Abstract
外部からのエネルギーの投入や高温維持の必要がなく、エネルギーを生成しつつ二酸化炭素を有益な炭化水素化合物として変換することが可能であり、かつ、炭化水素化合物等の生成量や、種類別比率のコントロールを可能とし、生成物の利用効率が向上するとともに、分離回収のための設備も簡素化することが可能な固体高分子形発電または電解方法、およびこれらを動作させるシステムを提供すること。 膜電極接合体113を有する反応槽110の一方の電極111側に二酸化炭素を、他方の電極112側に水素を供給し、反応槽110の発電電圧を制御して単位時間あたりに生成される炭化水素化合物の量および種類別比率を変更すること。
Description
本発明は、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体の電極の一方に二酸化炭素を供給し、他方に水素あるいは水蒸気あるいは液体の水を供給し、発電するとともに炭化水素化合物および水を生成する固体高分子形発電方法およびシステム、または、電解するとともに炭化水素化合物を生成する固体高分子形電解方法およびシステムに関する。
近年、化石燃料の燃焼に由来する大気中への二酸化炭素排出が、生態系や地球環境に大きな影響を与える可能性があることから、世界的にも二酸化炭素の排出抑制が求められている。
このため、二酸化炭素を排出しない、あるいは、二酸化炭素の排出量を削減する技術の開発が行われており、その一環として二酸化炭素を固定化する技術や他の化合物へ変換する技術の開発も行われている。
また、宇宙ステーションやロケット等の完全な閉鎖環境では、物質の補給が容易ではなく、元素レベルで必要最低限の補給、排出に留める必要がある。
このため、発生した二酸化炭素を他の物質に変換して回収できる物質を増加させ、補給、排出する物質を元素レベルで極力減らすことが求められている。
このため、二酸化炭素を排出しない、あるいは、二酸化炭素の排出量を削減する技術の開発が行われており、その一環として二酸化炭素を固定化する技術や他の化合物へ変換する技術の開発も行われている。
また、宇宙ステーションやロケット等の完全な閉鎖環境では、物質の補給が容易ではなく、元素レベルで必要最低限の補給、排出に留める必要がある。
このため、発生した二酸化炭素を他の物質に変換して回収できる物質を増加させ、補給、排出する物質を元素レベルで極力減らすことが求められている。
大気中の二酸化炭素量を緩和する手法としては、二酸化炭素を回収し地中に埋める手法が具体的に進められている。
また、二酸化炭素をサバチエ触媒反応により300℃近傍の高温で水素と反応させてメタンを生成させ、このメタンを回収して移送の容易なエネルギーとして使用する試みもある。
ただし、これら全ての手法は埋設のためのエネルギーを大量に投入するか、もしくは高温を維持するためにエネルギーを必要とする手法である。
また、二酸化炭素をサバチエ触媒反応により300℃近傍の高温で水素と反応させてメタンを生成させ、このメタンを回収して移送の容易なエネルギーとして使用する試みもある。
ただし、これら全ての手法は埋設のためのエネルギーを大量に投入するか、もしくは高温を維持するためにエネルギーを必要とする手法である。
エネルギーの投入を抑制して二酸化炭素を固定化するものとして、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽のカソード側に二酸化炭素を供給し、アノード側に水素を供給することで、燃料電池反応により二酸化炭素を酸化剤として電気を起こしつつ、反応中に二酸化炭素を還元して一酸化炭素等の他に利用可能な化合物を生成し、炭素資源のリサイクルが可能な固体高分子形発電方法およびシステム(例えば、特許文献1等参照。)や、水蒸気あるいは液体の水を供給しつつこれを電気分解(電解)により水素イオンを生成させて炭酸ガスの還元反応に用いる固体高分子形電解方法およびシステムが提案されている(例えば、特許文献2等参照。)。
しかしながら、前記の特許文献1で公知の技術においては、一酸化炭素の生成をメインとしており、また、他に炭化水素化合物等の化合物も生成されるものの、生成量や、種類別比率(生成される複数の炭化水素化合物等の生成比率)のコントロールは一切考慮されていなかった。
そのため、多様な生成物を分離して回収するために、複雑な設備が必要であった。
また、生成された化合物によって利用価値や用途も異なるため、その回収利用ルートも複数準備する必要があり、回収や利用のために設備が多く必要となり、それらの処理のためにエネルギーを投入せざるを得ず、利用効率が低下するという問題があった。
そこで、本発明者らが鋭意研究した結果、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽のカソード側に二酸化炭素を供給し、アノード側に水素を供給して、燃料電池反応により二酸化炭素を酸化剤として電気を起こしつつ、反応中に二酸化炭素を還元できることを見出した。
また、炭酸ガスを還元するための水素源として液体の水あるいは水蒸気を使用する場合には外部から最小限の水の電気分解のための電圧のみを印加することによりプロトン(水素イオン)を生成させた場合にも同様の炭酸ガスの固定化/他の炭化水素化合物の合成が可能であることが分かっている。
さらに、これらの反応より生成される化合物について、生成時の電圧、温度、加湿条件等に応じて、単位時間あたりに生成される複数の炭化水素化合物の生成量および種類別比率をコントロール可能であることを見出した。
そのため、多様な生成物を分離して回収するために、複雑な設備が必要であった。
また、生成された化合物によって利用価値や用途も異なるため、その回収利用ルートも複数準備する必要があり、回収や利用のために設備が多く必要となり、それらの処理のためにエネルギーを投入せざるを得ず、利用効率が低下するという問題があった。

