ショート不良が生じ難い電気二重層コンデンサを提供する。 電解質含有層13は、第1の分極性電極層11b及び第2の分極性電極層12bとの間に設けられている。絶縁性接着部15は、少なくとも一部同士が電解質含有層13を介して対向する第1の集電体11aと第2の集電体12aとを接着している。絶縁性接着部15は、第1及び第2の分極性電極層11b、12bと電解質含有層13との周囲に設けられている。電解質含有層13の厚みが、絶縁性接着部15の厚みと第1及び第2の分極性電極層11b、12bの厚みとの差分よりも大きい。

Description

蓄電デバイス
 本発明は、蓄電デバイスに関する。
 特許文献1に記載の蓄電デバイスは、第1の端面に引き出された第1の内部電極と、第2の端面に引き出された第2の内部電極と、第1の内部電極と第2の内部電極との間に配されたセパレータとを備えている。第1の端面の上には、第1の内部電極に電気的に接続された第1の外部電極が配されている。第2の端面の上には、第2の内部電極に電気的に接続された第2の外部電極が配されている。特許文献1に記載の電気二重層コンデンサは、実装基板に実装し得るという利点を有している。
国際公開第2014/083919号
 特許文献1に記載のような電気二重層コンデンサにおいて、ショート不良が発生することを抑制したいという要望がある。
 本発明の主な目的は、ショート不良が生じ難い電気二重層コンデンサを提供することにある。
 本発明に係る蓄電デバイスは、デバイス本体を備えている。デバイス本体は、第1及び第2の主面と、第1及び第2の側面と、第1及び第2の端面とを有する。第1及び第2の主面は、長さ方向及び幅方向に沿って延びている。第1及び第2の側面は、長さ方向及び厚み方向に沿って延びている。第1及び第2の端面は、幅方向及び厚み方向に沿って延びている。デバイス本体は、第1の内部電極と、第2の内部電極と、電解質含有層と、絶縁性接着部とを有する。第1の内部電極は、第1の集電体と、第1の分極性電極層とを有する。第1の内部電極は、少なくとも第1の集電体が第1の端面に引き出されている。第1の分極性電極層は、第1の集電体の両面の少なくとも一方の上に設けられている。第2の内部電極は、第2の集電体と、第2の分極性電極層とを有する。第2の内部電極は、少なくとも第2の集電体が第2の端面に引き出されている。第2の分極性電極層は、第2の集電体の両面の少なくとも一方の上に設けられている。電解質含有層は、第1の分極性電極層及び第2の分極性電極層との間に設けられている。絶縁性接着部は、少なくとも一部同士が電解質含有層を介して対向する第1の集電体と第2の集電体とを接着している。絶縁性接着部は、第1及び第2の分極性電極層と電解質含有層との周囲に設けられている。電解質含有層の厚みが、絶縁性接着部の厚みと第1及び第2の分極性電極層の厚みとの差分よりも大きい。このため、第1の内部電極と第2の内部電極の接触を効果的に抑制することができる。従って、本発明に係る蓄電デバイスでは、ショート不良が発生し難い。
 本発明に係る蓄電デバイスでは、第1及び第2の主面の少なくとも一方の中央部が凸面により構成されていることが好ましい。この場合、凸面が上方を向くように実装基板に実装したときに、実装基板のランドから蓄電デバイスの端面の上端までの距離が短くなる。このため、ESRを低減することができる。すなわち、この構成によれば、ショート不良の発生を抑制しつつ、ESRの上昇を抑制することができる。また、この場合、デバイス本体の端面の面積を小さくすることができる。従って、デバイス本体の端面からデバイス本体内に水分が侵入しにくい。
 本発明によれば、ショート不良が生じ難い電気二重層コンデンサを提供することができる。
図1は、第1の実施形態に係る蓄電デバイスの模式的斜視図である。 図2は、図1の線II-IIにおける模式的断面図である。 図3は、第1の実施形態に係る蓄電デバイスの第1及び第2の外部電極を除いた部分の模式的断面図である。 図4は、第2の実施形態に係る蓄電デバイスの第1及び第2の外部電極を除いた部分の模式的断面図である。
 以下、本発明を実施した好ましい形態の一例について説明する。但し、下記の実施形態は、単なる例示である。本発明は、下記の実施形態に何ら限定されない。
