Definitions
- the present invention relates to a tyre-changing machine.
- tyre-changing machines are generally used to remove a tyre from its rim.
- the tyre-changing machines known to date generally consist of a bearing frame with which is associated a supporting element of a wheel and a base element connected to a tool meant to cooperate with the tyre for its removal.
- the supporting element is at least mobile in rotation with respect to the frame around a relative axis and is reciprocally mobile with respect to the base element so as to permit inserting the tool between the tyre and the rim and removing the tyre itself.
- the tool is in turn mobile with respect to the base element between two relative work positions. More in detail, the tool is mobile between a first position, wherein it is suitable for inserting itself inside the tyre to be removed, and a second position, wherein it is shifted with respect to the first position and allows removing the tyre from its rim.
- removable locking means are provided suitable for making the tool integral with the base element in the work positions of interest.
- Such locking means are made up of a pin which the operator inserts and removes manually through the holes defined both on the tool and on the base element respectively to allow reciprocal movement and locking.
- the lock pin is in fact unable, due to its weight, to insert itself inside the holes obtained on the base element and on the tool, and consequently, the operator has to make a series of attempts, therefore applying a force on it in the direction of the base element, until the holes are correctly aligned the one with the other.
- the performance of these operations is anything but easy. Description of the Invention
- the main aim of the present invention is to provide a tyre-changing machine which allows to overcome the drawbacks of prior art and, in particular that allows to make, with respect to known machines, locking of tool easier with respect to the base element in the predefined work positions.
- one object of the present invention is to minimise the job of the operator in the tool locking phases with respect to the base element.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a tyre-changing machine which allows to overcome the mentioned drawbacks of the state of the art in the ambit of a simple, rational, easy and effective to use as well as low cost solution.
- said locking means comprise at least one locking element movable at least with respect to said base element and fluid-dynamic control means operatively connected to said locking element and which may be operated to move the locking element itself between a release configuration, in which it allows said tool to be shifted with respect to said base element, and an engagement configuration, in which it cooperates with said tool and with said base element to lock them reciprocally in said work positions.

- Figure 12 is a perspective view of the tool in figure 1 1 ;
- Figure 13 is a perspective view of the base element of the machine according to the invention.
- the machine 1 comprises a bearing frame 2 with which are associated at least a supporting element 3 of a wheel R, which can be made to rotate around a relative axis, and at least a base element 4, which supports at least a tool 5 alternately mobile with respect to the base element itself between at least two predefined work positions and suitable for cooperating with the wheel R.
- the supporting element 3 comprises engagement means 40 for engaging with the wheel R.
- wheel R is meant the assembly made up of the rim C, which is sustained by the supporting element 3, and of the tyre P associated with the rim C and intended to be removed from same.
- the tool 5 is mobile between a first work position, wherein it is suitable for inserting itself inside the tyre P, and a second work position, wherein it is shifted with respect to the first work position to permit the extraction of the tyre P from the relative rim C. During use, therefore, in the second work position, the tool 5 is moved away from the rim C with respect to the first work position.
- the supporting element 3 and the base element 4 are reciprocally mobile. More in detail, the supporting element 3 and the base element 4 are reciprocally mobile so as to allow the shift of the tool 5 with respect to the wheel R along at least two directions transversal to one another.
- the supporting element 3 is mobile in translation with respect to frame 2 along at least two directions transversal to one another, identified by the reference numbers 6a and 6b. More in detail, the supporting element 3 is connected to the frame 2 by means of two slide connections 26a and 26b of the type known to the technician in the sector. The shifts of the supporting element 3 along the directions 6a and 6b and the rotation of same around the relative axis are controlled by relative motor means identified in figure 1 by the reference numbers 27, 28.
- the base element 4 is in turn mobile in translation along a third direction 7. More in particular, the base element 4 is connected to a sustaining element 30 in turn associated with the frame 2 by means of a slide connection 31.
- the sustaining element 30 comprises means for moving the base element 4 not described in detail here being of the type known to the technician in the sector and being fitted on machines on the market at the time of filing the present application.
- the tool 5 comprises at least removal means 5a of the tyre P.