本発明は、上記の知見に基づいて、公知の固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムの課題を解決するものであり、外部からのエネルギーの投入の必要がない、または、少量のエネルギーの投入で済むとともに、反応槽を高温に維持する必要がなく、二酸化炭素を有益な炭化水素化合物として変換することが可能であり、かつ、炭化水素化合物等の生成量や、種類別比率のコントロールを可能とし、利用用途に応じた化合物を大量に生成することが可能となり、生成物の利用効率が向上するとともに、分離回収のための設備も簡素化することが可能な固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムを提供することを目的とするものである。
本請求項1に係る発明は、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽の電極の一方に二酸化炭素を供給し、他方に水素を供給し、炭化水素化合物および水を生成する固体高分子形発電方法であり、もしくは電極の一方に二酸化炭素を供給し、水素の供給源として水蒸気あるいは液体の水を供給しこれを電解することにより炭酸ガスと反応可能なプロトン(水素イオン)を生じさせて反応を起こし炭化水素化合物および水を生成する固体高分子形電解方法である。
さらに本請求項2に係る発明は、前記反応槽の電極間の電圧(電位差)あるいはそれぞれの電極の極板電位を制御し、単位時間あたりに生成される炭化水素化合物の量および種類別比率を変更することにより、前記課題を解決するものである。

本請求項5に係る発明は、請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれかに係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法の構成に加え、前記二酸化炭素および水素を連続的に供給することにより、前記課題を解決するものである。
本請求項6に係る発明は、請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれかに係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法の構成に加え、前記反応槽の温度を200℃以下とし、メタン、メタノール、エタノール、プロパノール、ホルムアルデヒド、アセトアルデヒドの少なくともいずれか一つの成分を生成することにより、前記課題を解決するものである。
本請求項7に係る発明は、請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれかに係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法の構成に加え、前記電極の一方に炭酸ガスを、他方に水または水蒸気を供給し、前記反応槽の前記電極間に印加する電圧を制御することにより、前記課題を解決するものである。
本請求項4に係る発明は、請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれかに係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法の構成に加え、前記供給される二酸化炭素および水素の少なくとも一方を水により加湿し、前記加湿の程度を制御し、単位時間あたりに生成される炭化水素化合物の量および種類別比率を変更することにより、前記課題を解決するものである。
本請求項5に係る発明は、請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれかに係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法の構成に加え、前記二酸化炭素および水素を連続的に供給することにより、前記課題を解決するものである。
本請求項6に係る発明は、請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれかに係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法の構成に加え、前記反応槽の温度を200℃以下とし、メタン、メタノール、エタノール、プロパノール、ホルムアルデヒド、アセトアルデヒドの少なくともいずれか一つの成分を生成することにより、前記課題を解決するものである。
本請求項7に係る発明は、請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれかに係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法の構成に加え、前記電極の一方に炭酸ガスを、他方に水または水蒸気を供給し、前記反応槽の前記電極間に印加する電圧を制御することにより、前記課題を解決するものである。
本請求項8に係る発明は、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽と、前記反応槽の電極の一方に二酸化炭素を供給する二酸化炭素供給手段と、他方に水素を供給する水素供給手段と、生成物を分離・回収する気液分離手段とを備えた固体高分子形発電、または水素供給源として水蒸気あるいは水を電解して炭酸ガスと反応させるシステムであって、前記反応槽の電極間の電圧(電位差)あるいはそれぞれの電極の極板電位を制御する電圧制御手段を備えたことにより、前記課題を解決するものである。
本請求項9に係る発明は、請求項8に係る固体高分子形発電または電解システムの構成に加え、前記反応槽の温度を制御する温度制御手段を備えたことにより、前記課題を解決するものである。
