Abstract
Es wird ein Verfahren zur Kultivierung von photoautotrophen Mikroorganismen vorgeschlagen, umfassend: - Bereitstellen einer ein Photosynthesemedium und darin suspendierte photoautotrophe Mikroorganismen enthaltenden Photosyntheseschicht (2) in einem abgeschlossenen Aufnahmeraum mit einer gasdiffusionshemmenden Außenbegrenzung (1), wobei die Photosyntheseschicht (2) eine mittlere Dicke von nicht mehr als 10 mm aufweist; - Belichten der Photosyntheseschicht (2) ohne das Verwirbeln oder Durchleiten eines Gases im Photosynthesemedium unter Begrenzung des diffusiven Gasaustausches des Aufnahmeraumes mit der Umgebung, wobei die Versorgung der Mikroorganismen im Photosynthesemedium mit Hydrogencarbonationen durch das Speichern von Hydrogencarbonationen im Photosynthesemedium und/oder das Liefern eines Photosynthesesubstrats in Form von Kohlendioxid und/oder Hydrogencarbonat aus einem zellfreien Kohlenstoffvorratsmedium (4) außerhalb der Photosyntheseschicht aufrechterhalten wird; und - Ableiten eines bei der Photosynthese gebildeten Gases aus dem Aufnahmeraum. Weiterhin wird ein Photobioreaktor zur Kultivierung von photoautotrophen Mikroorganismen vorgeschlagen, der einen abgeschlossenen Aufnahmeraum mit einer Gasdiffusion-hemmenden Außenbegrenzung umfasst, wobei der Aufnahmeraum aufweist: - ein erstes Kompartiment zur Ausbildung einer Photosyntheseschicht (2), die eine mittlere Dicke von nicht mehr als 10 mm aufweist; - und mindestens ein zweites Kompartiment zur Aufnahme eines Kohlenstoffvorratsmediums (4), das vom ersten Kompartiment durch mindestens eine Membran getrennt ist, die durchlässig ist für mindestens ein Photosynthesesubstrat ausgewählt aus der Gruppe umfassend Kohlendioxid und Hydrogencarbonationen.
