Abstract
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Zuckeralkoholen durch heterogen-katalysierte Hydrierung einer Zuckerlösung mit molekularem Wasserstoff an einem Ru/SiO2,-Katalysator welcher als Träger einen Formkörper aus pyrogener Kieselsäure nutzt, die einen Gesamtgehalt an Verunreinigungen kleiner 100 ppm aufweist.
Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Zuckeralkoholen durch katalytische Hydrierung von Zuckern an einem Ru/Si02-Katalysator
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Zuckeralko- holen durch heterogen-katalysierte Hydrierung einer Zuckerlösung mit molekularem Wasserstoff an einem Ru/Si02-Katalysator .
Zuckeralkohole wie Sorbitol, Isomalt, Lactitol, Maltitol, Mannitol, d-Glucitol oder Xylitol werden für kosmetische Produkte, in der Ver- packungsindustrie oder in der Lebensmittelindustrie eingesetzt. Ihre Herstellung mittels heterogen katalysierter Hydrierung ist beispielsweise aus den folgenden Schriften bekannt:
DE102004058811A1 (Frauenhofer Inst.) beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyalkoholen, insbesondere Zuckeralkoholen, aus Mo- no-, Di-, Oligo- oder Polysaccariden in Gegenwart eines Katalysators mit mindestens einem katalytisch aktiven Metall in wässriger Phase. Die kontinuierliche Umsetzung erfolgt bei einer Temperatur über 100°C, einem Druck über 150 bar und einer Verweilzeit unter 600 s. Aus EP0949233B1 (BASF) ist ein Verfahren zur Hydrierung eines oder mehrerer Zucker zu deren Zuckeralkoholen an einem Katalysator bekannt. Der Katalysator besteht aus mindestens einem Metall der 8. Nebengruppe und umfasst ggf- ein Metall aus der 1, oder 7. Nebengruppe mit einem Anteil von 0,01 bis 30 Gew.%. Er befindet sich auf einem Träger mit 5 bis 50 % Makro- und 50 bis 95 % Mesoporen.
EP1399255B1 (BASF) beschreibt die katalytische Hydrierung von Sacca- riden an einem Katalysator enthaltend 0,2 bis 7 Gew.% Rutheni einem Träger aus amorphen Si02 mit weniger als 10% kristallinem Anteil, Der Katalysator wird erhalten durch ein™ oder mehrfache Imprägnierung des Trägers mit einer wässrigen Lösung von Rutheniumprecurso- ren mit weniger als 500 ppm Halogen, Trocknung des Feststoffs bei Temperaturen unter 200 °C und Reduktion zwischen 100 und 350 °C.
EP2030680A1 (BASF) beschreibt einen Rutheniumkatalysator, der erhalten wird durch ein- oder mehrfache Imprägnierung eines Trägers auf Basis von amorphem Si02 mit einer halogenfreien wässrigen Lösung ei-
ner Rutheniumverbindimg, Trocknung des Feststoffs bei Temperaturen unter 200 °C und Reduktion zwischen 100 und 350 °C.
Aus WO02088057A1 (Batteile Memorial Inst.) ist ein Verfahren zur Umsetzung von Zuckern zu Zuckeralkoholen durch katalytische Hydrierung in wässriger Phase bekannt, welches bei einer Katalysatorbelastung von mindestens 0,5 kg Zucker pro L Katalysator und Stunde, einer Temperatur unter 120 °C und einem WasserstoffÜberdruck zwischen 7 und 207 bar abläuft und welches einen Umsatz von mindestens 97% nach 300 h erzielt.
All diesen Verfahren ist gemein, dass sie Katalysatoren auf Basis von Siliziumoxid als Trägermaterial einsetzen, welches in den zur Lösung der Zucker und der Hydrierung in flüssiger Phase eingesetzten protischen Lösungsmitteln zur Hydrolyse und in Folge dessen zum Zerfall neigt.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung war es ein verbessertes Verfahren für die heterogen-katalysierte Hydrierung von Zuckern zu Zuckeralkoholen in einem protischen Lösungsmittel in flüssiger Phase zur Verfü- gung zu stellen.
