Description

The invention relates to a dashboard cross support preferably positioned at one end of said dashboard cross member, and whose design allows for a lightweight and rigid piece.
The classic architecture of a dashboard of a motor vehicle has a cross on which are fixed the steering column, the dashboard and other equipment. The dashboard cross member extends generally from one side of the vehicle to the other, substantially between the two front feet of the vehicle. It is attached to the vehicle structure by dashboard transom supports, also called side calipers. The dashboard crossmember is generally made of a metal tube on which are placed various means of attaching equipment such as an air bag, a steering column, an air conditioning system ... The cross board The dashboard is attached at both ends via the transom supports to the front foot, the front fender liner or the vehicle apron. These supports must be sufficiently rigid and solid to maintain the dashboard crossmember equipped with the dashboard and other equipment attached thereto, to limit the vibrations of said crossmember, including vibration in a substantially rotation about the axis transverse of the vehicle, and for passing the forces between the cross member and the vehicle structure in the event of impact. A support according to the prior art is shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3. Said support (a) can be made by a folded sheet forming a U-section piece, so as to create two parallel flanges (b , c) interconnected by a plate (d) perpendicular to the two flanges (b, c). The end of the cross member (e) dashboard is fixed by welding on the surface of one of the two flanges, which will be called flange (b) side cross, said surface being the one facing the opposite side to the second flange (c). The dashboard cross member (e) formed of a tube is fixed so that the axis at the end of the tube forming said dashboard cross member (e) fixed to the support (a), is substantially perpendicular on the surface of the flange (b) side cross on which said cross member (e) dashboard is fixed. In order to reinforce this connection between the dashboard cross member (e) and the support (a), a squareness reinforcement (f), made using a folded sheet forming a triangular square and consisting of two substantially parallel triangular walls substantially in the shape of a right triangle, and a third substantially rectangular wall connecting the two triangular walls between the two hypotenuses of each of the two triangular walls. One edge of each square opposite each of the hypotenuses is fixed on the flange (b) side cross, the other edge opposite the hypotenuse is attached to the dashboard (e). A sheet metal profile (g) is positioned between the two flanges, perpendicular to the two flanges (b, c), so as to increase the rigidity of the support (a). The support (a) of the dashboard cross member (e) is fixed to the vehicle by the plate (d) disposed between the two flanges (b, c), said plate (d) being positioned in a plane containing the axes Y and Z of the vehicles, the Y axis being the transverse axis of the vehicle and the Z axis the vertical axis in the vehicle reference system. The flanges (b, c) are in a plane parallel to the X and Z axes, the X axis being the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The flange (b) side cross member allows a maintenance of the dashboard cross member (e) along the X axis and the Z axis. The squareness reinforcement (f) reinforces the connection between the cross member (e). dashboard and flange (b) crosshead side for X-axis forces. The sheet metal profile (g) positioned between the two flanges (b, c) reinforces the rigidity of the crossbar support (a) dashboard along the Y axis by reinforcing the stiffness of the flanges (b, c). Such a support appears in FIG. 1 of patent FR2979886.
Although this design of the dashboard support gives good results in terms of rigidity, it nevertheless requires the use of a lot of material, weighing down the support. In addition, if the rigidity of the dashboard support is sufficient when the cross member is supported in its middle zone by a vertical connection with the floor of the vehicle, called strut, the removal of this strut requires reinforcing said support dashboard, especially to minimize the vibrations of the dashboard crossmember. This reinforcement will generate more mass that will weigh down the vehicle.
The object of the invention is to propose a new design of a lightened board cross support while being rigid in the X, Y and Z axes of the vehicle as defined above, when said support and said cross member are installed on the vehicle, and while decreasing the vibrations of said cross, including vibrations related to the rotation of the cross member in an axis substantially parallel to the Y axis. Another objective is to simplify the realization of the cross support.