- the tool 5 also comprises bead breaking means 5b of the tyre P associated integrally with the removal means 5a.
- the removal means 5a are intended to be inserted between the tyre P and the rim C and are suitable for removing the tyre P from the rim C by effect of their shift from the first to the second work position.
- the removal means 5a are made up of an element with elongated shape, the extremity portion of which is shaped in such a way as to define an oxbow able to receive the edge of the tyre P.
- the bead breaking means 5b instead, are made up of a substantially circular element having a convex profile, which is used to detach the edge of the tyre P from the rim C when the latter have become fast together following prolonged use.
- the base element 4 is mobile in rotation with respect to frame 2 around a first axis 8.
- the tool 5 is associated integral in rotation with the base element 4 around the first axis itself so as to bring the removal means 5a and the bead breaking means 5b selectively in correspondence to the wheel R.
- the tool 5 is mobile in rotation with respect to the base element 4 along a second axis 9 to enable this to shift between the above work positions. More in detail, the tool 5 and the base element 4 are connected in rotation by means of a pin 34, which therefore defines the second axis 9. The first and the second rotation axis are transversal the one to the other.
- the machine 1 then comprises removable locking means 10 of the tool 5 with respect to the base element 4 in each work position.
- the locking means 10 are therefore suitable for fastening and releasing the tool 5 with respect to the base element 4.
- the locking means 10 comprise at least a locking element 1 1 movable at least with respect to the base element 4 and fluid- dynamic control means 12 operatively connected to the locking element 1 1.
- the control means 12 can be operated to alternately move the locking element 1 1 between a release configuration, wherein it allows the tool 5 to shift with respect to the base element 4, and an engagement configuration, wherein it cooperates with the tool 5 and with the base element 4 to lock them reciprocally in the above-mentioned work positions.
- the locking element 1 1 has only two operating configurations, i.e., the release configuration, wherein it is released from the base element 4, and the engagement configuration, wherein it is suitable for engaging with the base element itself and with the tool 5 when the latter finds itself in the above predefined work positions.
- the locking element 1 1 is consequently stopped in each operating configuration until the control means 12 activate its shift.
- control means 12 can be manually operated by an operator.
- the locking means 10 comprise a fluid-dynamic cylinder 13 and the control means 12 comprise a fluid-dynamic circuit 14 operatively connected to the cylinder 13.
- the locking element 1 1 corresponds to the piston of the cylinder 13 and is consequently moved by the fluid-dynamic circuit 14 between its end-of-stroke positions.
- the fluid-dynamic circuit 14 therefore comprises two flow ducts for the work fluid which are connected to the two chambers of the cylinder 13 which act on the locking element 1 1.
- the ducts 14 pass inside a tubular element 33 associated integral with the base element 4.
- the fluid-dynamic circuit 14 therefore rotates integral with the base element 4 around the first axis 8.
- the control means 12 also comprise a valve 32 associated with the circuit 14 and a switch 15 which can be manually operated to command the valve 32 so as to control the introduction and delivery of the work fluid in the fluid-dynamic circuit 14.
- control means 12 and consequently the fluid-dynamic circuit 14 and the cylinder 13, are of the pneumatic type.
- Such seats 16 are distinct the one from the other and define the work positions of the tool 5.
- the locking element 4 is removed from the seats 16 in its release configuration while in the engagement configuration it fits into one of these when the tool reaches the relative work position.
- the locking element 4 therefore fits into a seat 16 following alignment with same by effect of the shift of the tool 5 from one work position to another.
- the base element 4 has a reference surface 17 placed between the seats 16.
- the locking element 1 following its shift towards the relative engagement configuration operated by the control means 12, presses against the reference surface 17 and automatically fits into one of the seats 16 when the tool 5 reaches the work position defined by same, i.e., when the locking element 1 1 is substantially aligned with the corresponding seat 16.
- the locking element 1 1 is therefore kept pressed by the control means 12 against the reference surface 17 until it is substantially aligned with one of the seats 16.
- the term “substantially” is used here to mean that the locking element 1 1 is suitable for inserting itself inside the seats 16 even in the event of these not being perfectly aligned with one another but being in a reciprocal position such as to allow them to be reached by the locking element in its engagement configuration.