Diese Aufgabe wird gelöst durch ein Verfahren das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass ein Katalysator bestehend aus einer katalytisch aktiven Rutheniumkomponente und einem Formkörper aus Si02, welcher als Träger für die katalytisch aktiven Rutheniumkomponente dient, eingesetzt wird, wobei der Formkörper aus pyrogener Kieselsäure besteht, die einen Gesamtgehalt an Verunreinigungen kleiner 100 ppm aufweist . Ein entsprechender Ruthenium-Katalysator auf einem binderfrei extru- dierten und hochreinen Siliziumoxid ist beispielsweise aus WO
2010/076126 AI bekannt, wobei der Katalysator in dieser Schrift zur Umsetzung gasförmiger Edukte (Kohlenmonoxid und Wasserstoff) herangezogen wird. Es ist unerwartet und überraschend, dass dieser Katalysa- tor anders als die üblicherweise verwendeten Katalysatoren in einer
protischen Umgebung eine höhere Stabilität aufweist, die letzlich zu einem verbesserten Verfahren für die heterogen-katalysierte Hydrierung von Zuckern zu Zuckeralkoholen in einem protischen Lösungsmittel führt .
Vorzugsweise weist der Formkörper aus pyrogener Kieselsäure einen Gesamtgehalt an Verunreinigungen kleiner 50 ppm auf.
Unter Verunreinigung sind vorzugsweise die Alkalimetalle, sowie die Elemente Ca, Ti, AI, Fe, Ni, Cr, S zu verstehen.
Vorzugsweise weist der Katalysator einen Rutheniumgehalt auf dem Träger von 0,1 bis 10 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt von 0,2 bis 5 Gew.-%, insbesondere bevorzugt von 0,5 bis 2 Gew.-% auf.
Vorzugsweise weist der Formkörper aus pyrogener Kieselsäure eine definierte Porenstruktur mit einer monomodalen Porenradienverteilung im Bereich zwischen 5 und 50 ran, bevorzugt zwischen 10 und 20 nm auf. Vorzugsweise besitzt er eine spezifische Oberfläche gemäß ΒΞΤ von größer 200 m2 g"1.
Unter einer monomodalen Porenradienverteilung ist dabei vorzugsweise zu verstehen, dass der Formkörper weniger als 1% am gesamten Porenvolumen Mikroporen aufweist und mehr als 75% am gesamten Porenvolumen bevorzugt mehr als 90% am gesamten Porenvolumen Mesoporen aufweist. Der Rest auf 100% am gesamten Porenvolumen wird durch Makroporen gebildet .
Unter Mikroporen sind Poren mit einem Durchmesser unter 2 nm zu ver- stehen, unter Mesoporen sind Poren mit einem Durchmesser von 2 bis 50 nm zu verstehen und unter Makroporen sind Poren mit einem Durchmesser von größer 50 nm zu verstehen.
Die Bestimmung des Porenvolumens erfolgt dabei mittels Quecksilberpo- rosimetrie.
Bei Versuchen im Rahmen der vorliegenden Erfindung, zeigte sich überraschend, dass Katalysatoren zur Umsetzung von Zuckern zu Zuckeralkoholen bei denen der Träger für die katalytisch aktiven Rutheniumkom- ponente aus hochreiner pyrogene Kieselsäure hergestellt wurde eine höhere Stabilität aufweisen als bekannte Katalysatoren.
Die Erfindung betrifft daher auch die Verwendung eines Katalysators bestehend aus einer katalytisch aktiven Rutheniumkomponente und einem Formkörper aus Si02l welcher als Träger für die katalytisch aktive
Rutheniumkomponente dient, wobei der Formkörper aus pyrogener Kieselsäure besteht, die einen Gesamtgehalt an Verunreinigungen kleiner 100 ppm aufweist, zur Herstellung eines Zuckeralkohols aus einem Zucker mittels heterogen-katalysierter Hydrierung in einem protischen Lö- sungsmittel in flüssiger Phase.
Der als Träger dienende Formkörper wird hergestellt aus hochreiner pyrogener Kieselsäure, also einer Kieselsäure mit einen Gesamtgehalt an Verunreinigungen kleiner 100 ppm, vorzugsweise kleiner 50 ppm. Diese wird beispielsweise durch Verbrennung eines bei der Herstellung von Reinstsilizium anfallenden Gemischs von Tri- und Tetrachlorsilan in einer Knallgasflamme gewonnen. Ihre Herstellung ist beispielsweise aus US2010025373 oder ÜS2006155052 bekannt. Die pyrogene Kieselsäure wird durch Vermahlung oder Koagulation in Wasser dispergiert und zu Grünkörpern extrudiert. Dabei ist es wichtig jegliche Art der Kontamination wie sie beispielsweise durch Zusätze wie Binder, Rheologieverbesserer oder Porenbildner entstehen zu vermeiden. Auf den Zusatz derartiger Hilfsmittel wird daher verzichtet. Ferner ist es wichtig auch Kontaminationen, die durch sonstigen Eintrag von Verunreinigun- gen wie Abrieb während des Vermahlens entstehen, zu vermeiden. Der so gewonnene Träger weist einen Gesamtgehalt an Verunreinigungen kleiner 100 ppm vorzugsweise kleiner 50 ppm, auf.