本請求項10に係る発明は、請求項8または請求項9に係る固体高分子形発電または電解システムの構成に加え、前記二酸化炭素供給手段および水素供給手段の少なくとも一方に、加湿のための水を供給する加湿手段が接続されていることにより、前記課題を解決するものである。

本請求項1に係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法および請求項8に係る固体高分子形発電または電解システムによれば、燃料電池反応により二酸化炭素を酸化剤として電気を起こしつつ、反応中に二酸化炭素を還元し、燃料電池からの直接生成物として炭化水素化合物を得ることができるため、外部からのエネルギーの投入の必要がない、または、少量のエネルギーの投入で済むとともに、高温環境維持の必要がなく、エネルギーを生成しつつ二酸化炭素を有益な炭化水素化合物として変換することが可能である。
また、本請求項2に記載の構成によれば、反応槽の電極間の発電電圧あるいは印加電圧を制御することで、炭化水素化合物等の生成量や種類別比率のコントロールが可能となり、利用用途に応じた化合物を大量に生成することが可能となり、生成物の利用効率が向上するとともに、分離回収のための設備も簡素化することが可能となる。
また、外部からのエネルギーの大量投入や高温環境維持の必要がなく、設備を簡素化することが可能なため、宇宙空間のような完全な閉鎖環境で有人活動を行う場合の人の呼気に含まれる二酸化炭素を除去し、炭素資源を回収する技術としても非常に有用である。
また、本請求項2に記載の構成によれば、反応槽の電極間の発電電圧あるいは印加電圧を制御することで、炭化水素化合物等の生成量や種類別比率のコントロールが可能となり、利用用途に応じた化合物を大量に生成することが可能となり、生成物の利用効率が向上するとともに、分離回収のための設備も簡素化することが可能となる。

本請求項7に記載の構成によれば、エネルギーを投入する際にも印加する電圧を最適化することで、投入エネルギーを低く抑えるとともに環境を低温に保つことができ、設備をより簡素化することが可能となる。
特に、サバチエ反応を用いたものや、公知の固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムでは実現できなかった100℃以下の低温環境での実施も可能である。
本請求項4および本請求項10に記載の構成によれば、加湿の程度を制御することにより、さらに細かく炭化水素化合物等の生成量や種類別比率のコントロールが可能となる。

本請求項15に係る再生型燃料電池システムによれば、メタノールを選択的に生成可能な固体高分子形発電または電解システムを組み込むことにより、系内に原料、生成物がクローズした状態でサイクルを組むことができ、メタノールや水を保管時成分とすることで、極めて安全で有用な再生型燃料電池として利用することが可能となる。

本発明の固体高分子形発電または電解方法は、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽の電極の一方に二酸化炭素を供給し、他方に水素を供給し、炭化水素化合物および水を生成する固体高分子形発電または電解方法であって、反応槽のカソードとアノードの間の電圧を制御し、単位時間あたりに生成される炭化水素化合物の量および種類別比率を変更するものである。
また、本発明の固体高分子形発電または電解システムは、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽と、反応槽の電極の一方に二酸化炭素を供給する二酸化炭素供給手段と、反応槽の他方に水素を供給する水素供給手段と、生成物を分離・回収する気液分離手段とを備えた固体高分子形発電または電解システムであって、反応槽の電極間の電圧を制御する電圧制御手段を備えたものである。
いずれも、外部からのエネルギーの投入の必要がない、または、少量のエネルギーの投入で済むとともに、反応槽を高温に維持する必要がなく、エネルギーを生成しつつ二酸化炭素を有益な炭化水素化合物として変換することが可能であり、かつ、炭化水素化合物等の生成量や、種類別比率のコントロールを可能とし、利用用途に応じた化合物を大量に生成することが可能となり、生成物の利用効率が向上するとともに、分離回収のための設備も簡素化することが可能なものであれば、その具体的な実施態様はいかなるものであっても良い。
また、本発明の固体高分子形発電または電解システムは、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽と、反応槽の電極の一方に二酸化炭素を供給する二酸化炭素供給手段と、反応槽の他方に水素を供給する水素供給手段と、生成物を分離・回収する気液分離手段とを備えた固体高分子形発電または電解システムであって、反応槽の電極間の電圧を制御する電圧制御手段を備えたものである。
いずれも、外部からのエネルギーの投入の必要がない、または、少量のエネルギーの投入で済むとともに、反応槽を高温に維持する必要がなく、エネルギーを生成しつつ二酸化炭素を有益な炭化水素化合物として変換することが可能であり、かつ、炭化水素化合物等の生成量や、種類別比率のコントロールを可能とし、利用用途に応じた化合物を大量に生成することが可能となり、生成物の利用効率が向上するとともに、分離回収のための設備も簡素化することが可能なものであれば、その具体的な実施態様はいかなるものであっても良い。
膜電極接合体(MEA)を有する反応槽の温度は、100℃以下とし、ガスを連続的に供給し、必要に応じて循環させることにより反応場を維持するのが望ましい。
また、二酸化炭素を供給する電極の触媒は特に限定されないが、白金ルテニウム合金、あるいはルテニウム、ロジウム等の反応中に生成するメタノールにより被毒されないものが好適である。
二酸化炭素および水素は加湿して供給することが望ましく、このことで、安定な発電または電解を持続することが可能になる。
