Abstract
生体センサ(100)は、その使用時に、被検体としての生体に装着される。当該生体センサは、生体に対して光を照射する発光部(11)と、少なくとも生体の一の部位の筋肉からの戻り光を受光する受光部(12)と、受光された戻り光に応じた受光部からの検出信号に基づいて、一の部位の筋肉の変形に関する情報を出力する出力部(13)と、を備える。
Description
本発明は、生体センサに関し、特に、光技術を用いて生体の状態を測定する生体センサの技術分野に関する。
この種の装置として、例えば、酸素飽和度と発揮筋力との相関関係を示す相関テーブルから、推定された被験者の筋肉の血中の酸素飽和度の最小値に対応する発揮筋力を発揮する装置が提案されている(特許文献1参照)。
或いは、装着バンドにより被験者の腕に固定される装置であって、筋肉の収縮状態に応じて変化する押し部材を有し、該押し部材の移動変位に対応した検出信号を出力する装置が提案されている(特許文献2参照)。
特許文献1に記載の技術では、一定期間の筋収縮により低下する(即ち、変化が現れる)酸素飽和度をモニタリングしているため、瞬間的な筋肉の収縮を検出することができないという技術的問題点がある。特許文献2に記載の技術では、装着バンドが被験者の腕に巻きつけられるので、例えば主動筋の動きと拮抗筋の動きとが合わさった収縮が検出され、個々の筋肉の収縮を検出することができないという技術的問題点がある。
また、体表面の電位を計測する筋電計は、センサの取り付けに手間と注意が必要であり、加えて、微弱電位を検出するための高精度な検出回路が必要であるという技術的問題点がある。
本発明は、例えば上記問題点に鑑みてなされたものであり、個々の筋肉の動作を検出でき、取り付けや構成が簡便な生体センサを提供することを課題とする。
本発明の生体センサは、上記課題を解決するために、被検体としての生体に装着される生体センサであって、前記生体に対して光を照射する発光部と、少なくとも前記生体の一の部位の筋肉からの戻り光を受光する受光部と、前記受光された戻り光に応じた前記受光部からの検出信号に基づいて、前記一の部位の筋肉の変形に関する情報を出力する出力部と、を備える。
本発明の作用及び他の利得は次に説明する実施するための形態から明らかにされる。
本発明の生体センサに係る実施形態を説明する。
実施形態に係る生体センサは、被検体としての生体に装着される生体センサであって、該生体に対して光を照射する発光部と、少なくとも生体の一の部位の筋肉からの戻り光を受光する受光部と、該受光された戻り光に応じた前記受光部からの検出信号に基づいて、一の部位の筋肉の変形に関する情報を出力する出力部と、を備える。
当該生体センサは、その使用時に生体に装着される。ここで、生体センサは、例えばバンド等の専用の装着部材によって生体に装着されてもよいし、例えば医療用の紙テープ等によって生体に装着されてもよい。
発光部は、波長が、例えば660μm~940μmの光(赤色光~赤外光)等を出射する。尚、発光部から出射される光の波長は、上記の波長に限らず、例えば測定対象に応じて適宜設定されてよい。受光部は、少なくとも生体の一の部位の筋肉からの戻り光を受光する。
例えばメモリ、プロセッサ等を備えてなる出力部は、受光部からの検出信号に基づいて、一の部位の筋肉の変形に関する情報を出力する。
具体的には、一の部位の筋肉が収縮すると、該筋肉が伸長している場合(弛緩時)に比べて、発光部及び受光部間の物理的な距離が縮まると共に、筋肉圧が増加する。この結果、一の部位の筋肉の収縮時には、該筋肉の伸長時に比べて受光部により受光される戻り光の量が増加する(つまり、検出信号の信号レベルが上がる)。
従って、出力部は、例えば検出信号の信号レベルを示す情報を、一の部位の筋肉の変形に関する情報として出力する。