This object is achieved according to the invention by means of a support intended to fix a cross member, in particular a dashboard cross member, to the structure of a vehicle, comprising a soleplate intended to fix said support to said structure of the vehicle, characterized in that said support comprises at least two substantially flat walls, a first and a second wall, each connected to the sole by one of their respective edges, and each having at least one edge intended to be fixed to the cross member, the two walls extending both on the same side of the soleplate, and in that the first and second walls are interconnected by at least one edge of one of said walls, said edge being adjacent to the edge bonded to the soleplate. This design of the support advantageously simplifies said support and minimize the amount of material used, so its mass. The first and second walls each having at least non-parallel parts and connected to each other, said walls will be able to maintain each crosses in preferred directions to ensure the maintenance of said cross. The fact that the edge of one of said walls is bonded to the other wall advantageously makes it possible to increase the rigidity of the support. The support is lighter while remaining rigid.
The first and second walls extend on the same side of the sole so that the two walls can be attached to the cross. The first wall and the second wall may be interconnected by a connection between one of the edges of one of the walls with the surface of the other wall, or by a connection between the edge of one of the walls and the edge of the other wall. The connection may be a connection by welding or gluing, or any other known method of attachment. The first wall and the second wall may also be made by a single folded part, the connection between the two walls being made by the continuity of material between the two walls at the fold zone.
The sole comprises means for attaching it to the vehicle structure or on an element which is fixed to the vehicle structure. Said fastening means may be for example holes allowing the use of screw-nut systems to achieve said fixing, or any other means known to those skilled in the art. Preferably, a positioning will be chosen such that the first wall and the second wall are perpendicular to each other. Thus, the two walls cooperate more effective and the rigidity of said support is advantageously improved, one of the walls reinforcing the other wall in the direction perpendicular to said other wall.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the support comprises at least a third wall facing the first wall, said third wall being connected to at least the second wall, and said third wall being intended to be fixed by the one of its edges at the cross.
The third wall extends on the same side of the sole as the first and second wall so as to be fixed by one of its edges to the cross.
During certain movements of the cross, efforts are transmitted to the third wall. Said third wall being fixed to the second wall, itself connected to the first wall, the support thus formed by the sole and the three walls which are connected together in pairs, will advantageously have improved rigidity. Maintaining the cross member relative to the vehicle body will be improved. Alternatively, said third wall may be bound by one of its edges to the sole so as to further increase the stiffness of the cross support.
Preferably, the third wall comprises at least one planar portion preferably arranged so that the extension of said plane portion on the side of the edge of said third wall intended to be fixed to the crosspiece extends in a plane which intersects with forming at an acute angle the plane in which the first wall extends. Said third wall may comprise another flat portion arranged to be perpendicular to the second wall, to further stiffen the bond between the walls.
The second wall and the third wall may be connected together by a connection between one of the edges of one of the walls with the surface of the other wall, or by a connection between the edge of one of the walls and the edge of the other wall. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the support comprises at least a fourth wall placed opposite the second wall, connected by one of its edges to the soleplate and connected at least to the first and third walls. The fourth wall extends on the same side of the sole as the first, second and third walls. The connection between the fourth wall and at least the first and third wall may be made between the edge of one of the walls and the surface of another wall, or between the edges of two walls. The link can be by welding, nesting, folding of the same piece, or any other means known to those skilled in the art. The fourth wall is connected to the first and third walls so as to form an open "box", whose bottom is formed by at least a portion of the sole and having at least four edges formed at least by the first, second third and fourth wall. Advantageously, the rigidity of the support thus formed is particularly high while said support is light because manufactured with little material. Indeed, the cooperation of the walls between them allows to obtain a high rigidity of the support while decreasing the amount of material used, and therefore the mass of said support. Preferably, the fourth wall is flat and is arranged perpendicularly to the first wall.
Preferably, the second wall is arranged so that it extends laterally relative to the sole, in a direction opposite to the fourth wall, while being on the same side as the first, third and fourth wall relative to the sole.
In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the fourth wall comprises a gripping zone adapted to receive a gripping means so as to allow the handling of the cross-support assembly, when the support is fixed on said cross-member, by a handling apparatus comprising said gripping means, such as a rectangular opening in said fourth wall.