Diese können in jeder für Katalysatoren bekannten Form vorliegen, beispielsweise als Pellets, Ringe, Kugeln, Räder, Sessel oder Waben.
Besonders geeignet als Träger für den erfindungsgemäßen Katalysator sind zylindrische Extrudate wie Pellets oder Ringe.
Durch eine anschließende thermische Behandlung des Grünkörpers können Eigenschaften des Katalysatorträgers wie beispielsweise die Porenstruktur und die mechanische Stabilität gezielt eingestellt werden, ohne dass es dabei zu einer Erhöhung des Gesamtgehalts an Verunreinigungen kommt. Derartige Behandlungsschritte sind beispielsweise aus US2010025373 oder US2006155052 bekannt. Auf diese Schriften wird in- sofern Bezug genommen.
Besonders bevorzugt werden hochreine Si02-Formkörper hergestellt, die eine definierte Porenstruktur mit einer sehr engen monomodalen Poren- radienverteilung im Bereich zwischen 5 und 50 nm, bevorzugt zwischen 10 und 20 nm besitzen, und die weniger als 1 Vol,-% Mikroporen und einen Anteil der Mesoporen am gesamten Porenvolumen von über 75%, bevorzugt über 90% aufweisen, wobei der Rest auf 100 Vol.-% durch Mak- roporen gebildet wird, und die eine spezifische Oberfläche von größer 200 2 g"1 besitzen. Die Bestimmung der spez. Oberfläche erfolgt dabei mittels Stickstoff-Physisorption nach BET (Modell nach Brunauer, Em~ mett und Teller) .
Die Aufbringung des katalytisch aktiven Rutheniums erfolgt in Form von Rutheniumverbindungen, wobei es sich vorzugsweise um mindestens eine Verbindung ausgewählt aus der Gruppe Rutheniumchlorid, Rutheni- umnitrosylnitrat , Rutheniumacetat und Rutheniumacetylacetonat handelt .
Auf die genannten Si02 Formkörper wird die katalytisch aktive Ruthe- niumkomponente mittels der zur Herstellung eines Katalysators gängigen Verfahren, wie sie beispielsweise in den Schriften zum Stand der Technik beschrieben sind, aufgebracht. Derartige Verfahren sind beispielsweise die Imprägnierung, Auffällung, oder der Ligandentausch . In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform erfolgt die Herstellung des Ka- talysators durch Imprägnierung der Träger mit Lösungen von Verbindun-
gen des Rutheniums und eventueller weiteren Komponenten des Katalysators (z.B. Promotoren wie Kfi, Pt , Rh, Ir) .
Mögliche Lösungsmittel für die Imprägnierung sind Wasser sowie orga- nische Lösungsmittel wie beispielsweise Methanol, Ethanol, Propanol , Aceton, Diethylether, Tetrahydrofuran, Acetonitril und Dimethylforma- mid, wobei Wasser für die Aufbringung der Rutheniumkomponente besonders bevorzugt ist. Die Menge der Lösung ist üblicherweise größer o- der gleich dem Porenvolumen der zu imprägnierenden Trägerformkörpe .
Bei dem Zuckeralkohol handelt es sich vorzugsweise um Sorbit, Manni- tol und Isomalt. Besonders bevorzugt handelt es sich ura Sorbit.
Bei dem Zucker handelt es sich vorzugsweise um Glucose, Mannose, oder Palatinose. Besonders bevorzugt handelt es sich um Glucose.
Bei dem Lösungsmittel handelt es sich vorzugsweise um ein protisches polares Lösungsmittel, besonders bevorzugt handelt es sich um Wasser, Ethanol und Isopropanol. Insbesondere bevorzugt wird Wasser eingesetzt .
