もう一つのメディアドライブ接続端子Aには、冗長化されるストレージメディア(Α)が接続される。
メディアドライブ接続端子Aに接続されたデータ記憶手段に格納されたファイル(Y,Z)におけるファイル情報は、メディアドライブ端子Aを介するものの、PCの管理データベース記憶手段へ構築されたファイル管理データベースへ格納される。
この実施形態によれば、PC内に格納されていないファイルであっても、冗長化およびその管理が行える。
図9は、本発明に係るコンピュータプログラム(通称「大宝恵」登録商標)をインストールすることによってファイルおよびメディア管理装置となったPCが、そのコンピュータプログラムを使用する場合のフローチャートである。
起動したらまず、多重起動をしていないかをチェックする。多重起動していた場合には、エラーメッセージを発して終了する。
初期設定画面において、初期設定情報が入力されれば、その初期設定情報は初期設定データベースへ格納するとともに、メニュー画面へ移る。
すなわち、LTO装置が接続状態であれば、アーカイブ情報の取込画面(図13)へ移る。この画面を用いて、ファイル名などを指定すれば、ファイル情報をファイル管理データベースから読み出すことができる。
メニュー画面において、「終了」ボタンをクリックすると、初期設定データベース、メディア管理データベース、ファイル管理データベースを複製(バックアップ)し、終了する。
図10は、本発明に係るコンピュータプログラムの実施形態におけるログイン画面である。ファイルをコピーしたメディアは、棚に並べて補完されるので、「メディア棚管理ソフト」と通称している。
図10で示されているように、ユーザIDとパスワードとを入力したユーザが、ログインすることができる。
図11は、メニュー画面を示す。
メニューとしては、アーカイブ情報取込、検索、初期設定、終了のボタンが用意されている。
図12は、メニュー画面において「初期設定」のボタンをクリックした場合に現れる初期設定画面である。
「USERID」のウィンドウには、ログインしたユーザ名が表示され、「最終更新日時」のウィンドウには、このメディア棚管理ソフトを用いてファイルおよびメディア管理を実行した最新の日時が表示される。
「USERIDとPASSWORDを変更」のボタンをクリックすれば、ログインの際に用いるユーザIDおよび/またはパスワードを変更できる。
「ドライブレター」のウィンドウには、このPCのオペレーティングシステム(OS)が割り当てたキャラクタ(「C」、「D」など)が選択できる。
図13は、メニュー画面において「アーカイブ情報取込」のボタンをクリックした場合に現れるアーカイブ情報取込画面を示す。メディア内のファイル情報をデータベースに反映する機能を果たす。メディア単位でのコメントを入力可能であり、その内容はデータベースに反映させることができる。
画面下における左の「アーカイブ情報登録」のボタンをクリックした場合には、この画面にて入力したコメントなどの情報を含んで、データベースが更新される。
画面下における中央付近の「CSV出力」のボタンをクリックした場合には、メディアからのメディア情報がCSV形式にて出力可能である。
図14は、実施形態におけるアーカイブ情報を読み込んだ画面の一例を示している。
画面の中央から下には、指定されたドライブレターに係るメディアへ格納されているファイルに関する情報が表示されている。
ファイル名、更新日時、データサイズが表形式で出力される。
図15は、メニュー画面において「検索」のボタンをクリックした場合に現れる検索画面を示す。データベースに登録されたアーカイブ情報(メディア)の検索を実行するための画面である。
画面の上に配置された複数のウィンドウへ各条件を入力し、画面の中央右に配置された「検索」のボタンをクリックすると、入力された条件からファイル管理データベースおよび/またはメディア管理データベースを検索し、検索結果を画面の下へ表示する。
図16は、図15の画面において検索条件を入力した後に、「検索」のボタンをクリックしたファイル検索の結果を例示している。
バーコード/管理番号、ボリュームラベル、メディア種別、取込日時、コメント、ファイル名、更新日時、データサイズ、などが画面の下半分へ一覧表示される。
なお、画面下の「CSV出力」のボタンをクリックした場合には、CSV形式にて出力可能である。
図17は、メディア情報を検索した結果を例示したものである。
バーコード/管理番号、ボリュームラベル、メディア種別、取込日時、コメントなどが画面の下半分へ一覧表示される。