本実施形態に係る生体センサによれば、一の部位の筋肉からの戻り光に基づいて、該筋肉の変形に関する情報が出力されるので、一の部位の筋肉の瞬間的な変化をも検出可能である。加えて、受光部は、当該生体センサに最も近い筋肉(ここでは、一の部位の筋肉)からの戻り光を最も多く受光するので、該受光部からの検出信号は、当該生体センサに最も近い筋肉の変形の影響が支配的である。つまり、当該生体センサによれば、一の部位の筋肉の変形のみを検出することができる。
更に、当該生体センサは、筋肉の変形を光学的に検出するため、体表面の微弱電位を測定する筋電計に比べて、構成を簡便にすることができると共に、取り扱いを容易にすることができる。
本実施形態に係る生体センサの一態様では、出力部は、検出信号の信号レベルの増加を、一の部位の筋肉の収縮と判定する。
この態様によれば、比較的容易にして、一の部位の筋肉の変形を検出することができ、実用上非常に有利である。
本実施形態に係る生体センサの他の態様では、発光部及び受光部は、柔軟性を有する部材上に配置されている。
この態様によれば、部材上における発光部及び受光部間の距離を一定に保つことができるので、当該生体センサによる測定結果に再現性を持たせることができると共に、当該生体センサを生体に容易に取り付けることができる。
本実施形態に係る生体センサの他の態様では、検出信号に含まれる所定周期より長い周期を有する信号成分を減衰させる減衰手段を更に備える。
検出信号には、例えば心拍出量の変化等の生理反応の影響が含まれることが、本願発明者の研究により判明している。検出信号に含まれる生理反応の影響(即ち、信号の生理反応に係る成分)は、筋肉の変化に起因する検出信号の変動周期に比べて長い。
そこで本実施形態では、減衰手段により、検出信号に含まれる所定周期より長い周期を有する信号成分が減衰される。従って、この態様によれば、一の部位の筋肉の変形を好適に検出することができる。
本発明の生体センサに係る実施例を、図面に基づいて説明する。尚、以下の実施例では、被検体が自転車のペダリングをしているものとする。
実施例に係る生体センサの構成について、図1を参照して説明する。図1は、実施例に係る生体センサの概要を示すブロック図である。
図1(a)において、生体センサ100は、発光部11、受光部12、演算部13及び表示部14を備えて構成されている。
発光部11は、例えばLED(Light Emitting Diode)等の発光素子を有している。発光部11から出射される光の波長は、例えば測定対象に応じて適宜設定されてよい。
受光部12は、例えばPD(Photodioe)等の受光素子を有している。発光部12は、被検体としての生体の測定対象の筋肉からの戻り光を、少なくとも受光する。ここで、「戻り光」は、典型的には、生体により散乱又は反射された光を意味する。受光部12は、本発明に係る「受光された戻り光に応じた検出信号」としての、生体信号を出力する。
演算部13は、図1(b)に示すように、バンドパスフィルタ131及び正規化部132を備えて構成されている。演算部13の動作の詳細については後述する。
ここで、当該生体センサ100の計測原理について、図2を参照して説明する。図2は、実施例に係る生体センサの計測原理を説明するための図である。
図2において、先ず、生体センサ100の発光部11及び受光部12各々は、被検体の測定対象の筋肉を含む部位に装着されている。尚、発光部11及び受光部12各々は、被検体の皮膚に、直接又はジェルやクリームを介して、装着されなくてもよく、例えば肌に密着する服等、測定対象の筋肉の動きが現れるような服であれば着衣の上から装着されてよい。
発光部11及び受光部12各々は、図2(a)に示すように、フレキシブルな部材上に配置されていることが望ましい(尚、図2(b)では、説明の便宜上、フレキシブル部材を図示していない)。しかしながら、発光部11及び受光部12各々は、フレキシブル部材上に配置されていなくともよい。尚、実施例に係る「フレキシブル部材」は、本発明に係る「柔軟性を有する部材」の一例である。
