Therefore, the signal processing device periodically effectuates updating of the transponder list irrespective of the successful signal lock verification in relation to all of the present channels.
  • the signal processing device connects to the dedicated remote server each time before initiation of the manual or scheduled automatic scan function is to be effected. More preferably, the signal processing device automatically connects to the remote server in a periodical manner to update the transponder list and automatically initiates channel retrieving operation only if an updated transponder list is available.
  • the signal processing device keeps record of all of the previous transponder lists as downloaded from the remote server and in the event that an existing channel becomes unavailable and no transponder list update is available or a temporary interruption of Internet connectivity is in question, the transponder information stored in the earlier transponder lists is used to check whether older transponder parameters in relation to a given channel provide signal lock. This is especially advantageous in cases where new parameters are replaced by previous parameters, a situation observable on an infrequent basis.
  • the present invention ensures that the channel information retrieving operation carried out without intervention of the user is a stage during which the signal processing device also automatically updates transponders and accordingly retrieves associated channels.
  • the present invention proposes a signal processing device receiving a plurality of broadcasting services and comprising a digital TV processor and at least one tuner in association with a demodulator which supply transport streams, the signal processing device being further able to communicate with a display unit.
  • the digital TV processor is configured to periodically effect initiation of a transponder list updating operation by connecting to a dedicated remote server through a network connection irrespective of whether the most recent auto-scan or blind scan operation was terminated with no signal lock failure notifications or whether successful signal lock verification for all of the channels was obtained, whereby an updated transponder list is retrieved before a signal lock failure occurs.
  • the signal processing device connects to the remote server each time before initiation of the manual or scheduled automatic scan function is to be effected.
  • the signal processing device automatically connects to the remote server in a periodical manner to update the transponder list and automatically initiates channel retrieving operation if an updated transponder list is available.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de traitement de signaux ayant une fonction de mise à jour de liste de transpondeurs qui, lorsqu'elle est appelée, exécute une mise à jour de la liste de transpondeurs de façon périodique. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention propose un dispositif de traitement de signaux recevant une pluralité de services de diffusion et comprenant un processeur de télévision numérique et au moins un premier syntoniseur en association avec un démodulateur qui fournissent des flux de transport, le dispositif de traitement de signaux étant apte en outre à communiquer avec une unité d'affichage.