Der Anteil an Zucker im protischen Lösungsmittel beträgt vorzugsweise 0,1 bis 50 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt 10 bis 30 Gew. -% bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Lösung.
Der entsprechende Zucker wird in dem Lösungsmittel gelöst und die erhaltene Lösung mit molekularem Wasserstoff unter Druck gesättigt und bei erhöhter Temperatur mit dem genannten heterogenen Katalysator in Kontakt gebracht .
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren wird vorzugsweise bei einer Reaktions- tetnperatur von 0 bis 150°C, bevorzugt 20 bis 120°C, besonders bevor- zugt 50 bis 80 °C durchgeführt.
Der Reaktions- bzw. Wasserstoffdruck beträgt 2 bis 300, bevorzugt 50 bis 150 bar.
Die Reaktionszeit beträgt vorzugsweise 0,1 bis 50 h, besonders bevorzugt 1 bis 20 h.
Zur Durchführung des Verfahrens sind alle Arten von 3-Phasen- Reaktoren geeignet, in denen Fest-, Flüssig- und Gasphase miteinander in Kontakt gebracht werden können. Vorzugsweise wird das erfindungs- gemäße Verfahren in einem Slurry-Rührkessel , einem Festbett-Reaktor oder einem Trickle-Bed-Reaktor durchgeführt. Wie aus den folgenden Beispielen ersichtlich fanden sich nach einer heterogenen katalytischen Hydrierung von Zucker zu Zuckeralkohol unter erfindungsgemäßem Einsatz des beschriebenen Katalysators geringere Rutheniumgehalte in der Reaktionslösung als nach dem Einsatz herkömmlicher Katalysatoren. Ein Katalysator der von der katalytisch ak- tiven Rutheniumkomponente verliert, muss auch an Aktivität verlieren. Ein möglichst geringer Rutheniumverlust ist die Voraussetzung für einen stabilen Katalysator. Da keine weiteren Desaktivierungsmechanis - men für einen derartigen Katalysator bekannt sind steht der verminderte Verlust auch für einen Erhalt der Aktivität über längere Zeit. Dieser Befund belegt die höhere Stabilität der erfindungsgemäßen Katalysatoren im Vergleich zu bekannten Katalysatoren bei der katalytischen Hydrierung von Zucker zu Zuckeralkohol in einem protischen Lösungsmittel , Die folgenden Beispiele dienen der weiteren Erläuterung der Erfindung.
Beispiel 1 : Vergleich der Ausgangspulver für das Trägermaterial
Die Katalysatoren für die heterogen katalysierte Hydrierung von Zu- ckern wurden identisch präpariert. Es wurden dazu folgende Trägerformkörper verwendet:
Die erfindungsgemäß geeigneten Trägerformkörper aus hochreinem pyro- genem Si02 wurde hergestellt wie in wo 2008/071612 AI Beispiel 3 beschrieben.
Das zum Vergleich herangezogenen Trägerformkörper wurden in analoger Weise hergestellt, in dem eine Mischung bestehend aus 50,0 g gefällter Kieselsäure, erhältlich unter der Bezeichnung Perkasil® SM 614 bei der Fa. Grace Davison und 1,0 g Methylhydroxyethylcellulose er- hältlich unter der Bezeichnung Walocel bei der Fa Dow Chemical und 1,0 g mikrokristalline Cellulose erhältlich unter der Bezeichnung Microcel bei der Fa. Blanver Farmoquimica Ltda. A und 126,2 g destilliertem Wasser in einer Knetmaschine (Hermann Linden Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG) 30 min gemischt und anschließend durch eine Kol- benstrangpresse in Formkörper extrudiert wurde. Diese Formkörper wurden 4 Tage bei Raumtemperatur worunter im Sinne der vorliegenden Erfindung 23 °C zu verstehen sind, und 1 Tag bei 45 °C getrocknet und anschließend bei 600 °C gesintert (mit 1 K/min auf 100 °C, für 2 Stunden halten, mit 5 K/min auf 600 °C, für 6 h halten) .

Beispiel 2 Herstellung der Katalysatoren
Die Materialien aus Bsp. 1 wurden durch Mahlung und fraktionierte Siebung auf eine Korngrößenverteilung von 0,5 bis 1 mm eingestellt. Die so erhaltenen Granulate wurden mit einer dem Porenvolumen entsprechenden Menge einer wässrigen Lösung von Rutheniumnitrosylnitrat (etwa 1 Gew.-%) imprägniert, anschließend bei 80 °C unter Vakuum bis zu einer Restfeuchte von 5 Gew.-% getrocknet und für 7 Stunden bei 200 °C mittels 5 Mol-% Wasserstoff in Stickstoff reduziert. Die so erhaltenen Katalysatoren wiesen alle einen Rutheniumgehalt von 1 Gew . -% auf .