さて、筋肉は収縮するとき、ミオシンフィラメントがアクチンフィラメントを近接中央に引き込み、ミオシンフィラメント及びアクチンフィラメントが互いに深く重なるため、筋肉の弛緩状態と比較すると、筋繊維が密集し筋肉全体は丸みを帯びた形状へと変化する(図2(b)参照)。
筋肉が収縮すると、図2に示すように、発光部11及び受光部12が互いに近づくと共に、発光部11の発光面の法線と受光部12の受光面の法線とが互いに成す角が変化する(図2では、“θ1”から“θ2”へ変化する)。この結果、発光部11から受光部12までの光学的な距離が縮まる。従って、発光部11から出射され、測定対象の筋肉で散乱又は反射された光のうち、受光部12へ入射する光の量が増加する。
加えて、筋肉の収縮時には筋内圧が上昇し活動筋への血流が制限されるので、筋肉の弛緩時に比べて血液に吸収される光量が低減する。このため、筋肉の収縮時には、測定対象の筋肉で散乱又は反射される光の量が増加する。
つまり、受光部12により検出される光量(即ち、出力される生体信号の信号レベル)と、測定対象の筋肉の変化とは相関を持つこととなる。
被検体が自転車のペダリングをしている場合、該被検体の脚の筋肉は、周期的に収縮と弛緩とを繰り返す。生体センサ100が、被検体の脚に装着されている場合、受光部12から出力される生体信号は、例えば図3に示すように、ペダリングに同期した周期を有することとなる。
ところで、生体信号には、例えば心拍出量の変化等の生理反応の影響が含まれる。具体的には、図4(a)に示すように、生理反応に起因して、生体信号全体が比較的長い周期で上下に変動する。尚、図4に示した生体信号は、約10分間にわたる変動を示している。
そこで本実施例では、演算部13のバンドパスフィルタ131(図1(b)参照)により、生体信号に含まれる生理反応に起因する成分を減衰させている。この結果、バンドパスフィルタ131から出力される信号は、図4(b)のようになる。
バンドパスフィルタ131から出力されたフィルタリング後の信号は、正規化部132(図1(b)参照)により正規化される。具体的には、正規化部132は、フィルタリング後の信号の信号振幅の最大値を筋肉の最大収縮状態、信号振幅の最小値を筋肉の非収縮状態として、フィルタリング後の信号を正規化する。
続いて、正規化部132は、例えば、正規化後の信号の最大値を筋肉の収縮率100%、該正規化後の信号の最小値を筋肉の収縮率0%として、筋肉の収縮率の時間変動を示す情報を出力する。尚、実施例に係る「筋肉の収縮率の時間変動を示す情報」は、本発明に係る「一の部位の筋肉の変形に関する情報」の一例である。
本実施例では、被検体がペダリングしている自転車のクランク角が、クランク角センサ20(例えば、ペダリングモニタ)により検出される。当該生体センサ100の表示部14は、クランク角センサ20により検出されたクランク角を利用し、例えば、演算部13から出力された筋肉の収縮率の時間変動を示す情報と、クランク角とを対応付けて表示する(図5参照)。
このように表示すれば、ペダリング時の筋収縮率の推移を、被検体等が知ることができ、実用上非常に有利である。
また、当該生体センサ100は、一対の発光部11及び受光部12に限らず、複数対の発光部及び受光部を備えていてよい。このように構成すれば、例えば自転車のペダリング動作に用いられる、大腿直筋(太もも前部)、大腿ニ頭筋(ハムストリングス外側)、大殿筋(尻部)、半腱様筋(ハムストリングス内側)、前脛骨筋(ふくらはぎ前部)、腓腹筋(ふくらはぎ後部)等の複数の筋肉各々の収縮率の推移を検出することができる(図6参照)。
この結果、例えば、ペダリング時の筋肉の使い分けの評価、意図しないエキセントリックコントラクション(伸長性筋収縮)の検出、等を行うことができ、実用上非常に有利である。
(本実施例の効果)