また、二酸化炭素を供給する電極の触媒は特に限定されないが、白金ルテニウム合金、あるいはルテニウム、ロジウム等の反応中に生成するメタノールにより被毒されないものが好適である。
二酸化炭素および水素は加湿して供給することが望ましく、このことで、安定な発電または電解を持続することが可能になる。
本発明に係る固体高分子形発電または電解システムの第1実施形態について、図面を基に説明する。
固体高分子形発電または電解システム100は、図1、図2に示すように、触媒層114を設けた膜電極接合体113を有する反応槽110と、反応槽110のカソード111側に二酸化炭素を供給する二酸化炭素供給手段120と、反応槽110のアノード112側に水素を供給する水素供給手段130と、生成物を分離・回収する気液分離手段140、150とを備えている。
なお、説明のため反応槽110は1つのセルのみで構成されたものを簡略化して図示しているが、実際の形状はこれに限られるものではなく、また、反応槽110全体として高い発電電圧を得るために複数のセルをスタック状に直列配置するのが望ましい。
固体高分子形発電または電解システム100は、図1、図2に示すように、触媒層114を設けた膜電極接合体113を有する反応槽110と、反応槽110のカソード111側に二酸化炭素を供給する二酸化炭素供給手段120と、反応槽110のアノード112側に水素を供給する水素供給手段130と、生成物を分離・回収する気液分離手段140、150とを備えている。

気液分離手段140、150には、未反応のガスを再び二酸化炭素供給手段120および水素供給手段130から反応槽110への経路に循環させる循環経路141、151を有しており、該循環経路141、151には循環ポンプ142、152が設けられている。
反応槽110によって発電される電力は、図示しない負荷に供給されるが、反応槽110の一方の電極111と他方の電極112の間の発電電圧は、電圧制御手段161によって制御可能に構成されている。
反応槽110の温度は、反応槽温度制御手段162によって制御可能に構成されている。
気液分離手段140、150には、未反応のガスを再び二酸化炭素供給手段120および水素供給手段130から反応槽110への経路に循環させる循環経路141、151を有しており、該循環経路141、151には循環ポンプ142、152が設けられている。
反応槽110によって発電される電力は、図示しない負荷に供給されるが、反応槽110の一方の電極111と他方の電極112の間の発電電圧は、電圧制御手段161によって制御可能に構成されている。
反応槽110の温度は、反応槽温度制御手段162によって制御可能に構成されている。
気液分離手段140、150の温度は、気液分離手段温度制御手段163、166によってそれぞれ独立して制御可能に構成されている。
また、加湿手段121、131の温度および加湿量は、加湿手段温度制御手段164、167および加湿制御手段165、168によってそれぞれ独立して制御可能に構成されている。
さらに、電圧制御手段161、反応槽温度制御手段162、気液分離手段温度制御手段163、166、加湿手段温度制御手段164、167および加湿制御手段165、168は、中央制御手段160によって回収すべき生成物の種類や量に応じて統括制御可能に構成されている。
また、加湿手段121、131の温度および加湿量は、加湿手段温度制御手段164、167および加湿制御手段165、168によってそれぞれ独立して制御可能に構成されている。
さらに、電圧制御手段161、反応槽温度制御手段162、気液分離手段温度制御手段163、166、加湿手段温度制御手段164、167および加湿制御手段165、168は、中央制御手段160によって回収すべき生成物の種類や量に応じて統括制御可能に構成されている。
以上のように構成された本発明の第1実施形態に係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムによる効果について、以下に説明する。
膜電極接合体113の触媒層114にダイレクトメタノール形燃料電池(DMFC)で実績のあるPtRu合金系の異なる二種の触媒を用いたものについて、それぞれ、反応槽110の一方の電極111と他方の電極112の間の発電電圧(電位)を変化させた際の化合物合成比率を、図3、図4に示す。
図3に示すグラフは、触媒としてある組成比のPtRu担持カーボン(以下,触媒A)を1mg/cm2で使用した場合の実験結果であり、図4に示すグラフは、触媒として他の組成比のPtRu担持カーボン(以下、触媒B)を3mg/cm2で使用した場合の実験結果である。
いずれの実験でも、発電電圧(電位)はカウンター電極(水素)により定めた。
膜電極接合体113の触媒層114にダイレクトメタノール形燃料電池(DMFC)で実績のあるPtRu合金系の異なる二種の触媒を用いたものについて、それぞれ、反応槽110の一方の電極111と他方の電極112の間の発電電圧(電位)を変化させた際の化合物合成比率を、図3、図4に示す。
図3に示すグラフは、触媒としてある組成比のPtRu担持カーボン(以下,触媒A)を1mg/cm2で使用した場合の実験結果であり、図4に示すグラフは、触媒として他の組成比のPtRu担持カーボン(以下、触媒B)を3mg/cm2で使用した場合の実験結果である。
いずれの実験でも、発電電圧(電位)はカウンター電極(水素)により定めた。
これらの実験結果から、発電電圧(電位)に依存して化合物の合成比率が変化し、メタンの合成比率が高いほど、アルコール生成比率が低い(電位が低いほど還元が多い)ことが確認され、炭化水素化合物を選択的に生成することが可能であることが確認できる。
なお、図4の条件では、図示していないが、電位が80mV以上の領域でホルムアルデヒドの生成が確認された。

