Definitions

  • the present invention relates to devices for packaging and applying a cosmetic composition and more particularly, but not exclusively, devices for packaging and applying a composition intended to be applied to the eyelashes and/or eyebrows.
  • the devices conventionally used comprise, on the one hand, a container comprising a neck provided with a wiping member and, on the other hand, an applicator comprising a stem provided at one end with a brush and at the other end with a gripping member that also constitutes a container closure member.
  • the various components of such devices are made from different materials. These devices are difficult to recycle in practice, since their components are made from materials that cannot be recycled together. In particular, materials that are not compatible for recycling because they originate from different molecular chains are often used, and also non-recyclable elastomers. Metal may also be used, especially for the application member, since most mascara applicators comprise a brush constituted of a twisted metal core which tightly encircles bristles.
  • Application members have been developed in recent years that comprise application elements made by moulding one or more thermoplastics.
  • the absence of a metal core makes it possible to produce the device entirely from plastics, which may render it recyclable provided that the components are sorted in order to group together those that are compatible for being recycled together.

  • Publication WO 2009/153761 describes a device comprising a wiping member and a container produced as a single piece from the same material.
