Abstract

The invention relates to a pallet which provides a maximum surface area for a given perimeter and which is also suitable for loading railway wagons and trailers measuring 240 cm in width. The dimensions of the pallet are such that one side is twice the length of the other side, and in one possible embodiment the dimensions of the pallet are 1200 mm x 600 mm.

DESCRIPTION OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The object of the present invention, as the title states, is a rectangular pallet for the transport of goods. It characterizes the present invention the special characteristics of the relationship of dimensions of the sides, from which practical advantages are derived for its use, allowing a reduction of loading and unloading times, compatibility with known pallets, optimal use of trailers and trains, more manageability and occupation.

Therefore, the present invention is within the scope of pallets or platforms made of wooden sticks, or made of plastic or other materials, to support the goods packed during transport: BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

In the state of the art are known pallets of merchandise of dimensions 1200 mm x 800 mm, also known as europalé, which is the most widespread and used pallet format in Europe.

The European pallet is standardized in dimensions and strength. It is common to find the pallet approved by EPAL (European Pallet Association) (which meets a series of technical regulations and strict quality requirements). - Standard arrangement of nails.

Chamfered base boards.

No mold formation.

Approval staple with the EPAL quality symbol. When EPAL-certified Europallets are repaired, they are marked with the special EPAL stamped repair nail.

Symbols must be etched completely. The isopalé (or American pallet) measuring 1200 mm x 1000 mm used for industrial environments and for liquid products is also known.

The reasons for these dimensions are given by the width of the European railway cars, which had a distance of 2400 mm. This caused the length of the pallets to be 1200 mm, allowing the full width of the car to be used by loading a pallet from each side.

In turn, the width of European trailers also 2400 mm, means that with a width of 800 mm, the European pallet can be placed inside the trailer in rows of 2 pallets (if they are hung in one direction) or in rows of 3 pallets (if placed perpendicularly).

In recent years, the use of new pallet formats is increasing in order to meet the needs of different actors in the supply chain. Among them, we could highlight 2 formats:

Medium pallet: with measures of 600 x 800 mm

Fourth pallet: with measures of 600 x 400 mm Obviously both formats have taken as reference the Europalet, which has been divided into 2 and 4 respectively.

In addition to the Europalet, the pallet medium is the only format that AECOC collects (AECOC is one of the largest business associations in Spain and the only one in which manufacturers and distributors work together to improve the sector in order to provide greater value to the consumer) within of the standards of quality of pallets for the systems "pool" or in grouped disposition. These formats, smaller than the European pallet, are better suited to lower volume orders (rising trend) and have a great advantage for wholesale distributors since they can be used directly as secondary containers (especially the pallet room).

In order to avoid nanosciences in the occupation of space and manipulated, and make all the actors in the supply chain benefit (suppliers, distributors, ...), they are trying to unify and normalize the dimensions of the packaging secondary.

In ISO 3394, which refers to the dimensions of master boxes, pallets and palletized loads; We can find that it is advised that the secondary containers (boxes) comply with dimensions in which the bases of the boxes must correspond to a module of 600 x 400 mm of external measurement.

This module can be multiplied or divided and therefore obtain other dimensions (multiples) that adapt to any need.

Based on these modular sizes, AECOC recommends for the development of efficient secondary load units, that these adapt to one of these 7 surfaces.

We can see how these modular units adapt perfectly to the pallets mentioned above:

European pallet (4 modules).

Half pallet (2 modules).

Pallet room (1 module).

There are aspects derived from the format of known pallets that can be object of improvement, such as the download load times that are set with the exposed formats, there is no possibility of improvement. Some of the known formats are compatible with the rest of the formats. It is an object of the present invention to achieve a pallet of such dimensions, which allows maximum use of the surface, in which the loading unit is suitable for the widths of wagons and trailers, where a reduction in the times of loading and unloading, without implying less use of the surface of trains and trailers, and which is also compatible with the rest of pallets and can be manipulated by existing loading and unloading means, developing a pallet like the one below it is described and is reflected in its essentiality in the first claim.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The object of the present invention is a pallet that achieves a maximum area for the same perimeter and that is also suitable for the loading of train cars and trailer trailers, which are 240 cm wide. One solution would be a pallet of 2400 mm x 1200 mm, but obviously this surface would be too large and would present problems for its transport.

So you had to think about how many pallets you would have to divide the previous module. The possibilities would be:

Two pallets of 1200 x 1200 mm, as an alternative would be more favorable than the American pallet of 1200 x 1000 mm, however the trend is towards pallets of smaller dimensions, so this alternative was rejected.