膜電極接合体113の触媒層114にPtRu(触媒B)を3mg/cm2で用いたものについて、反応槽(セル)の温度を変化させた際の化合物合成比率を、図5に示す。
水素は100%に加湿して50ml/minで供給し、発電電圧(電位)40mV~60mVの間で各温度について測定値をプロットした。
縦のレンジ表示が、各温度におけるメタン、メタノール、エタノールの40mV~60mVの間での測定値の範囲であり、曲線グラフが、温度に依存した傾向の曲線である。
炭化水素化合物の組成比は反応槽(セル)の温度に依存して変化し、メタンとそれ以外のアルコールの間に相反する増減傾向が確認できる。
水素は100%に加湿して50ml/minで供給し、発電電圧(電位)40mV~60mVの間で各温度について測定値をプロットした。
縦のレンジ表示が、各温度におけるメタン、メタノール、エタノールの40mV~60mVの間での測定値の範囲であり、曲線グラフが、温度に依存した傾向の曲線である。
炭化水素化合物の組成比は反応槽(セル)の温度に依存して変化し、メタンとそれ以外のアルコールの間に相反する増減傾向が確認できる。
反応槽110を8セルのスタックとした際の発電性能を、図6乃至図8に示す。
図6は、複数の反応槽の温度における電流対電圧、および、電流対出力のグラフ、図7は、反応槽の温度を80℃とした時の電流密度対セル平均電位のグラフ、図8は反応槽の温度を80℃で連続運転した際の時間対電圧、時間対電流のグラフである。
いずれも、電極有効面積30cm2×8セルのスタックを使用し、水素、二酸化炭素ともに2.5L/minで供給した。
図6、図7に示すように、上記の条件下で確実に発電可能である。
また、図8に示すように、発電開始直後のみ不安定ではあるが、すぐに安定し、約4時間の運用期間中の電圧変動もほとんどなく、安定な発電が継続された。
図6は、複数の反応槽の温度における電流対電圧、および、電流対出力のグラフ、図7は、反応槽の温度を80℃とした時の電流密度対セル平均電位のグラフ、図8は反応槽の温度を80℃で連続運転した際の時間対電圧、時間対電流のグラフである。
いずれも、電極有効面積30cm2×8セルのスタックを使用し、水素、二酸化炭素ともに2.5L/minで供給した。
図6、図7に示すように、上記の条件下で確実に発電可能である。
また、図8に示すように、発電開始直後のみ不安定ではあるが、すぐに安定し、約4時間の運用期間中の電圧変動もほとんどなく、安定な発電が継続された。
また、前述の固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムによれば、反応槽(セル)の電圧、温度等の条件を適宜に設定することで、他の炭化水素化合物の生成をコントロールすることも可能である。
例えば、電圧60mV、温度80℃とした際の生成物のクロマトグラフによる分析から、図9に示すように、ホルムアルデヒドの生成が確認できた。
また、電圧60mV、温度95℃とした際の生成物のクロマトグラフによる分析から、図10に示すように、アセトン、および、2-プロパノールの生成が確認できた。
例えば、電圧60mV、温度80℃とした際の生成物のクロマトグラフによる分析から、図9に示すように、ホルムアルデヒドの生成が確認できた。
また、電圧60mV、温度95℃とした際の生成物のクロマトグラフによる分析から、図10に示すように、アセトン、および、2-プロパノールの生成が確認できた。
前述のような固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムによれば、外部からのエネルギーの投入の必要がなく、また、反応槽を高温に維持する必要がない。
さらに、エネルギーを生成しつつ二酸化炭素を有益な炭化水素化合物として変換することが可能であり、かつ、炭化水素化合物等の生成量や、種類別比率のコントロールが可能となる。
そのことで、利用用途に応じた化合物を大量に生成することが可能となり、生成物の利用効率が向上するとともに、分離回収のための設備も簡素化することができる。
このような特性を生かし、例えば、各種産業で原料やエネルギー源として極めて利用価値の高いエタノールに特化して生成することで、二酸化炭素を固定化し、発電によってエネルギーを供給しつつ、有用なエタノールを生成することが可能となり、環境問題、エネルギー問題、資源問題をともに解決することが可能となる。
さらに、エネルギーを生成しつつ二酸化炭素を有益な炭化水素化合物として変換することが可能であり、かつ、炭化水素化合物等の生成量や、種類別比率のコントロールが可能となる。
そのことで、利用用途に応じた化合物を大量に生成することが可能となり、生成物の利用効率が向上するとともに、分離回収のための設備も簡素化することができる。
このような特性を生かし、例えば、各種産業で原料やエネルギー源として極めて利用価値の高いエタノールに特化して生成することで、二酸化炭素を固定化し、発電によってエネルギーを供給しつつ、有用なエタノールを生成することが可能となり、環境問題、エネルギー問題、資源問題をともに解決することが可能となる。
また、メタノールに特化して生成した場合、図11に示すように、充電・放電で可逆の反応であることから、別途の燃料電池と組み合わせたり、本発明の固体高分子形発電または電解システム100の電圧制御手段161を制御して、燃料電池としても作動させることで、系内に原料、生成物がクローズした状態でサイクルを組むことができ、極めて安全で有用な再生型燃料電池として利用することが可能となる。
また、図12に示すように、前述の固体高分子形発電または電解システム100を、ダイレクトメタノール燃料電池システム200、水電解システム300と組み合わせることにより、3ステップの経路をとる再生型燃料電池システムとして構築することも可能で、系内に原料、生成物がクローズした状態でサイクルを組むことができ、メタノールや水を保管時成分とすることで、極めて安全で有用な再生型燃料電池として利用することが可能となる。
