Definitions
- the present invention relates to a vehicle that stops idling when a signal is stopped.
- Vehicles that stop idling can significantly improve fuel efficiency by stopping engine idling when waiting for traffic lights.
- the alternator is driven by the kinetic energy of the vehicle to charge the battery.
- the battery that supplies electric power to the starter motor is configured to be charged by the alternator.
- a lead battery having a rated voltage of 12V is often mounted due to the characteristics of the battery.
- the lead battery has a relatively large charging resistance, there is a drawback that the regenerative power cannot be charged efficiently.
- a vehicle that stops idling stops the engine when it stops due to a signal, etc. while the ignition switch that is the main switch of the vehicle is kept on, and restarts the engine when the signal changes. It is necessary to start and run.
- This vehicle supplies electric power from the lead battery to the starter motor every time the engine is restarted.
- the starter motor consumes a very large amount of current, and when the engine is restarted, the voltage of the lead battery is temporarily significantly reduced, for example, to about 9 V or less, that is, in a state of instantaneous drop.
- the voltage of the lead battery drops momentarily, there is a drawback that normal operation cannot be assured due to a temporary malfunction of a vehicle control unit or other electrical equipment operating with the lead battery as a power source.
- These power supply devices have a lithium-ion secondary battery connected as a sub-battery in parallel with the lead battery.
- the lead battery and the lithium ion secondary battery are charged by an alternator.
- these power supply devices have a relay connected between the lead battery and the lithium ion secondary battery, and when power is supplied to the starter motor, the relay is switched and the lead battery or the lithium ion secondary battery is switched. Power is supplied from the battery to the starter motor.
- This power supply device can be arranged in a cabin to prevent deterioration of the lithium ion secondary battery, which is a sub-battery, due to heat and extend the life.
- An important object of the present invention is to provide an idling stop vehicle capable of reducing noise generated when switching a relay while preventing deterioration of a sub-battery due to heat.
- the vehicle for idling stop includes an engine 21 for driving the vehicle, a starter motor 22 for starting the engine 21, and a starter battery 1 for supplying electric power to the starter motor 22, and the engine 21 at the time of idling. And the engine 21 can be restarted by the starter motor 22. Further, the vehicle to be idling stopped includes a standby power storage system 10 connected in parallel with the starter battery 1, an alternator 23 that regenerates power when the vehicle is decelerated and charges the starter battery 1 and the standby power storage system 10, and an engine.
- positioned are provided.
- the reserve power storage system 10 controls the relay 3 to be in an on state and stops idling when the electrical storage unit 2 connected in parallel to the starter battery 1 via the relay 3 and the alternator 23 generate power.
- the relay control circuit 11 controls the relay 3 to be turned off when the engine 21 is restarted, and the relay 3 is disposed in the engine room 5.
- the above vehicles have the feature that the noise generated when switching the relay can be reduced while preventing the standby power storage system from being deteriorated by heat. This is because the above-described vehicle has a spare power storage system connected in parallel to the starter battery in the cabin and a relay in the engine room.
- the environmental temperature of the electrical storage unit increases during the summer and causes deterioration of the battery and the like.
- the engine room of the vehicle becomes abnormally hot due to exhaust heat from the engine and exhaust pipe, exhaust heat from the radiator, exhaust heat from the cooling condenser, etc., but the cabin is cooled or ventilated to make it comfortable for the driver. Held at temperature.
- the electrical storage unit disposed in the cabin is not heated to an abnormally high temperature, and deterioration due to a temperature rise can be considerably reduced.
- the relay since the relay is connected to the electrical storage unit, the lead wire can be shortened by being arranged in the vicinity of the electrical storage unit.
- the vehicle of the present invention has a relay connected to the electrical storage unit in the cabin. Not in the engine room. For this reason, there is a feature that noise generated when switching on and off can be reduced while simplifying the sound insulation structure of the relay.
- the starter battery 1 can be used as the lead battery 1A in the vehicle that stops idling according to the present invention.
- This vehicle is characterized in that a large current is supplied from the lead battery to the starter motor, and the engine can be reliably restarted with the starter motor. This is because the discharge resistance of a lead battery is extremely small and has excellent discharge characteristics.
- the electrical storage unit can be prevented from being deteriorated due to a large current discharge.
- the vehicle that stops idling according to the present invention can use the starter battery 1 as the lead battery 1A and the electrical storage unit 2 as the nickel metal hydride battery 2A. Since the nickel hydride battery has a rated voltage of 1.2V, the rated voltage of the electrical storage unit can be set to 12V by connecting 10 nickel hydride batteries in series. Therefore, the rated voltage of the electrical storage unit and the starter battery can be made substantially the same voltage by connecting the 10 nickel metal hydride batteries in series to form the electrical storage unit. Therefore, in the above vehicle, the starter battery and the electrical storage unit are connected in parallel without using a DC / DC converter, and both the starter battery and the electrical storage unit are charged in a balanced manner with the regenerative power generated by the alternator. it can.