筋肉の動作状態を評価可能な技術のうち最も実用的なものとして筋電計が挙げられる。そこで、本実施例に係る生体センサ100の計測結果と、筋電計による計測結果とを、図7を参照して比較する。図7に示したグラフは、いずれも一周期分(即ち、クランク角360度分)の筋収縮率の変動を示している。
筋肉の動作状態を評価可能な技術のうち最も実用的なものとして筋電計が挙げられる。そこで、本実施例に係る生体センサ100の計測結果と、筋電計による計測結果とを、図7を参照して比較する。図7に示したグラフは、いずれも一周期分(即ち、クランク角360度分)の筋収縮率の変動を示している。
筋電計の原理についての説明は割愛するが、筋電計は、脳からの筋肉を収縮させる指令に起因する活動電位を検出している。これに対し、当該生体センサ100は、上述の如く、光学的に筋肉の変化を検出している。言い換えれば、当該生体センサ100は、筋肉が変化した結果を検出している。このように、筋電計と当該生体センサ100とは、その計測原理が互いに異なるが、図7に示すように、各筋肉についての計測結果は、類似性が非常に高い。
従って、当該生体センサ100による計測結果は妥当なものであると共に、筋電計と同程度の計測精度を有しているといえる。つまり、当該生体センサ100は、筋電計と同様に、瞬間的な筋肉の変化を、筋肉毎に、高精度に計測することができる。
但し、筋電計は筋肉の活動電位を測定するため、例えばアイソメトリック収縮のように筋肉の変形を伴わない筋収縮も計測可能である。他方、当該生体センサ100は、筋肉の変化に起因する受光量の変化から、筋収縮を計測しているため、筋肉の変形を伴わない筋収縮は計測できない。
ここで特に、当該生体センサ100は、発光部11及び受光部12を、測定対象の筋肉を含む部位に物理的に固定できれば、該筋肉の変化を測定可能であり、その取扱いが非常に容易である。加えて、当該生体センサ100は、被検体の動作する速度(例えば、10Hz以下)程度の信号を検出可能であればよいので、例えば回路構成等を簡素化し、小型化を図ることができる。このため、当該生体センサ100は、例えばスポーツ分野等、積極的に筋肉を動かす分野において、好適に筋肉の状態を計測することができる。
尚、本実施例では、自転車のペダリングを一例として挙げたが、例えばジョギングやランニング等、比較的単純な周期運動であれば、当該生体センサ100は、図5乃至図7に示したような測定結果を表示することができる。
実施例に係る「演算部13」及び「バンドパスフィルタ131」は、夫々、本発明に係る「出力部」及び「減衰手段」の一例である。
本発明は、上述した実施形態に限られるものではなく、請求の範囲及び明細書全体から読み取れる発明の要旨或いは思想に反しない範囲で適宜変更可能であり、そのような変更を伴う生体センサもまた本発明の技術的範囲に含まれるものである。

Claims (4)
- 被検体としての生体に装着される生体センサであって、
前記生体に対して光を照射する発光部と、
少なくとも前記生体の一の部位の筋肉からの戻り光を受光する受光部と、
前記受光された戻り光に応じた前記受光部からの検出信号に基づいて、前記一の部位の筋肉の変形に関する情報を出力する出力部と、
を備えることを特徴とする生体センサ。 - 前記出力部は、前記検出信号の信号レベルの増加を、前記一の部位の筋肉の収縮と判定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の生体センサ。
- 前記発光部及び前記受光部は、柔軟性を有する部材上に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の生体センサ。
- 前記検出信号に含まれる所定周期より長い周期を有する信号成分を減衰させる減衰手段を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の生体センサ。
