Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a cylinder head which allows an efficient combustion process but does not bend despite the effect of the loads that it is subjected to during combustion.
  • Internal combustion engines which have a very wide area of use in industry at present are particularly indispensable for automotive industry.
  • Internal combustion engines are engines which burn the suitable fuel and convert the chemical energy inherent in the fuel to mechanical energy. Different from the steam engines, an internal combustion engine generates energy by burning or oxidizing the fuel within the combustion chamber (cylinder) provided in the engine.
  • Common fuels of these engines are gasoline and diesel, and the engines are named as gasoline or diesel engines.
  • Diesel engines Internal combustion engines are commonly used for mobile drive on vehicles and in movable machines. It provides high power- weight ratio in addition to high fuel density particularly in mobile equipment. These machines, wherein generally fossil fuels are consumed, are used in almost all motor vehicles. Engines are divided into many classes depending on their power, and they are continuously used in land vehicles such as automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, etc. at different powers and cylinder diameters. In heavy commercial vehicles generally, the use of diesel engines is preferred. Diesel engines include many parts; in the general sense, they comprise a cylinder head (cylinder block), engine block, pistons and crank shaft. There are cylinders provided at the upper part of the engine under the cylinder head. The cylinder head covers the upper part of the engine, thereby aiding in conversion of the combustion taking place in the cylinder to mechanical energy.
  • the said cylinder head in other words the cylinder block, is the engine part which is produced such that it will cover the engine block from the top upon placing a cylinder cover gasket between it and the engine block.
  • the oil pan provides housing for the oil required during operation of the engine.
  • Chinese utility model document no. CN203441615 (U), an application known in the state of the art, discloses a cylinder block and cylinder head connecting structure.
  • a design change is made by lengthening the bolt and the bolt hole which enables connection of the cylinder head and the engine block.
  • deformations due to over-screwing are prevented and a reliable cylinder head - engine block connection with high rigidity and long service life is achieved.
  • no strengthening rib is used. For that reason, no regional rigidity is formed and the leakages that might occur by time cannot be prevented.
  • An objective of the present invention is to provide a cylinder head which increases the total amount of power to be obtained from the engine due to the increase in combustion efficiency.
  • Another objective of the present invention is to provide a cylinder head gasket which is not excessively complex because it will stretch less despite the load it is subjected to.
  • a further objective of the present invention is to provide a cylinder head which will contribute to reduction of the total engine cost since the same function will be carried out with fewer number of bolt hardware.
  • the present invention is a cylinder head which allows an efficient combustion process but does not bend despite the loads it is subjected to during combustion, and which also, differing from the state of the art, enables to use fewer number of bolts upon providing a regional rigidity by means of the strengthening ribs it comprises and thus enables to reduce the cost.
  • Figure 1 is a sectional view of cylinder head.
  • Figure 2. is a perspective of the cylinder head together with the engine block.
  • Figure 3. is a magnified view of the region A shown in Figure 2.
  • the cylinder head (1) which allows an efficient combustion process but does not bend despite the effect of the loads that it is subjected to during combustion, basically comprises
  • At least one intake port (2) which is opened at a specific angle with respect to the crank axis (N) in order to allow entrance of the air-fuel mixture required for combustion into the cylinder, and which comprises intake port inclination (2.1) at certain parts thereof,
  • At least one exhaust port (3) which is formed to transfer the exhaust gases resulting from combustion from the cylinder to the outer environment, and which is opened at a specific angle with respect to the crank axis (N) and comprises exhaust port inclination (3.1) at certain parts thereof,
  • At least one fixing bolt (4) which enables the cylinder head (1) to be fixed to the engine block (M) and to remain fixed
  • At least one gasket (7) which is located between the cylinder head (1) and the engine block (M), and which is tightened by the fixing bolts (4) and thus provides sealing
  • At least one water line (8) which is passed through certain parts of the cylinder head (1) in order to prevent the heat released as a result of the combustion in the cylinder from damaging the cylinder head (1) and the engine block (M), and which is used for cooling the cylinder head (1), at least one oil gallery (9) wherein the oil used for lubricating the moveable parts is stored.
  • the cylinder head (1) provided in one embodiment of the invention comprises at least one intake port (2).
  • the intake port (2) is provided on the cylinder head (1) with the purpose of delivering the air fuel mixture into the cylinder.
  • the intake port (2) is positioned at a specific angle with respect to the crank axis (N) instead of being positioned parallel to the crank axis (N) as it was in the prior art.
  • the intake port (2) also has an intake port inclination (2.1).
  • the cylinder head (1) comprises an exhaust port (3) formed to transfer the gases resulting in the cylinder due to the combustion to the outer environment.
  • the exhaust port (3) is also positioned at an angle with respect to the crank axis (N) like the intake port (2), and it comprises an exhaust port inclination (3.1).
  • the intake port (2) and the exhaust port (3) are preferably positioned at an angle with respect to the crank axis (N). In this embodiment of the invention, there are preferably two intake ports (2) and two exhaust ports (3).
  • fixing bolts (4) on the cylinder head (1) which provide the connection with the engine block (M).
  • connection of the cylinder head (1) and the engine block (M) with each other is provided.
  • the distributed force arising as a result of the combustion taking place in the cylinders acts on the cylinder head (1) at different powers depending on the diameter of the cylinder.
  • the said force acting on the cylinder head (1) is received by the fixing bolts (4) which provide the connection between the cylinder head (1) and the engine block (M). For this reason, the fixing bolts (4) are aimed to receive the highest possible force with the fewest number of bolts.
  • Sealing is also provided by means of the gasket (7) provided between the cylinder head (1) and the engine block (M).
  • this gasket (7) is also tightened between the cylinder head (1) and the engine block (M), and the fixing bolts (4) do not stretch as they are reinforced by strengthening ribs (6) and thus no leakage occurs between the cylinder head (1) and the engine block (M).
  • the heat released as a result of the combustion taking place in the cylinder is cooled by means of the water line (8) passing through the cylinder head (1).
  • the water travelling within the water line (8) does not leak either. It is the same case with the oil in the oil gallery (9), i.e. the oil within the oil gallery does not leak since there will be no leakage between the cylinder head (1) and the engine block (M) thanks to the strengthening ribs (6).