Die beiden Katalysatoren weisen somit die gleiche Zusammensetzung auf (1 Gew.-% Ru, 99 Gew.-% Si02) und wurden identisch präpariert, allerdings auf zwei unterschiedlichen Trägermaterialien.
Beispiel 3 Umsetzung von Zucker zu Zuckeralkohol
Die Katalysatoren aus Beispiel 2 wurden zur Hydrierung einer wässrigen Lösung von 30 Gew.~% Glucose bei 70 °C und einem Wasserstoffüberdruck von 150 bar in einem Autoklaven mit Zwangsdurchströmung der Katalysators (Typ Robinson- ahoney Reaktor) über 24 Stunden eingesetzt. Nach der Reaktionszeit wurde der Autoklav entspannt und die verble - bende Lösung mittels Elementaranalyse durch optische Emissions- spektrometrie mit induktiv gekoppeltem Plasma (ICP-OES) auf Ruthenium untersucht .
Tab.3 zeigt den Gehalt an Ruthenium in der Lösung.
Wie den Ergebnissen in Tab. 3 ersichtlich weist der erfindungsgemäß eingesetzte Katalysator auf Basis reiner pyrogener Si02 einen signifikant geringeren Rutheniumverlust in Form von Leaching oder Abrieb auf, als die Katalysatoren auf dem mitvermessenen Vergleichsmaterial auf Basis gefällter Kieselsäure.
Claims
Verfahren zur heterogen-katalysierten Hydrierung von Zuckern zu Zuckeralkoholen in einem protischen Lösungsmittel in flüssiger Phase dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein Katalysator bestehend aus einer katalytisch aktiven Rutheniumkomponente und einem Formkörper aus Si02, welcher als Träger für die katalytisch aktive Rutheniumkomponente dient, eingesetzt wird, wobei der Formkörper aus pyrogener Kieselsäure besteht, die einen Gesamtgehalt an Verunreinigungen kleiner 100 ppra aufweist.
Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Katalysator einen Rutheniumgehalt auf dem Träger von 0,1 bis 10 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt von 0,2 bis 5 Gew.-%, insbesondere bevorzugt von 0,5 bis 2 Gew.-% aufweist.
Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Formkörper aus pyrogener Kieselsäure eine definierte Porenstruktur mit einer monomodalen Porenradienverteilung im Bereich zwischen 5 und 50 nm, bevorzugt zwischen 10 und 20 nm aufweist.
Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 1, 2 oder 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Katalysator eine spezifische Oberfläche gemäß BET von größer 200 m2 g"1 besitzt.
Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Zucker in dem protischen Lösungsmittel gelöst wird und die erhaltene Lösung mit molekularem Wasserstoff unter Druck gesättigt wird und bei einer erhöhten Temperatur mit dem heterogenen Katalysator in Kontakt gebracht wird.
Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Anteil an Zucker der erhaltenen Lösung 0,1 bis 50 Gew.-%, besonders bevorzugt 10 bis 30 Gew.-% beträgt.
7. Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es bei einer Reaktionstemperatur von 0 bis 150°C, bevorzugt 20 bis 120°C, besonders bevorzugt 50 bis 80°C durchgeführt wird.
8. Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es bei einem Reaktions- bzw. Wasserstoffdruck 2 bis 300, bevorzugt 50 bis 150 bar durchgeführt wird.
9. Verfahren gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es mit einer Reaktionsdauer von 0,1 bis 50 h, bevorzugt 1 bis 20 h durchgeführt wird.
10. Verwendung eines Katalysators bestehend aus einer kataly- tisch aktiven Rutheniumkomponente und einem Pormkorper aus SiO welcher als Träger für die katalytisch aktive Rutheniumkomponente dient, wobei der Formkörper aus pyrogener Kieselsäure be steht, die einen Gesamtgehalt an Verunreinigungen kleiner 100 ppm aufweist, zur Herstellung eines Zuckeralkohols aus einem Zucker mittels heterogen-katalysierter Hydrierung in einem pro tischen Lösungsmittel in flüssiger Phase.