 また、実施形態等において参照する各図面において、実質的に同一の機能を有する部材は同一の符号で参照することとする。また、実施形態等において参照する図面は、模式的に記載されたものである。図面に描画された物体の寸法の比率などは、現実の物体の寸法の比率などとは異なる場合がある。図面相互間においても、物体の寸法比率等が異なる場合がある。具体的な物体の寸法比率等は、以下の説明を参酌して判断されるべきである。
 (第1の実施形態)
 図1は、本実施形態に係る蓄電デバイスの模式的斜視図である。図2は、図1の線II-IIにおける模式的断面図である。図3は、第1の実施形態に係る蓄電デバイスの第1及び第2の外部電極を除いた部分の模式的断面図である。
 図1~図3に示す蓄電デバイス1は、例えば、電気二重層コンデンサや、二次電池を構成するデバイスである。
 蓄電デバイス1は、デバイス本体10を備えている。デバイス本体10は、第1及び第2の主面10a、10bと、第1及び第2の側面10c、10dと、第1及び第2の端面10e、10fとを有する。第1及び第2の主面10a、10bは、それぞれ、長さ方向L及び幅方向Wに沿って延びている。第1の主面10aと第2の主面10bとは、厚み方向Tにおいて対向している。第1及び第2の側面10c、10dは、それぞれ、長さ方向L及び厚み方向Tに沿って延びている。第1の側面10cと第2の側面10dとは、幅方向Wにおいて対向している。第1及び第2の端面10e、10fのそれぞれは、幅方向W及び厚み方向Tに沿って延びている。第1の端面10eと第2の端面10fとは、長さ方向Lにおいて対向している。本実施形態では、デバイス本体10は、略直方体状に設けられている。
 図2に示すように、デバイス本体10は、複数の第1の内部電極11と、複数の第2の内部電極12とを有する。第1及び第2の内部電極11,12は、厚み方向Tに沿って交互に設けられている。
 第1の内部電極11は、第1及び第2の主面10a、10bと平行に設けられている。第1の内部電極11の少なくとも一部は、第1の端面10eに引き出されている。具体的には、本実施形態では、第1の内部電極11のうち、後述する第1の集電体11aが第1の端面10eに引き出されている。第1の内部電極11は、第2の端面10f並びに第1及び第2の側面10c、10dには引き出されていない。
 第1の内部電極11は、第1の集電体11aと、第1の分極性電極層11bとを有する。第1の分極性電極層11bは、第1の集電体11aの少なくとも一方側の表面の上に設けられている。本実施形態では、第1の集電体11aの一方の面の上に、第1の分極性電極層11bが設けられている。
 第1の集電体11aは、例えば、アルミニウム、銅等の少なくとも一種の金属からなる金属箔により構成することができる。
 第1の分極性電極層11bは、活性炭などの炭素材料を含むことが好ましい。
 第2の内部電極12は、第1及び第2の主面10a、10bと平行に設けられている。第2の内部電極12の少なくとも一部は、第2の端面10fに引き出されている。具体的には、本実施形態では、第2の内部電極12のうち、少なくとも第2の集電体12aが第2の端面10fに引き出されている。第2の内部電極12は、第1の端面10e並びに第1及び第2の側面10c、10dには引き出されていない。
 第2の内部電極12は、第2の集電体12aと、第2の分極性電極層12bとを有する。第2の分極性電極層12bは、第2の集電体12aの少なくとも一方側の表面の上に設けられている。本実施形態では、第2の集電体12aの一方の面の上に、第2の分極性電極層12bが設けられている。
 第2の集電体12aは、例えば、アルミニウム、銅等の少なくとも一種の金属からなる金属箔により構成することができる。
 この場合、第2の分極性電極層12bは、活性炭などの炭素材料を含むことが好ましい。
 第1の分極性電極層11bと第2の分極性電極層12bとの間には、電解質含有層13が設けられている。第1の分極性電極層11bと第2の分極性電極層12bとは、電解質含有層13を介して対向している。
