Abstract

This utility model relates to the food industry and can be used in the production of confectionery products, more particularly candies. In a candy comprising a body having a coating of edible gold, the coating is in the form of a continuous shell of gold leaf; a layer of glaze can be located between the continuous shell of gold leaf and the body, wherein the shell is connected to the layer of glaze by means of confectioners' varnish. This prevents separation of the edible gold coating from the body of the candy and also prevents soiling of the hands as the confectionery begins to melt; further, this solves the problem of providing a coating with a smooth surface.