Three pallets of dimensions 800 x 1200 mm, which corresponds to the europalé, but when joining two pallets a square is not achieved that is the geometric figure that maximizes the interior area or surface with a smaller perimeter. The third possibility would be to divide it into four pallets of 600 x 1200 mm. With this solution we managed to form squares (joining 2 pallets), also the pallets have a smaller format, which facilitates the use for smaller volumes of merchandise, and which is also compatible with the European format.

Accordingly, the pallet object of the invention is characterized by having dimensions in which one side is twice the other side, and preferably the dimensions are 1200 mm x 600 mm.

Therefore, the advantages derived from selecting a format such as that indicated would be: it is closely related to the European pallet, which will make them have high compatibility.

- When we load or unload a palletized cargo truck, either with pallet truck or forklift, with the Europalet we load at a rate of 1 pallet per movement, that is, the truck is fully loaded or completely unloaded in a total of 33 movements . However, the measurements of the pallet object of the invention allow that with these same means, each movement is carried out with 2 pallets, reducing the movements necessary for the complete loading or unloading to 22 movements, that is, achieving a reduction of 1/3 of the movements and consequently a reduction of 1/3 of loading and unloading time. The reduction of time in the unloading process, allows to reduce the bottleneck that occurs in many stores, reducing on the one hand the time of availability of the merchandise and in turn, the time of occupation of the loading dock. On the other hand, a compatibility of the pallet object of the invention is achieved with the Europalet which is also present when storing the merchandise.

On the one hand we find that the 1200 x 600 mm format allows this pallet is transported using the same means we use for the European pallet: pallet truck, electric pallet truck, forklift, or retractable among others.

This fact is highly valued by professionals in the sector when accepting the use of a new format, since it avoids having to face new costs in compatible media.

On the other hand, as regards the storage of pallets, full compatibility is also achieved with the means commonly used with the Europalet. In merchandise stores, pallet storage is usually done on shelves of up to 7 heights with a capacity of 3 European pallets per height. Consequently, we can store 4 pallets in the same shelves as the one that is the object of the invention. Another advantage achieved with the proposed pallet format is to achieve greater occupancy. It can also be used as a secondary container against the European pallet, complying with the AECOC recommendations for this type of packaging. What is also an important advantage, is that despite its new format compatibility is achieved with the three types of pallets used in the distribution.

Three European pallets are four pallets like the one of the invention

Three quarters of pallets equals a pallet like the one of the invention.

- And a half pallets are 2/3 of the pallet of the invention.

This list of measures is of great importance, both when presenting this format as a candidate to increase its use in the supply chain, and to propose it, for example, as a load unit to be added in pallet pool systems.

The pallet would also have applications within domestic use, since its width allows access by doors from 60 cm, such as: Transportation of large appliances (washing machine, oven, ...).

Load of complete purchases (in a single container).

Solution to the lack of space (seasonal wardrobe, mobile storage). Transportation and loading of construction material (avoiding, for example, constant walks to the vehicle to replenish material).

Supplement to the trunk of the car.

Joint purchases of neighborhood communities that are delivered in pallet (cost savings for the seller and increased negotiating capacity by the buyer).

EXPLANATION OF THE FIGURES

To complement the description that is being made and in order to help a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, according to a preferred example of practical realization thereof, a game of drawings where illustrative and not limiting, the following has been represented.

In figure 1, we can see a trailer trailer filled with 33 euro pallets.

In view of the figures, a preferred embodiment of the proposed invention is described below.

In Figure 1 we can see a trailer trailer filled with Europallets (2), with a total of 33 pallets.

However, also with the proposed format, a trailer trailer can be filled with the pallets (1) of the invention, providing a total of 44 pallets, either in the configuration shown in Figure 2 of four pallets per row, or the configuration shown in figure 3 of two pallets per row.

An important fact is the savings achieved in the unloading of the trailer trailer, since in figure 4, a trailer trailer loaded with Europallets (2) is shown, having to individually insert or remove each pallet, the movements would be a total of 33, while in figure 5, where the trailer has been loaded with pallets (1) like the one of the invention, it is possible to simultaneously remove or introduce two pallets in each movement of the pallet truck, that is to say it would only take 22 displacement compared to 33 which means a saving of 33%, with the consequent saving of time and energy.

Describing sufficiently the nature of the present invention, as well as the way of putting it into practice, it is noted that, within its essentiality, it may be implemented in other embodiments that differ in detail from that indicated by way of example. , and which will also achieve the protection sought, provided that it does not alter, change or modify its fundamental principle.