さらに、宇宙ステーションやロケット等の完全な閉鎖環境の制御技術として、二酸化炭素除去、元素レベルでの循環、エネルギー生成等の観点から有効に活用できる。
なお、前述の固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムでは反応槽のカソードとアノードの間に電圧を印加していないが、反応槽が発電せず、または発電しつつ、あるいは電圧を印加してもよい。
また、図12に示すように、前述の固体高分子形発電または電解システム100を、ダイレクトメタノール燃料電池システム200、水電解システム300と組み合わせることにより、3ステップの経路をとる再生型燃料電池システムとして構築することも可能で、系内に原料、生成物がクローズした状態でサイクルを組むことができ、メタノールや水を保管時成分とすることで、極めて安全で有用な再生型燃料電池として利用することが可能となる。
さらに、宇宙ステーションやロケット等の完全な閉鎖環境の制御技術として、二酸化炭素除去、元素レベルでの循環、エネルギー生成等の観点から有効に活用できる。
なお、前述の固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムでは反応槽のカソードとアノードの間に電圧を印加していないが、反応槽が発電せず、または発電しつつ、あるいは電圧を印加してもよい。
以下に、電極間に電圧を印加する第2実施形態について図1および図2を用いて説明する。
一方の電極111と他方の電極112の間に電圧を印加する場合には、図示しない電源部により電力が供給されるが、反応槽110の電極111と電極112の間の印加電圧は、電圧制御手段161によって制御可能に構成することができる。
さらに、反応槽110の温度は、反応槽温度制御手段162によって制御可能に構成されるのが好ましい。
一方の電極111と他方の電極112の間に電圧を印加する場合には、図示しない電源部により電力が供給されるが、反応槽110の電極111と電極112の間の印加電圧は、電圧制御手段161によって制御可能に構成することができる。
さらに、反応槽110の温度は、反応槽温度制御手段162によって制御可能に構成されるのが好ましい。
また、二酸化炭素供給手段120から反応槽110への経路には、加湿のための水を供給する加湿手段121が接続されている。
水供給手段は、キャリアガス供給手段132から供給されるキャリアガスに、加湿手段131によって加湿することで水または水蒸気を反応槽110に供給するように構成されている。
気液分離手段140には、未反応のガスを再び二酸化炭素供給手段120から反応槽110への経路に循環させる循環経路141を有しており、該循環経路141には循環ポンプ142が設けられている。
気液分離手段150には、キャリアガスおよび未反応の水蒸気を再び水供給手段から反応槽110への経路に循環させる循環経路151を有しており、該循環経路151には循環ポンプ152が設けられている。
水供給手段は、キャリアガス供給手段132から供給されるキャリアガスに、加湿手段131によって加湿することで水または水蒸気を反応槽110に供給するように構成されている。
気液分離手段140には、未反応のガスを再び二酸化炭素供給手段120から反応槽110への経路に循環させる循環経路141を有しており、該循環経路141には循環ポンプ142が設けられている。
気液分離手段150には、キャリアガスおよび未反応の水蒸気を再び水供給手段から反応槽110への経路に循環させる循環経路151を有しており、該循環経路151には循環ポンプ152が設けられている。
気液分離手段140、150の温度は、気液分離手段温度制御手段163、166によってそれぞれ独立して制御可能に構成されている。
また、加湿手段121、131の温度および加湿量は、加湿手段温度制御手段164、167および加湿制御手段165、168によってそれぞれ独立して制御可能に構成されている。
さらに、電圧制御手段161、反応槽温度制御手段162、気液分離手段温度制御手段163、166、加湿手段温度制御手段164、167および加湿制御手段165、168は、中央制御手段160によって回収すべき生成物の種類や量に応じて統括制御可能に構成されている。
なお、キャリアガスとしては、窒素、アルゴン、ヘリウム等、反応槽での反応や生成物に対して安定な性質の気体であれば、いかなるものであってもよい。
さらに、キャリアガスには水素を含んでもよく、その場合、反応槽での電解によらずに水素を供給できるため、さらに少ないエネルギー投入でよく、供給される水素の量によっては、エネルギー回収も可能となる。
また、加湿手段121、131の温度および加湿量は、加湿手段温度制御手段164、167および加湿制御手段165、168によってそれぞれ独立して制御可能に構成されている。
さらに、電圧制御手段161、反応槽温度制御手段162、気液分離手段温度制御手段163、166、加湿手段温度制御手段164、167および加湿制御手段165、168は、中央制御手段160によって回収すべき生成物の種類や量に応じて統括制御可能に構成されている。

このような第2実施形態に係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムによれば、反応槽の電圧、温度等の条件を適宜に設定することで、他の炭化水素化合物の生成をコントロールすることが可能となる。
例えば、第1実施形態に係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムの場合と同様に、電圧60mV(この「電圧」とは、発電した電圧を指す。水蒸気あるいは水を供給する際には印加する電圧を指す)、温度80℃とした際の生成物のクロマトグラフによる分析から、ホルムアルデヒドの生成が確認できた。