This design uses components already present on the support to achieve the gripping zone adapted to receive the gripping means. The design of the support is simplified and a minimum of material is used to achieve this area, minimizing the increase in mass associated with the establishment of said gripping area. The gripping zone may be located on an extension of said fourth wall, tongue-shaped extension, comprising for example the rectangular-shaped opening for receiving the gripping means.
In another embodiment of the invention, the third wall comprises at least one flat portion and one flat reinforcing tongue, the reinforcing tongue being disposed in a non-parallel plane to said flat portion, the third wall being bonded to the least by one of its edges to the fourth wall, on the face of said fourth wall facing the side of the second wall, said edge being composed at least in part by one of the edges of the flat portion and one of the edges of the tongue of reinforcement, so as to stiffen the said fourth wall. Preferably the reinforcing tongue is positioned perpendicular to the fourth wall. The connection between the edge of the third wall and the fourth wall can be achieved by any means known to those skilled in the art, such as welding, riveting or gluing. This arrangement advantageously makes it possible to reinforce the rigidity of the fourth wall. In particular, this configuration prevents said fourth wall from being deformed during the handling of the cross support assembly and passes, when said cross support is fixed to the cross member, by the handling device comprising cooperating gripping means. with the gripping area of the cross support. In one embodiment of the invention, the fourth wall has on at least a portion of one of its edges not connected to the sole and not connected to one of the other walls, at least one extension forming a fallen edge of in order to stiffen said fourth wall, in particular at the level of the gripping zone. These fallen edges of the fourth wall advantageously enhance the rigidity of said fourth wall, in particular at the gripping zone when said fallen edges are positioned at said gripping zone. This configuration avoids the deformations of the fourth wall during handling of the crossbar and cross support assembly, when said cross support is fixed to said crossbar, by a handling device comprising a gripping means cooperating with the gripping zone. located in said fourth wall.
In one embodiment of the invention, at least a portion of the sole and at least one of the walls are made by folding a single sheet. This design has the advantage of being particularly simple to achieve, minimizes the number of parts used to make the support so inexpensive, while ensuring a very good rigidity. Preferably, the sole, the first, the second and the fourth wall are made from a single sheet by folding, said walls being interconnected by one or more fastening means, for example by gluing, welding, riveting or interlocking or any other means known to those skilled in the art, and the third wall is an insert and attached to the second and fourth wall. The connections between the walls can be made by welding an edge of one of the walls to the wall or the edge of the adjacent wall, by riveting, gluing, interlocking or any other means of attachment known by the man of the job. The realization of the third wall by an insert allows to extend the sole beyond the third wall, and to obtain a larger sole surface for better support on an element of the vehicle structure. Preferably, the sole comprises at least one plane portion on which is connected at least a portion of the first and / or second wall. The fact of having a flat soleplate makes it easier to shape the support by folding.
The invention also relates to a dashboard structure comprising a cross member and at least one support according to the invention described above.
In one embodiment of the invention, the dashboard structure comprises at least one support as described above and a dashboard crossmember, said support being attached to one end of said crossmember, and said end on which is fixed said support is in the form of a cylinder, whose axis will be called end axis, the first wall of the support extending in a plane substantially parallel to said end axis and the second wall s' extending in a plane forming an acute angle with said end axis so that the edge of the second wall attached to the cross-member is closer to the middle of the cross-member than the edge of said second wall connected to the sole, said middle of the crossbeam being the zone of the crossmember at equidistance between the two ends of said crossmember. This configuration allows a particularly effective transmission of forces to the sole, particularly in the case where the dashboard structure is disposed in the vehicle so that the first wall is parallel to the horizontal plane of the vehicle, the horizontal plane of the vehicle. vehicle being the plane parallel to the longitudinal and transverse axis of the vehicle. In the event of a front impact, the forces passing through the support are essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The first wall, reinforced against buckling, by its connection with the second wall and possibly its connection with the fourth wall, is very resistant to longitudinal forces. On the other hand, in the event of a lateral impact, the forces passing through the reinforcement and coming from the crossbar will essentially be directed parallel to the transverse axis of the vehicle. The first wall will resist effectively against these lateral forces, reinforced by the connection with the second wall and possibly its connection with the fourth wall. It transmits said forces to the structure of the vehicle by minimizing the deformations. The position of the second wall forming an angle less than 90 ° with respect to the end axis formed by the end of the cross member and connected at least to the first wall, also allows a transfer of effective lateral forces towards the sole and the structure of the vehicle, the end axis being substantially parallel to the transverse axis of the vehicle. When the support is according to an embodiment in which said support comprises a third wall, said third wall provides a more rigid support of the cross-member vis-à-vis the movements of sleepers generating rotational movements of said cross member substantially the end axis of the crossbar.