 電解質含有層13は、電解質を含有している。電解質含有層13は、電解質を含有したゲルにより構成されていることが好ましい。ゲルとしては、例えば、高分子ポリエチレンオキサイド系樹脂等を用いることができる。
 デバイス本体10は、機能部10Aと、外装体10Bとを有する。機能部10Aは、蓄電デバイスとしての機能を発現する部分である。機能部10Aは、上述した第1及び第2の内部電極11,12並びに電解質含有層13を備えている。
 外装体10Bは、機能部10Aの外表面の一部を覆っている。具体的には、外装体10Bは、機能部10Aの第1及び第2の主面並びに第1及び第2の側面を覆っている。機能部10Aの第1及び第2の端面は、外装体10Bから露出している。従って、第1及び第2の主面10a、10b並びに第1及び第2の側面10c、10dは、外装体10Bにより構成されている。第1及び第2の端面10e、10fは、機能部10Aと外装体10Bとにより構成されている。
 第1の端面10eの上には、第1の外部電極18が設けられている。第1の外部電極18は、第1の内部電極11に電気的に接続されている。第1の外部電極18は、第1の電極膜18aと、第1の金属キャップ18bとを有する。
 第1の電極膜18aは、第1の内部電極11に接続されている。第1の電極膜18aは、第1の端面10eを覆うように設けられている。詳細には、第1の電極膜18aは、第1の端面10eの実質的に全体を覆っている。第1の電極膜18aは、第1及び第2の主面10a、10b並びに第1及び第2の側面10c、10dの上には位置していない。
 第1の金属キャップ18bは、デバイス本体10の第1の端面10e側の部分を覆っている。具体的には、第1の金属キャップ18bは、第1の端面10eと、第1及び第2の主面10a、10b並びに第1及び第2の側面10c、10dのそれぞれの第1の端面10e側の部分を覆っている。
 第1の金属キャップ18bは、第1の電極膜18aに電気的に接続されている。
 第2の端面10fの上には、第2の外部電極19が設けられている。第2の外部電極19は、第2の内部電極12に電気的に接続されている。第2の外部電極19は、第2の電極膜19aと、第2の金属キャップ19bとを有する。
 第2の電極膜19aは、第2の内部電極12に接続されている。第2の電極膜19aは、第2の端面10fを覆うように設けられている。詳細には、第2の電極膜19aは、第2の端面10fの実質的に全体を覆うように設けられている。第2の電極膜19aは、第1及び第2の主面10a、10b並びに第1及び第2の側面10c、10dの上には位置していない。
 第2の金属キャップ19bは、デバイス本体10の第2の端面10f側の部分を覆っている。具体的には、第2の金属キャップ19bは、第2の端面10eと、第1及び第2の主面10a、10b並びに第1及び第2の側面10c、10dのそれぞれの第2の端面10f側の部分を覆っている。
 第2の金属キャップ19bは、第2の電極膜19aに電気的に接続されている。
 本実施形態では、第1及び第2の電極膜18a、19aは、それぞれ、溶射膜により構成されている。第1及び第2の電極膜18a、19aは、例えば、AlやAl合金等により構成することができる。
 第1及び第2の金属キャップ18b、19bは、それぞれ、例えば、Fe-Ni合金、Cu-Zn合金、Cu-Zn-Ni合金、Al等により構成することができる。第1及び第2の金属キャップ18b、19bの外表面に、めっき膜が設けられていてもよい。めっき膜は、例えば、Ni/Agめっき膜、Ni/Auめっき膜、Ni/Snめっき膜等であってもよい。
 蓄電デバイス1では、式1に示すとおり、電解質含有層13の厚みが、絶縁性接着部15の厚みと第1及び第2の分極性電極層11b、12bの厚みとの差分よりも大きい。

 b1:第1の分極性電極層11bの厚み
 b2:第2の分極性電極層12bの厚み
 c:電解質含有層13の厚み
 このため、第1の内部電極11と第2の内部電極12との間の距離を長くすることができる。よって、第1の内部電極11と第2の内部電極12とが接触しにくい。従って、蓄電デバイス1では、ショート不良が発生し難い。