この一覧表示についても、画面下の「CSV出力」のボタンをクリックした場合には、CSV形式にて出力可能である。
Claims (7)
- ファイルを保存するメディア毎にユニークなメディアIDを割り当ててそのメディアIDを基準としてファイル管理およびメディア管理を実行するファイルおよびメディア管理装置であって、
ファイル管理のためのデータを格納するファイル管理データベースと、
メディア管理のためのデータを格納するメディア管理データベースと、
ファイルを保存するメディアドライブと接続するためのメディアドライブ接続手段へ接続されたメディアドライブにおけるメディアへメディアIDを付与するメディアID付与手段と、
前記のメディアドライブ接続手段を介してファイルを冗長化するためのファイル冗長化手段と、
を備え、
前記のメディア管理データベースは、前記のメディアID付与手段が付与したメディアIDを蓄積し、
前記のファイル冗長化手段がファイルを冗長化する場合には、当該ファイルを特定するためのファイル情報を前記のファイル管理データベースへ蓄積するとともに、
当該ファイルが冗長化されたメディアを特定するためのメディアIDを前記のファイル情報へ紐付けることとしたファイルおよびメディア管理装置。 - コードが予め付与されているメディアの当該コードを読み取るコードリーダを備え、
前記のメディアID付与手段は、前記のコードリーダが読み取ったコードがユニークであるか否かを前記のメディア管理データベースへアクセスして検証してからメディアIDを付与することとした請求項1に記載のファイルおよびメディア管理装置。 - 前記のメディアIDをプリントするIDプリンタと接続されるプリンタ接続端子を備え、
前記のメディアID付与手段は、プリントすべきメディアIDを前記のプリンタ接続端子へ送信するとともに、
送信したメディアIDを前記メディア管理データベースへ蓄積することとした請求項1または請求項2のいずれかに記載のファイルおよびメディア管理装置。 - 前記のメディアドライブ接続手段とは異なるドライブ接続手段を備え、
そのドライブ接続手段へ前記のファイル冗長化手段が冗長化する前のファイルを格納するデータ保存手段を接続することとした請求項1から請求項3のいずれかに記載のファイルおよびメディア管理装置。 - ファイルを保存するメディア毎にユニークなメディアIDを割り当ててそのメディアIDを基準としてファイル管理およびメディア管理を実行するファイルおよびメディア管理装置へインストールされるコンピュータプログラムであって、
ファイル管理のためのデータを格納するファイル管理データベースを構築するファイル管理データベース作成手順と、
メディア管理のためのデータを格納するメディア管理データベースを構築するメディア管理データベース作成手順と、
ファイルを保存するメディアドライブと接続するためのメディアドライブ接続手段へ接続されたメディアドライブにおけるメディアへメディアIDを付与するメディアID付与手順と、
前記のメディアドライブ接続手段を介してファイルを冗長化するためのファイル冗長化手順と、
前記のメディアID付与手順にて付与されたメディアIDをメディア管理データベースへ蓄積するメディアID蓄積手順と、
前記のファイル冗長化手順にてファイルを冗長化する場合に当該ファイルを特定するためのファイル情報を前記のファイル管理データベースへ蓄積するファイル情報蓄積手順と、
当該ファイルが冗長化されたメディアを特定するためのメディアIDを前記のファイル情報へ紐付けるファイル情報紐付け手順と、
をファイルおよびメディア管理装置に実行させることとしたコンピュータプログラム。 - コードが予め付与されているメディアの当該コードを読み取るコードリーダを前記のファイルおよびメディア管理装置が備えている場合において、
前記のメディアID付与手順は、前記のコードリーダが読み取ったコードがユニークであるか否かを前記のメディア管理データベースへアクセスして検証してからメディアIDを付与することとした請求項5に記載のコンピュータプログラム。 - 前記のメディアIDをプリントするIDプリンタと接続されるプリンタ接続端子を前記のファイルおよびメディア管理装置が備えている場合において、
前記のメディアID付与手順は、プリントすべきメディアIDを前記のプリンタ接続端子へ送信するとともに、送信したメディアIDを前記メディア管理データベースへ蓄積することとした請求項5または請求項6のいずれかに記載のコンピュータプログラム。