また、電圧60mV(この「電圧」とは、発電した電圧を指す。水蒸気あるいは水を供給する際には印加する電圧を指す)、温度95℃とした際の生成物のクロマトグラフによる分析から、アセトン、および、2-プロパノールの生成が確認できた。
例えば、第1実施形態に係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムの場合と同様に、電圧60mV(この「電圧」とは、発電した電圧を指す。水蒸気あるいは水を供給する際には印加する電圧を指す)、温度80℃とした際の生成物のクロマトグラフによる分析から、ホルムアルデヒドの生成が確認できた。
また、電圧60mV(この「電圧」とは、発電した電圧を指す。水蒸気あるいは水を供給する際には印加する電圧を指す)、温度95℃とした際の生成物のクロマトグラフによる分析から、アセトン、および、2-プロパノールの生成が確認できた。
次に、カソードとアノードの間に電圧を印加する第3実施形態について、図13を基に説明する。
第3実施形態に係る固体高分子形発電または電解システム100aは、キャリアガスを用いずに構成されたものであり、図13に示すように、反応槽110、二酸化炭素供給手段120、気液分離手段140については、第2実施形態に係る固体高分子形発電または電解システム100と同様である。
水供給手段130は、水貯蔵部133から供給される水を加熱手段134によって温度を調節したり水蒸気として反応槽110に供給するように構成されている。
生成物分離手段170には、未反応の水または水蒸気を再び水供給手段130から反応槽110への経路に循環させる循環経路151を有しており、該循環経路151には循環ポンプ152が設けられている。
第3実施形態に係る固体高分子形発電または電解システム100aは、キャリアガスを用いずに構成されたものであり、図13に示すように、反応槽110、二酸化炭素供給手段120、気液分離手段140については、第2実施形態に係る固体高分子形発電または電解システム100と同様である。
水供給手段130は、水貯蔵部133から供給される水を加熱手段134によって温度を調節したり水蒸気として反応槽110に供給するように構成されている。
生成物分離手段170には、未反応の水または水蒸気を再び水供給手段130から反応槽110への経路に循環させる循環経路151を有しており、該循環経路151には循環ポンプ152が設けられている。
反応槽110に供給される電力は、図示しない電源部によって供給されるが、反応槽110の電極111と電極112の間の印加電圧は、電圧制御手段161によって制御可能に構成されている。
反応槽110の温度は、反応槽温度制御手段162によって制御可能に構成されている。
気液分離手段140の温度は、気液分離手段温度制御手段163によって独立して制御可能に構成されている。
加湿手段121の温度および加湿量は、加湿手段温度制御手段164および加湿制御手段165によって独立して制御可能に構成されている。
加熱手段134の温度は、加熱手段温度制御手段169によって独立して制御可能に構成されている。
生成物分離手段170の温度は、生成物分離手段温度制御手段171によって独立して制御可能に構成されている。
さらに、電圧制御手段161、反応槽温度制御手段162、気液分離手段温度制御手段163、加湿手段温度制御手段164、加湿制御手段165、加熱手段温度制御手段169および生成物分離手段温度制御手段171は、中央制御手段160によって回収すべき生成物の種類や量に応じて統括制御可能に構成されている。
反応槽110の温度は、反応槽温度制御手段162によって制御可能に構成されている。
気液分離手段140の温度は、気液分離手段温度制御手段163によって独立して制御可能に構成されている。
加湿手段121の温度および加湿量は、加湿手段温度制御手段164および加湿制御手段165によって独立して制御可能に構成されている。
加熱手段134の温度は、加熱手段温度制御手段169によって独立して制御可能に構成されている。
生成物分離手段170の温度は、生成物分離手段温度制御手段171によって独立して制御可能に構成されている。
さらに、電圧制御手段161、反応槽温度制御手段162、気液分離手段温度制御手段163、加湿手段温度制御手段164、加湿制御手段165、加熱手段温度制御手段169および生成物分離手段温度制御手段171は、中央制御手段160によって回収すべき生成物の種類や量に応じて統括制御可能に構成されている。
なお、第2実施形態または第3実施形態に係る固体高分子形発電または電解方法およびシステムにおいて「反応槽」は電解のみを行ってもよい。
すなわち、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽の一方の電極側に二酸化炭素を供給し、他方の電極側に水または水蒸気を供給し、炭化水素化合物を生成する固体高分子形電解方法である。
また、水素源として水蒸気あるいは水を供給し、これを電解してプロトン(水素イオン)を生成して炭酸ガスを還元し同様の炭化水素化合物を合成することも可能であり、この際に反応槽の電極間の印加電圧を制御し、単位時間あたりに生成される炭化水素化合物の量および種類別比率を変更する固体高分子形電解方法としてもよい。
また、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽と、反応槽の一方の電極側に二酸化炭素を供給する二酸化炭素供給手段と、反応槽の他方の電極側に水または水蒸気を供給する水供給手段と、生成物を分離・回収する気液分離手段とを備えた固体高分子形電解システムであって、反応槽の電極間の印加電圧を制御する電圧制御手段を備えた固体高分子形電解システムとしてもよい。
