Abstract

 固体増幅器でパルス光を増幅する際のエネルギー利用効率を向上させるとともに、固体増幅器の発熱ロスを低減して、比較的安価で小型のレーザ光源装置で、種光源10と、ゲインスイッチング法を用いて種光源から出力されるパルス光を増幅するファイバ増幅器と、その出力をさらに増幅する固体増幅器と、固体増幅器から出力されるパルス光を波長変換する非線形光学素子と、ファイバ増幅器30と固体増幅器50との間に配置されたASEノイズを除去する光スイッチ素子40と、制御部100を備えて構成され、制御部は種光源からのパルス光の出力期間に光の伝播を許容し、当該出力期間と異なる期間に光の伝播を阻止するように光スイッチ素子を制御するとともに、種光源から出力されるパルス光の入力前にファイバ増幅器及び/または固体増幅器が反転分布するように、ファイバ増幅器及び/または固体増幅器の励起用光源を周期的または間歇的に制御する。