- the work positions therefore correspond to the positions of the tool 5 with respect to the base element 4 such as to allow inserting the locking element 1 1 inside one of the seats 16.
- the body 13a of the cylinder 13 is integrally associated with the tool 5.
- the locking element 1 1 therefore moves together with the tool 5 during its shift from one work position to the other.
- the tool 5 is fitted on the portion of the base element 4 wherein are defined the seats 16, the latter being of the through type, and has a pair of holes 18 arranged on opposite sides with respect to the base element itself.
- the locking element 1 1 is fitted into only one of the holes 18 in the release configuration while in the engagement configuration, and therefore with the tool in one of the work positions, it is fitted into both the holes 18 passing through one of the seats 16.
- the locking element 1 1 is consequently raised with respect to the seats 16 in its release configuration, while when it is shifted towards the engagement configuration it rests against the reference surface 17 during the rotation of the tool from one work position to the other and inserts itself in one of the seats 16 when the tool reaches the relative work position, thus definitively moving to the engagement configuration.
- the first thing to do is fit the wheel R on the supporting element 3, making it integral with same.
- the tool 5 is then positioned in the first work position and the control means 12 are operated to move the locking element 1 1 to the engagement configuration. More in particular, following the operation of the control means 12 and with the tool 5 in the first work position, the locking element 1 1 inserts itself in both the holes 18 passing through the seat 16 relating to the first work position itself. In this configuration, therefore, the locking element 1 1 engages both with the base element 4 and with the tool 5, reciprocally integrating them.
- the operator operates the machine 1 so as to move the supporting element 3 and/or the base element 4 along the respective directions 6a, 6b and 7, so as to introduce the tool 5 inside the tyre P.
- the tool 5 will now have to be moved to the second work position.
- the operator operates the control means 12 to move the locking element 1 1 to the release configuration and thus allow the tool 5 to shift with respect to the base element 4.
- the supporting element 3 and/or the base element 4 are moved again so as to shift the tool 5 towards the second work position, wherein it is moved away from the rim C with respect to the first work position.
- the operator operates the control means 12 to move the locking element 1 1 towards the engagement configuration.
- the locking element 1 1 therefore moves to an intermediate configuration during the shift of the tool 5 from one work position to another and automatically reaches the engagement configuration once the tool itself has reached the second work position, thus locking it with respect to the base element.
- the locking element 1 1 presses, following the operation of the control means 12 to move it to the engagement configuration, against the reference surface 17 and then inserts itself in the relevant seat 16 once this has been reached.
- the tool 5 applies a traction force on the edge of the tyre P moving it away from the rim C.
- the wheel R is then operated in rotation around the relative axis so as to remove the tyre P from the rim C.
- control means 12 are operated to move the locking element 1 1 to release configuration, so as to disengage it from the base element 4 and consequently allow the shift of the tool 5 with respect to same.
- a force is applied on the tool 5 in a direction opposite to the previous one, so as to cause its shift towards the first work position.
- the operator intervenes on the control means 12 so as to shift the locking element 1 1 from the release configuration to the engagement configuration.
- the locking element 1 1 moves to an intermediate configuration wherein, during the rotation of the tool 5 with respect to the base element 4 in the direction of the first work position, it presses against the reference surface 17.
- the locking element 1 1 then moves automatically to the engagement configuration just as soon as the tool 5 reaches the second work position.
- the locking element 1 1 inserts itself in the relative seat 16 by effect of the thrust applied by the control means 12 on same.
- the operator rotates the base element 4 with respect to the first axis 8 so as to make the tool 5 rotate by about 180°, thus moving the bead breaking means themselves in correspondence to the wheel R.
- the machine according to the invention permits achieving the proposed objects and in particular the fact is underlined that the action applied by the fluid-dynamic control means on the locking element permits moving the locking element itself, shifting it alternately between the release configuration and the engagement configuration, without the operator having to intervene manually in any way and apply a force on it.
- the fluid-dynamic control means allow moving the locking element automatically to the engagement configuration just as soon as the tool has reached the work positions, without the operator having to check the reciprocal position of the tool itself and of the base element in any way.