すなわち、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽の一方の電極側に二酸化炭素を供給し、他方の電極側に水または水蒸気を供給し、炭化水素化合物を生成する固体高分子形電解方法である。
また、水素源として水蒸気あるいは水を供給し、これを電解してプロトン(水素イオン)を生成して炭酸ガスを還元し同様の炭化水素化合物を合成することも可能であり、この際に反応槽の電極間の印加電圧を制御し、単位時間あたりに生成される炭化水素化合物の量および種類別比率を変更する固体高分子形電解方法としてもよい。
また、触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽と、反応槽の一方の電極側に二酸化炭素を供給する二酸化炭素供給手段と、反応槽の他方の電極側に水または水蒸気を供給する水供給手段と、生成物を分離・回収する気液分離手段とを備えた固体高分子形電解システムであって、反応槽の電極間の印加電圧を制御する電圧制御手段を備えた固体高分子形電解システムとしてもよい。
また、その固体高分子形電解システムや固体高分子形電解方法は、上記実施形態に記載の特徴を一部または全部備えていてもよい。
発電を行う構成であっても、水または水蒸気が供給されている場合には、電圧を印加して反応槽で電解を行うことが可能であり、十分な電力によって回収したい生成物を効率よく生成できる。

本発明は、固体高分子を用いた発電または電解や閉鎖環境の制御手段等として用いることができる。
Claims (15)
- 触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽の電極の一方に二酸化炭素を供給し、他方に水素あるいは水蒸気あるいは液体の水を供給し、炭化水素化合物を生成する固体高分子形発電または電解方法。
- 前記反応槽の電極間の発電により生じる電圧または外部から印加する電解電圧を制御し、
単位時間あたりに生成される炭化水素化合物の量および種類別比率を変更することを特徴とする固体高分子形発電または電解方法。 - 前記反応槽の温度を制御し、
単位時間あたりに生成される炭化水素化合物の量および種類別比率を変更することを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の固体高分子形発電または電解方法。 - 前記供給される二酸化炭素および水素の少なくとも一方を水により加湿し、
前記加湿の程度を制御し、単位時間あたりに生成される炭化水素化合物の量および種類別比率を変更することを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれかに記載の固体高分子形発電または電解方法。 - 前記二酸化炭素および水素を連続的に供給することを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれかに記載の固体高分子形発電または電解方法。
- 前記反応槽の温度を200℃以下とし、
メタン、メタノール、エタノール、プロパノール、ホルムアルデヒド、アセトアルデヒドの少なくともいずれか一つの成分を生成することを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれかに記載の固体高分子形発電または電解方法。 - 前記電極の一方に二酸化炭素を、他方に水または水蒸気を供給し、
前記反応槽の前記電極間に印加する電圧を制御することにより、メタン、メタノール、エタノール、プロパノール、ホルムアルデヒド、アセトアルデヒドの少なくともいずれか一つの成分を生成することを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれかに記載の固体高分子形電解方法。 - 触媒層を設けた膜電極接合体を有する反応槽と、前記反応槽の電極の一方に二酸化炭素を供給する二酸化炭素供給手段と、他方に水素あるいは水蒸気あるいは液体の水を供給する手段と、生成物を分離・回収する気液分離手段とを備えた固体高分子形発電または電解システムであって、
前記反応槽の電極間の電圧を制御する電圧制御手段を備えたことを特徴とする固体高分子形発電または電解システム。 - 前記反応槽の温度を制御する温度制御手段を備えたことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の固体高分子形発電または電解システム。
- 前記二酸化炭素供給手段および水素供給手段の少なくとも一方に、加湿のための水を供給する加湿手段が接続されていることを特徴とする請求項8または請求項9に記載の固体高分子形発電または電解システム。
- 前記気液分離手段が、未反応のガスを再び二酸化炭素供給手段および水素供給手段の少なくとも一方に循環させる循環経路を有することを特徴とする請求項8乃至請求項10に記載の固体高分子形発電または電解システム。
- 前記反応槽、気液分離手段および加湿手段がそれぞれ独立した温度制御手段を有し、
前記加湿手段が加湿制御手段を有していることを特徴とする請求項8乃至請求項11のいずれかに記載の固体高分子形発電または電解システム。 - 前記電圧制御手段が、逆反応で電力を供給して二酸化炭素および水素を生成可能に構成されていることを特徴とする請求項8乃至請求項12のいずれかに記載の固体高分子形発電または電解システム。
- 前記電圧制御手段、加湿制御手段および各温度制御手段の複数を、回収すべき生成物の種類や量に応じて、統括制御する中央制御手段を備えたことを特徴とする請求項8乃至請求項13のいずれかに記載の固体高分子形発電または電解システム。
- 請求項8乃至請求項14のいずれかに記載の固体高分子形発電または電解システムと、ダイレクトメタノール燃料電池システムおよび水電解機能とを組み合わせて構成される再生型燃料電池システム。