The invention also relates to a vehicle comprising a cross member fixed to the vehicle structure by at least one support as described above. In particular, the cross member may be a cross dashboard. In a particular embodiment of the vehicle according to the invention, the support is fixed to a dashboard crossmember and to the vehicle structure, such that the first wall is substantially parallel to the horizontal plane in the reference frame of the vehicle, said plane horizontal being defined by the longitudinal axis X of said vehicle and the transverse axis Y of said vehicle, and the fourth wall of the support is disposed substantially parallel to a plane perpendicular to the axis Y.
In another embodiment of the invention, the dashboard cross member is held in the vehicle structure at least by a cross-member support as described above, as well as by a crossbar support arm fixed on the one hand at the transom and secondly at the top of the apron before. The top of the front apron may be an element of the vehicle structure disposed at the bottom of the windshield.
The support is preferably made of sheet metal, such as steel, aluminum or aluminum alloy. It can also be made of plastic or composite material. In the case of composite or plastic material, the piece can be made by molding, in one piece or several pieces. It may comprise metal inserts to allow its attachment by welding on the crosspiece when said support is made of plastic or composite material, and / or to enhance its rigidity.
With a stiffer cross support, the strut connecting said dashboard cross member to the floor of the vehicle or the lower part of the front deck, conventionally used to support the dashboard cross member, can be removed without degrading the benefits in vibration. The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows, given solely by way of example and with reference to the appended drawings, in which:

6.  Fig. 7 shows the cross support with a variant of the shape of one of the edges of the first wall of said support, according to the view of FIG. 6.
Fig. 8 shows the cross support in the same view as FIG. 5, with an indication of the position of weld seams for fixing the walls to each other as well as for fixing the cross member on said support.
Fig. 9 is a view showing a dashboard crossmember on which is fixed a support and a support arm for attachment to the vehicle structure element disposed at the bottom of the windshield. As illustrated in fig. 4 and 5, the support 1 comprises a soleplate 10 on which are connected a first wall 11 and a second wall 12. Said walls 11 and 12 are interconnected. In FIGS. 4 and 5, one of the edges of the second wall is connected to the surface of the first wall, for example by welding or gluing, or by any other means for attaching a wall to another wall known to the skilled person. Alternatively, the two walls 11 and 12 may be interconnected by their respective edge. The two walls 11 and 12 can also be made from a sheet bending, the connection between said walls 11 and 12 then being made by continuity of material at the folded area. It is the same for the connection between the walls 11 and 12 and the sole 10. At least a portion of the edges of the walls 11 and 12, which are opposite the edges of said walls 11 and 12 connected to the sole, are intended to be attached to the dashboard crossbar 2 not shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. In particular, the shape of the edge of the second wall 12 intended to be fixed on the crosspiece at least partially follows the shape of said cross member 2 so as to allow attachment of said edge on the surface of said crosspiece 2. In order to reinforce the stiffness of the reinforcement 1, the second wall 12 is positioned in a plane substantially perpendicular to the plane defined by the first wall 11. The support 1 further comprises a third wall 13 disposed facing the first wall 11. At least one of the edges of said third wall 13 is connected to the second wall 12 and another of the edges of said third wall 13 is intended to be fixed to the cross member 2. This third wall 13 reinforces the connection between the cross member 2 and the support 1, improve the rigidity of the second wall 12 and the rigidity of the support 1. In fig.4, the third wall 13 is not connected to the sole 10. To further strengthen the rigidity of the support 1, one of the edges of said third wall 13 may be re connected to said sole 10.