 蓄電デバイス1においてショート不良が発生することをより効果的に抑制する観点からは、電解質含有層13の厚みが、絶縁性接着部15の厚みと第1及び第2の分極性電極層11b、12bの厚みとの差分の1.1倍以上であることが好ましい。但し、電解質含有層13が厚すぎると、蓄電デバイス1のESRが高くなりすぎる場合がある。従って、電解質含有層13の厚みは、絶縁性接着部15の厚みと第1及び第2の分極性電極層11b、12bの厚みとの差分の1.3倍以下であることがより好ましい。
 ところで、第1の内部電極11と第2の内部電極12との間の距離を長くすると、第1の内部電極11と第2の内部電極12との間の電気抵抗が高くなる。このため、蓄電デバイスのESRが高くなる傾向にある。蓄電デバイス1では、c>a-b1-b2が満たされるため、図2に示すように、機能部10Aの第1及び第2の主面10A1,10A2の少なくとも一方の中央部が凸面により構成されている。また、絶縁性接着部15の外側には電解質含有層13が設けられていない。このため、機能部10Aの長さ方向Lにおける中央の断面積よりも、端面10e、10fにおける機能部10Aの面積の方が小さい。よって、機能部10Aの端面から、機能部10A内に水分が侵入することが効果的に抑制されている。
 蓄電デバイス1では、第1の主面10aの平坦度が、第1の主面10A1の平坦度よりも高い。第2の主面10bの平坦度が、第2の主面10A2の平坦度よりも高い。第1及び第2の主面10a、10bは、実質的に平坦面により構成されている。このため、例えば、蓄電デバイス1を実装する際に、吸着マウンター等により吸着しやすい。
 外装体10Bと機能部10Aとの間には、補強材10Cが配されている。この補強材10Cにより蓄電デバイス1の強度が高められている。従って、マウンターを用いて蓄電デバイスをマウントする際に蓄電デバイス1が破損しにくい。
 補強材10Cは、例えば、ポリイミド、エポキシ樹脂、フェノール樹脂などの熱硬化性樹脂等により構成することができる。
 以下、本発明の好ましい実施形態の他の例について説明する。以下の説明において、上記第1の実施形態と実質的に共通の機能を有する部材を共通の符号で参照し、説明を省略する。
 (第2の実施形態)
 図4は、第2の実施形態に係る蓄電デバイスの第1及び第2の外部電極を除いた部分の模式的断面図である。
 第1の実施形態では、第1及び第2の主面10a、10bの両方の中央部が凸面により構成されている例について説明した。但し、本発明は、この構成に限定されない。例えば、第1及び第2の主面10a、10bの一方のみの中央部が凸面により構成されていてもよい。この場合、第1及び第2の主面10a、10bのうちの凸面である方が上方を向くように実装基板に実装したときに、実装基板のランドから蓄電デバイスの端面の上端までの距離が短くなる。このため、ESRを低減することができる。

Claims (2)

  1.  長さ方向及び幅方向に沿って延びる第1及び第2の主面と、前記長さ方向及び厚み方向に沿って延びる第1及び第2の側面と、前記幅方向及び前記厚み方向に沿って延びる第1及び第2の端面とを有するデバイス本体を備え、
     前記デバイス本体は、
     第1の集電体と、前記第1の集電体の両面の少なくとも一方の上に設けられた第1の分極性電極層とを有し、少なくとも前記第1の集電体が前記第1の端面に引き出された第1の内部電極と、
     第2の集電体と、前記第2の集電体の両面の少なくとも一方の上に設けられた第2の分極性電極層とを有し、少なくとも前記第2の集電体が前記第2の端面に引き出された第2の内部電極と、
     前記第1の分極性電極層及び前記第2の分極性電極層との間に設けられている電解質含有層と、
     少なくとも一部同士が前記電解質含有層を介して対向する前記第1の集電体と前記第2の集電体とを接着しており、前記第1及び第2の分極性電極層と前記電解質含有層との周囲に設けられた絶縁性接着部と、
     を有し、
     前記電解質含有層の厚みが、前記絶縁性接着部の厚みと前記第1及び第2の分極性電極層の厚みとの差分よりも大きい、蓄電デバイス。
  2.  前記第1及び第2の主面の少なくとも一方の中央部が凸面により構成されている、請求項1に記載の蓄電デバイス。
