Abstract

The invention relates to a protective device for the sealing of a stern tube (1) of propeller-driven ships, in which an intermediate space is provided between the stern tube (2) and the propeller hub (3), which is covered by a tubular protective jacket (4) arranged concentrically to the propeller hub. Said protective jacket is firmly anchored to the stern tube (2) and engages over the propeller hub (3) such that an annular gap (5) is left open, wherein a ring (6), which is concentric to the propeller hub (3) and has a U-shape in the radial section, is arranged in the intermediate space between stern tube (2) and propeller hub (3) inside the protective jacket (4), the U-shaped opening of the ring being directed radially outwards. The aim of the invention is to provide an easily manageable and cost-effective solution. In order to achieve said aim, the invention provides that the ring (6) consists at least partially of a material (B) which can have a pourable consistency at room temperature (T = 20 °C).
