Description

AN OVEN
The present invention relates to an oven wherein the oven cavity is illuminated.
In ovens, the oven cavity is illuminated for viewing whether or not the foodstuff being cooked therein is cooked. Mostly, lamps that are mounted to the ceiling of the oven cavity are used in order to illuminate the oven cavity. However, a cut-out needs to be formed in the ceiling in order to mount the lamp. Since the cut-out formed in the ceiling of the oven cavity results in the hot air inside the oven cavity to leak out, this situation causes increase in energy consumption of the oven.
In the state of the art German Patent Application No. DE102009000655, a household appliance comprising a light source that provides the cooking chamber to be illuminated is described. In the household appliance of the present invention, the light emitted by the light source is directed into the cooking chamber with one light guide disposed on the side wall of the cooking chamber and one on the door. The light guide disposed on the door can move together with the door
The aim of the present invention is the realization of an oven wherein the oven cavity is provided to be illuminated and energy consumption is lowered.
The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a casing surrounding the oven cavity, having a ceiling, at least one heater providing the oven cavity to be heated, disposed on the ceiling so as to face the oven cavity and a support disposed on the ceiling, whereon the heaters are mounted to be supported. The oven furthermore comprises a light source disposed between the casing and the body and a light guide mounted on the support, one end connected to the light source, the other end extending into the oven cavity, that directs the light emitted by the light source into the oven cavity. By means of the light guide, the light emitted by the light source is delivered to the oven cavity and thus the oven cavity is provided to be illuminated. The light guide is carried by the support that also carries the heaters. Thus, placing the light guide inside the oven cavity is facilitated. The need of forming a new opening on the casing for disposing the light guide is not required. Consequently, losses in energy consumption are prevented by providing the preservation of the heat of the oven cavity.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the light guide is disposed on the ceiling so as to face the oven cavity. The light guide is situated almost in the same plane as the heaters. Thus, the interior of the oven cavity is provided to be illuminated effectively.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the end of the light guide extending into the oven cavity almost extends towards the center of the ceiling. The light carried by the light guide is emitted from the end portion of the light guide. The oven cavity is provided to be illuminated homogeneously with the end portion of the light guide extending almost to the center of the ceiling.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the end of the light guide extending into the oven cavity is bent perpendicularly with respect to the ceiling. Thus, the oven cavity is illuminated more effectively.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the light guide is produced from glass. Thus, the resistance of the light guide to the high temperature generated in the oven cavity is increased.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the light guide is produced from fiber optic material.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the light source is disposed between the casing and the body after being placed in a box together with a heat sink. Thus, the light source is prevented from heating up, thus providing the light source with a longer lifespan.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the light guide is placed into a metal sheath such that its end extending into the oven cavity remains in the open. Thus, the light guide is provided to be protected from external factors.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the lights source is a LED. Thus, it is possible to illuminate the oven cavity with light in different colors.
By means of the present invention, the oven cavity is provided to be illuminated by a light source and a light guide connected to the light source without requiring to bore a hole on the casing.
An oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

The oven (1) comprises a body (2), an oven cavity (3) disposed inside the body (2), a casing (6) surrounding the oven cavity (3), having a ceiling (4) and a rear wall (5), at least one heater (7) providing the oven cavity (3) to be heated, disposed on the ceiling (4) so as to face the oven cavity (3), and a support (8) mounted on the ceiling (4) that supports the heater (7) secured thereon.
The oven (1) furthermore comprises a light source (9) disposed between the casing (6) and the body (2) and a light guide (10) mounted on the support (8), one end connected to the light source (9), the other end extending into the oven cavity (3). The light emitted by the light source (9) is provided to be directed into the oven cavity (3) by means of the light guide (10). The requirement of boring an opening on the casing (6) for placing the light source (9) is eliminated by means of disposing the light guide (10) on the support (8). Consequently, energy saving is maintained by providing the preservation of the heat of the oven cavity (3).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the light guide (10) is disposed on the ceiling (4) so as to face the oven cavity (3). The support (8) supports both the heaters (7) and the light guide (10). The heaters (7) and the light guide (10) extend from the support (8) towards the surface of the ceiling (4) so as to face the oven cavity (3). The light guide (10) is provided to be mounted on the ceiling (4) by means of the support (8).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the light guide (10) extends almost up to the center of the ceiling (4). The light directed into the oven cavity (3) by the light guide (10) is provided to be emitted into the oven cavity (3) from almost the center of the ceiling (4). Thus, a more homogeneous illumination is maintained inside the oven cavity (3).