As shown in Figures 4 and 5, in this preferred embodiment, the support 1 also has a fourth wall 14 facing the third wall 13. The fourth wall 14 is connected by one of its edges to the sole 10. The first wall 11 and the third wall 13 are connected to said fourth wall 14. This connection can be made by the edge of one of the walls 13 or 14 in contact with the surface of the other wall, or edge to edge. The connection can be made by any means known to those skilled in the art to maintain a wall to another, such as for example by welding, gluing, or by folding a plate or by interlocking. The third wall 13 is formed of at least one plane portion 131. To optimize the rigidity of the support 1, a configuration of the support 1 in which the flat portion 131 is perpendicular to the fourth wall 14, extending at least from the second wall 12 to the fourth wall 14. The third wall 13 may also comprise a second flat portion extending from the second wall 12 to the fourth wall 14, the flat portion being perpendicular to said second wall 12 as well as to said fourth wall 14.
The third wall 13 also comprises a reinforcing tongue 132 preferably flat, having an edge connected to the fourth wall 14. The edge of the third wall 13 connected to the surface of the fourth wall 14 forms a broken line, of which at least one first segment is formed by one of the edges of the flat portion 131 and at least one second segment is formed by one of the edges of the reinforcing tongue 132. The tongue of reinforcement 132 is arranged to form an angle with the flat portion 131 of said wall 13. This reinforcement tongue 132 stiffens the fourth wall 14. In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the soleplate 10 is substantially flat, and the reinforcement tongue 132 is substantially parallel to the plane defined by the flange 10, and the second flat portion of the third wall 13 is substantially perpendicular to said flange 10.
The fourth wall 14 further comprises a gripping tab 141 extending away from the flange 10. Said gripping tab 141 comprises a gripping area 142 in the form of a gripping hole. This gripping zone 142 is intended to allow the handling of a structure composed of at least one support dashboard cross member 1 attached to a dashboard cross member 2, using a handling device, said handling apparatus comprising a gripping means cooperating with the gripping area. Preferably, the reinforcement tongue 132 of the third wall 13 is connected by one of its edges to the fourth wall 14 at the level of said gripping tongue 141 so as to stiffen said gripping tongue 141. On the edges of said tongue gripping members 141 are provided with reinforced flanged edges 143, bent substantially at 90 ° with respect to the surface of the gripping tab 141, so as to stiffen said gripping tab 141. These flanged edges 143 are preferentially arranged at the level of the gripping zone 142 so as to stiffen the gripping tab 141 at said gripping area 142. Other means for the cooperation of a gripping means with the gripping area 142 may be provided. During handling, the rigidity of the gripping zone 142 is ensured in different directions by virtue of the reinforced reinforcement edges 143 and the connection with the third wall 13. In FIG. 4, the fourth wall 14 has a T-shape, the horizontal leg of the T being connected to the sole 10 and the vertical leg of the T having the gripping zone 142 at the end opposite to the horizontal leg.
The sole 10 may be flat, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5, or be of more complex shape, such as for example having edges that have fallen around its periphery, and on which the walls 11, 12, 13 and 14 are connected, or some of these walls. In the preferred embodiment shown in Figures 4 and 5, the sole 10, the first wall 11, the second wall 12 and the fourth wall 14 are made by folding a metal sheet. The first wall 11 and the second wall 12, and the first wall 11 and the fourth wall 14 are interconnected by welding an edge of one of the walls on the surface of the other wall. The third wall 13 is an add-on part, one edge of which is welded to the second wall 12 and another edge to the fourth wall 14. The embodiment of the support of the dashboard transom support 1 thus consists solely of 2 folded and fixed parts. between them.