- the electrical storage unit 2 can be a lithium ion secondary battery.
- This vehicle is characterized in that the charge / discharge capacity can be increased while the power storage unit for electrical equipment is reduced in size and weight.
- the vehicle for idling stop uses the electrical storage unit 2 as a nickel metal hydride battery 2A to supply electric power from the electrical storage unit 2 to the electrical equipment 20 of the vehicle that stops idling without going through a DC / DC converter. Can do.
- This vehicle is characterized in that it can stably supply operating power to the electrical equipment from the electrical storage unit even when the engine is restarted without using a DC / DC converter. This is because the nickel metal hydride battery has excellent constant voltage characteristics.
- the electrical equipment 20 to which power is supplied from the electrical storage unit 2 can include an electric power steering and a control unit for the vehicle for idling stop.
- This vehicle can operate the electric power steering normally even in the restart state, and can prevent malfunction such as reset due to a momentary drop in the power supply voltage of the control unit of the vehicle that is idling stopped.
- the vehicle that stops idling according to the present invention can supply the operating power from the starter battery 1 to the standby power storage system 10 by making the rated capacity of the starter battery 1 larger than the rated capacity of the electrical storage unit 2.
- This vehicle has a feature that it can stably supply operating power from a starter battery having a large rated capacity to a circuit of a standby power storage system.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram of a vehicle that performs idling stop according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- the vehicle in FIG. 1 includes a starter battery 1 that supplies power to a starter motor 22 that starts an engine 21, and a standby power storage system 10 that includes an electrical storage unit 2 connected in parallel to the starter battery 1 via a relay 3. And a relay control circuit 11 that controls the relay 3 to be turned on and off, and an alternator 23 that charges both the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 with the regenerative power of the vehicle.
- the regenerative braking vehicle rotates the alternator 23 with the energy of movement when decelerating.
- the wheel 24 rotates the engine 21, and the engine 21 rotates the alternator 23.
- the rotational torque of the alternator 23 brakes the vehicle via the engine 21 and decelerates.
- the electric power generated by the alternator 23 by regenerative braking increases in proportion to the energy of vehicle motion.
- the kinetic energy of the vehicle increases in proportion to the product of the vehicle weight and the square of the speed. For example, a 1 ton vehicle traveling at 60 Km / hr has a kinetic energy of about 40 Wh. Assuming that the battery can be charged with 50% of the kinetic energy, an electric vehicle running at 60 km / hour can store 20 Wh of power in the battery each time it stops after waiting for one signal.
- the vehicle in FIG. 1 has an electrical storage unit 2 connected in parallel with the starter battery 1 in order to efficiently charge with regenerative power.
- the starter battery 1 is a lead battery 1A. Since the lead battery 1A has a very low discharge resistance and is excellent in a large current discharge characteristic, a large current is supplied to the starter motor 22 to smoothly restart the engine 21.
- the starter battery is not limited to the lead battery, and any battery that can supply power to the starter motor and restart the engine can be used.
- the electrical storage unit 2 for electrical equipment is a secondary battery that is more excellent in charging characteristics than the lead battery 1A, and is a nickel-hydrogen battery 2A.
- non-aqueous electrolyte secondary batteries such as lithium ion secondary batteries and lithium polymer batteries can also be used for the electrical storage unit.
- the nickel-metal hydride battery 2A has extremely low charging resistance and excellent high-current charging characteristics, and non-aqueous electrolyte secondary batteries such as lithium ion secondary batteries are light and can increase the charge / discharge capacity.
- a secondary battery is used for the electrical storage unit is described.
- the present invention is not limited to or in addition to the secondary battery as the electrical storage unit.
- Capacitors such as multilayer capacitors (EDLC) can also be used.
- the starter battery 1 is a lead battery 1A having a rated voltage of 12V. However, a lead battery with a rated voltage of 24V, 36V, or 48V can also be used as the starter battery. Since the electrical storage unit 2 is connected to the starter battery 1 without going through a DC / DC converter, the number connected in series is adjusted to make the rated voltage equal to or approximately equal to the lead battery 1A.
- the electrical storage unit 2 of the nickel metal hydride battery 2A connected in parallel to the starter battery 1 which is a 12V lead battery 1A connects the ten nickel metal hydride batteries 2A in series to a rated voltage of 12V.
