  • one edge of the access opening lies substantially in the plane defined by a side wall of the packet, the side of the closing label opposite to the excise stamp is unable to properly cover the lateral end zone when the label is in the position where it closes the access opening, which in turn means that the cigarettes on that side are poorly protected, and besides that, produces an unattractive, untidy edge.   • the lines 8 and 10 define a front panel 3' located below in Figure 2, a top panel 6' located substantially in the middle of the sheet 7 with reference to its longitudinal direction of extension, and a rear panel 4 located above.

  • the part 18 of the label 12 is connected to the panel 3' by a film 18' of repositionable adhesive, while the part 19 of the label 12 has no adhesive on it and constitutes a flap for gripping the label 12.
  • the portion of the panel 6' under the label 12 has a first, substantially rectangular line of weakness 20 which is defined by a partial incision in the material the sheet 7 is made of and which has three consecutive sides substantially superposed on respective portions of the lines 10 under the label 12 and on a portion of the line 8 adjacent to the label 12, and a fourth side which is parallel with the one partially superposed on a line 8 and which is located under the label 12 in the proximity of the centre line of the panel 6'.
  • the portion of the panel 6' under the label 12 also has a second line of weakness 21 , which preferably has a non-rectilinear shape and which joins to each other two substantially median zones of the aforementioned sides of the line of weakness 20 partly superposed on respective lines 10.
  • the line of weakness 21 preferably comprises two end stretches having the shape of an arc of a circle whose diameter is substantially equal to that of a cigarette 23 and whose concavities face the same way relative to the selfsame line 21 , and a central stretch, joining the two end stretches, substantially having the shape of a semi-circle whose diameter is substantially equal to that of a cigarette 23 and whose concavity faces the opposite way to that of the two end stretches.
  • This shape has been found to be particularly advantageous to make it easier for the smoker to take the cigarettes 23 out of the packet 1 because it creates the least possible interference with the shape of the mouth of the packet 1 .
  • the line of weakness 21 divides the portion of the panel 6' enclosed within the line of weakness 20 into two portions 21 a and 21 b, the former being located near the prefold line 8 adjacent to the label 12 and the other being located closer to the central zone of the panel 6'.
  • the portion 21 b of the panel 6' is connected to the label 12 by a film of permanent adhesive 17.
  • each sheet 7 to form a packet 1 is performed (if necessary, in essentially known manner, using a hollow mandrel, not illustrated) in such a way as to have one group 22 of cigarettes 23 positioned with their axial, filter tip ends (if the cigarettes 23 are filter tipped) resting on the middle of the sheet 7 (on the zone with the substantially rectangular line of weakness 20) symmetrically relative to both the long sides and the short sides of the sheet 7b itself.
  • the folding methods just mentioned are not described in any more detail because they are not relevant to the description of this invention.
  • the flaps folded in this way are then subjected to compression and heat by sealing elements of known type, not illustrated, to form the wrapper shown in Figure 1 , enclosing the group 22 of cigarettes 23.
  • the flaps concerned might be connected to each other using adhesive material.
  • An excise stamp 25 is then placed on the top 6 of the packet 1 , at a substantially central position, delimited by the top panel 6' of the sheet 7, transversely across the top 6 itself and covering respective upper portions of the adjacent panels 3' and 4', which define the front wall 3 and the rear wall 4 of the packet 1 , respectively.
  • the packet 1 can be opened by gripping the adhesive-free part 19 of the label 12 between two fingers and pulling it in such a way as to detach the part 18 of the label 12 from the front wall 3, overcoming the resistance offered by the film 18' of repositionable adhesive.
  • the packet 1 has an access opening 26 at the top of it, allowing the cigarettes 23 to be picked up and taken out. If the smoker wishes, the portion 21 a of the top wall 6 may be separated from the packet 1 in order to further widen the opening 26, at the smoker's discretion, by tearing the portion of the line of weakness 20 which connects it to the top wall 6 itself.
  • the label 12 is brought back to its previous position so that the films 16' and 18' of adhesive again stick to the walls 6 and 3, respectively.
  • the label 12 might be made to adhere to the sheet 7 by means of the films of adhesive 15, 16', 17 and 18' after the sheet 7 has been folded around the group 22 of cigarettes 23.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un paquet (1) pour des produits du tabac, en particulier des cigarettes, ayant sensiblement la forme d'un parallélépipède et défini par une paroi de fond (2), une paroi supérieure (6), une grande paroi avant (3), une grande paroi arrière (4) et deux petites parois latérales (5) ; la paroi supérieure (6) comprend une première ligne de faiblesse fermée (20), positionnée à proximité d'une zone d'extrémité de côté de la paroi supérieure (6) et traversée par une seconde ligne de faiblesse (21) qui relie deux points opposés de celle-ci et divise la partie de la paroi supérieure (6) enserrée à l'intérieur de la première ligne de faiblesse (20) en une première partie (21a) positionnée à proximité d'une zone d'extrémité de côté de la paroi supérieure (6) et une seconde partie (21b) espacée de ladite zone d'extrémité de côté, une étiquette (12) est prévue, superposée sur la première ligne de faiblesse (20) et positionnée à travers la paroi supérieure (6) et des parties de dessus respectives de la grande paroi avant (3) et de la grande paroi arrière (4) adjacentes et qui comprend une première région d'extrémité reliée stable à une zone de dessus de la grande paroi arrière (4), une seconde région d'extrémité reliée amovible à une zone de dessus de la grande paroi avant (3), ainsi qu'un rabat de préhension (19), qui est dépourvu d'adhésif et fait partie de la seconde région d'extrémité ; une surface intermédiaire de l'étiquette (12), adjacente à la partie de la paroi supérieure (6) enserrée à l'intérieur de la première ligne de faiblesse (20) est reliée stable à la seconde partie (21b) de la paroi supérieure (6).