The third wall could also be obtained by folding a part of the plate from which are formed the sole 10, the first wall 11, the second wall 12 and the fourth wall 14. In this embodiment, the support 1 would then be made of a single piece folded.
The soleplate 10 comprises means allowing the establishment of fastening means adapted to fix said flange 10 to the vehicle structure. In fig. 4, the sole 10 has holes for the passage of fixing screws.
Fig. 6 shows a support 1 on which is fixed a dashboard cross 2. FIG. 6 shows only the end of the cross member 2. The end of the cross member 2 is substantially cylindrical in shape, the axis of the cylinder forms the end axis 3. The cross member 2 is fixed on an edge of the first wall 10, an edge of the second wall 12 and an edge of the third wall 13. The first wall 11 and the flat portion 131 of the third wall 13 are arranged substantially parallel to the end axis 3. The fourth wall 14 is disposed substantially perpendicular to the end axis 3. The second wall 12 extends obliquely with respect to the sole 10 and is perpendicular to the first wall 11. That is to say that said second wall 12 is arranged to make an angle with the end axis 3, so that the edge of the second wall 12 which is fixed to the soleplate 10 is further from the middle of the crossbar 2 than the edge of the said second wall 12 which is connected to said cross member 2, said mid place of the crossbeam 2 being the zone of the crossbeam 2 equidistant between the two ends of said crossbeam 2, the second wall 12 being also perpendicular to the first wall 11. The edge of the end of the crosspiece 2 has a dropped edge 21 facing the inside of said crosspiece 2. This fallen edge 21 makes it possible to stiffen the end of the crosspiece 2 against efforts tending to deform the section of said end This falling edge 21 may be made by deforming the end of the crosspiece at the moment of its shaping, or by adding a washer-shaped piece adapted to the cross-section of the end of the crosspiece. crossbar 2, and which is fixed to the edge of the end of the crossbar 2.
Fig. 7 shows a variant of the shape of the first wall 11 in which the edge of said first wall 11 fixed to the crosspiece 2 is extended forward of the end of said cross member 2 by an outgrowth 110 extending in front of said end of the 2. This protrusion 110 limits the displacements of the cross member 2 along the end axis 3 in the direction of the fourth wall 14. When the cross member 2 is fixed to the vehicle structure, the end axis 3 is disposed transversely to the vehicle. In the event of a lateral impact, the protrusion 110 limits the displacement of the crossmember 2 under the force of said lateral impact. Fig. 8 shows an example of weld bead positioning 4 between the walls, as well as on the edges of the first wall 11, second wall 12 and third wall 13 intended to be fixed on the dashboard cross member. The support 1 is attached to the cross member 2, forming a dashboard structure, so that once said dashboard structure mounted on the vehicle structure, the cross support 1 is arranged such that the first wall 11 is substantially parallel to the horizontal plane of the vehicle, defined by a longitudinal axis X and transverse Y of the vehicle, the sole 10 is disposed in a vertical plane defined by the Y axis and a vertical axis Z of the vehicle, and the fourth wall 14 is parallel to another vertical plane defined by the X axis and the Z axis of the vehicle. The second wall 12 is in a plane parallel to the vertical axis Z of the vehicle. Fig. 9 shows a dashboard transom structure comprising a dashboard cross member 2 fixed by at least one of its ends to a support 1, a support arm 5 of the cross member 2 being fixed on the one hand to the cross member 2 and on the other hand being intended to be fixed in the upper part of the front apron, such as for example on a structural element of the vehicle disposed along the bottom of the windshield. This support arm 5 is disposed substantially at the fastening on the crossbar 2 of the steering column to ensure effective maintenance of said steering column, especially in case of impact. By making a support 1 rigid cross 2, it becomes possible to remove the reinforcements usually positioned substantially vertical between the cross member 2 and a vehicle floor element. The fixing by the support 1 at each end of the crossbar 2 and the establishment of the support arm 5 is sufficient to maintain the cross 2 rigidly.