- the alternator 23 charges both the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2. Therefore, when the alternator 23 is in the regenerative power generation state, the relay control circuit 11 turns on the relay 3 to charge both the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 with the regenerative power generation.
- the vehicle stops the engine 21 in a state where it is not traveling, such as waiting for a signal, to improve fuel efficiency. That is, idling is stopped to improve fuel efficiency.
- This vehicle needs to restart the engine 21 when the vehicle is driven from the idling stop state.
- the starter switch 25 of the starter motor 22 is switched to the on state.
- the starter motor 22 has a very small resistance in order to increase the rotational torque. For this reason, in the ON state of the starter switch 25, the voltage of the starter battery 1 is reduced from about 12V to about 9V. In particular, when the starter battery 1 deteriorates and the internal resistance increases, the voltage may drop to 9 V or less when the starter switch 25 is on.
- the vehicle that stops idling temporarily reduces the voltage of the starter battery 1 every time the engine 21 is restarted.
- An instantaneous drop in which the voltage of the battery temporarily decreases cannot guarantee a stable operation of the electrical equipment 20 that is supplying operating power from now on, and causes a malfunction.
- all of the electrical equipment 20 is in an operating state, unlike the state where the ignition switch 26 is turned on and the engine 21 is first started.
- the state in which the ignition switch 26 is turned on first can be assured of stable operation by setting the electrical equipment 20 to the operating state after the engine 21 is started.
- restarting the engine 21 instantaneously lowers the battery voltage while keeping the electrical equipment 20 in an operating state, and thus the electrical equipment 20 cannot be guaranteed to operate normally.
- the vehicle in FIG. 1 does not supply operating power from the starter battery 1 to the electrical device 20 so that the supply voltage to the electrical device 20 does not drop instantaneously when the engine 21 is restarted, that is, the electrical storage unit 2 Is disconnected from the starter battery 1, and operating power is supplied from the electrical storage unit 2 to the electrical equipment 20. Therefore, the relay control circuit 11 switches the relay 3 to the OFF state in a state where power is supplied to the starter motor 22, that is, in the ON state of the starter switch 25.
- the electrical equipment 20 to which the operating power is supplied from the electrical storage unit 2 is an electrical equipment that needs to ensure normal operation even when the starter battery 1 is instantaneously lowered, for example, electric power steering, or control of a vehicle that stops idling. Such as a unit microcomputer.
- Various electric devices 20 are mounted on the vehicle, but it is not always necessary to supply operating power to all the electric devices from the electric storage unit when the engine is restarted.
- an electrical device such as a defrosting heater, an air conditioner fan motor, an audio device, a navigation device, or the like that does not suffer from a problem caused by a sag can be supplied with operating power from the starter motor.
- the engine when the engine is restarted, it is possible to supply operating power to all the electrical equipment from the electrical storage unit.
- the engine restart state which electrical equipment is supplied with operating power from the electrical storage unit is set in consideration of the rated capacity of the electrical storage unit.
- the relay control circuit 11 detects the ON signal of the starter switch 25 transmitted from the vehicle side, and switches the relay 3 to the OFF state. That is, the starter switch 25 is on and the relay 3 is kept off. When the starter switch 25 is switched to the off state, the relay 3 is switched to the on state, and the electrical storage unit 2 is connected in parallel with the starter battery 1.
- the standby power storage system 10 of FIG. 1 detects the battery state such as the electrical storage unit 2, the fuse 18 connected in series with the electrical storage unit 2, and the voltage, current, temperature, etc. of the electrical storage unit 2.
- An arithmetic circuit 13 incorporating a CPU for calculating a battery state detected by the detecting circuit 12, a communication circuit 14 connected to the arithmetic circuit 13, and a constant voltage power supply 15 for supplying operating power to the detection circuit 12
- the high-side switch 16 that supplies power from the starter battery 1 to the constant voltage power supply 15, the key input detection circuit 17 to which the signal of the ignition switch 26 is input from the vehicle side, and the relay that switches the relay 3 off at the time of restart And a control circuit 11.
- This standby power storage system 10 detects this signal by the key input detection circuit 17 when the ignition switch 26 of the vehicle is switched on.
- the key input detection circuit 17 detects the ON signal of the ignition switch 26 and switches the high side switch 16 ON.
- the ON signal high side switch 16 supplies operating power to the constant voltage power supply 15 and the relay control circuit 11. .
- the operating power is supplied from the starter battery 1 having a large rated capacity. Although the voltage of the starter battery 1 temporarily drops due to a momentary drop, the constant voltage power supply 15 supplies a stabilized voltage to the arithmetic circuit 13.
- the standby power storage system 10 switches the arithmetic circuit 13 and the relay control circuit 11 to an operating state when the ignition switch 26 is turned on.
- the arithmetic circuit 13 and the relay control circuit 11 are in a dormant state to reduce power consumption.
- the ignition switch 26 is turned on, that is, in a state where the driver gets on the vehicle and the vehicle is running, when idling is stopped and then the engine 21 is restarted, the starter switch 25 is turned on from the vehicle side to the standby power storage system 10.
- the signal is transmitted to the arithmetic circuit 13 via the communication circuit 14.
- the arithmetic circuit 13 detects the ON signal of the starter switch 25, the arithmetic circuit 13 switches the relay 3 to the OFF state via the relay control circuit 11.
- the relay 3 is turned off to supply power from only the starter battery 1 to the starter motor 22, and the electrical storage unit 2 is disconnected from the starter motor 22 and Operating power is supplied to the device 20.
- the relay control circuit 11 switches the relay 3 to the on state and connects the electrical storage unit 2 in parallel with the starter battery 1.
- the reserve power storage system 10 connects the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 in parallel at a timing other than the restart timing of the engine 21.
- the alternator 23 charges the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 to prevent overdischarge and overcharge.
- the alternator 23 When the voltages of the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 connected in parallel with each other drop below the minimum voltage, the alternator 23 generates power and charges the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2.
- a vehicle that performs regenerative braking charges both the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 while the vehicle is braking.
- the engine 21 is not charged by driving the alternator 23, but the regenerative power is charged. Even in the state, when the voltage of the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 drops below the minimum voltage, the engine 21 drives the alternator 23 to charge it. In a state where the regenerative power generation amount is too large and the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 are overcharged, the output of the alternator 23 is limited to a small amount to prevent overcharge.
- the relay 3 connects the electrical storage unit 2 and the starter battery 1 in parallel in the on state, charges both the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 with regenerative power, and stores the electrical storage in the off state.
- the unit 2 is disconnected from the starter battery 1, and operating power is supplied to the electrical equipment 20 only from the electrical storage unit 2.
- the starter battery 1 and the electrical storage unit 2 are rapidly charged with a large current in a short time.
- a vehicle that charges the electrical storage unit 2 with a larger current than the starter battery 1 by making the charging resistance of the electrical storage unit 2 smaller than the charging resistance of the starter battery 1 corresponds to the relay 3 during regenerative power generation. A large current flows.
- the alternator 23 with an output current of 200 A charges the electrical storage unit 2 with a large current of about 200 A during regenerative braking, so the relay 3 has a large current capacity, that is, a relay 3 having a large current capacity. Need to use.
- the relay 3 having a large current capacity has a large movable part, and generates a large noise and vibration when switching on and off. This is because the large movable contact collides with the fixed contact, or moves away from the fixed contact and collides with the stopper.
- the reserve power storage system 10 uses a nickel-metal hydride battery 2A or a lithium ion secondary battery that has a charge / discharge capacity larger than the starter battery 1 relative to its weight or volume as the power storage unit 2 for electrical equipment.
- these batteries have a characteristic that the deterioration becomes severe as the temperature rises. For this reason, when the reserve power storage system 10 is disposed in the engine room 5, the temperature becomes high and the deterioration becomes serious.
- the electrical storage unit 2 is charged with a larger current than the starter battery 1 by regenerative power generation, the amount of heat generated in this state is large, and the temperature rise in itself is also large.
- the standby power storage system 10 is disposed in a cabin 6 such as a passenger compartment or a trunk room of a vehicle.
- the temperature in the cabin 6 is lower than that in the engine room 5, and in particular, even in the summer when the temperature rise is extremely high, the cabin 6 is cooled to lower the temperature. For this reason, deterioration of the electrical storage unit 2 due to temperature rise can be prevented in an ideal state.
- the standby power storage system 10 is disposed in the cabin 6 to prevent the electrical storage unit 2 from deteriorating, but the relay 3 that connects the electrical storage unit 2 to the starter battery 1 is provided in the engine room 5. Deploy. This is to reduce the noise level that can be switched on and off. Since the cabin 6 of the vehicle is partitioned by the engine room 5 and the metal plate 7 to block the noise of the engine room 5, the relay 3 is arranged in the engine room 5 and the noise at the time of switching of the relay 3 is set. Can be sound-insulated. Since the relay 3 connects the electrical storage unit 2 to the starter battery 1, the relay 3 is fixed to the vehicle chassis in the vicinity of the starter battery 1.
- the vehicle of the present invention is a vehicle that stops idling, and can be suitably used for a vehicle that can be connected in parallel to a starter battery via a relay.

Abstract
