- the laser processing apparatus 100 is roughly configured by a laser apparatus 101, an optical fiber 122, and an irradiation optical system (collimator lens 105 and condenser lens 106).
- the laser light 104 generated by the laser device 101, guided and transmitted by the optical fiber 122, and exits the output end 103 passes through the collimator lens 105 and the condenser lens 106, and reaches the irradiation point ⁇ of the workpiece 107. It reaches.
- FIG. 14 shows a conventional example of the laser device 101.
- the laser device 101 includes an active fiber 120 that is a double-clad fiber in which a rare earth element is added to a core base material, and a fiber Bragg grating (near both ends of the active fiber 120) that functions as a mirror of a laser resonator. (Hereinafter abbreviated as FBG) 121, a multi-coupler 123, a plurality of semiconductor laser light sources 126, and an optical fiber 122 connected to the active fiber 120 via a connection point 129.
- a double clad fiber is an optical fiber having a double clad around a core. Conventionally, this double clad fiber is a laser medium by adding a rare earth element or the like to a core base material.
- the inner cladding has two kinds of actions: an action of confining light in the core and an action of confining excitation light for exciting the laser medium in the core.
- the outer cladding has a function of confining excitation light.
- Excitation light emitted from a plurality of semiconductor laser light sources 126 is incident on the inner cladding of the active fiber 120 via the optical fiber 125 and the multicoupler 123.

- the optical loss during transmission increases due to nonlinear effects due to stimulated Brillouin scattering or Raman scattering in the optical fiber core. Therefore, the distance that can be transmitted by the fiber is limited to about several meters. Therefore, a multimode fiber laser that can take a large fiber transmission distance is usually used for the laser processing apparatus.
- the spatial distribution of the power density of the laser light at the irradiation point ⁇ is the same as the spatial distribution of the power density at the exit of the optical fiber 122 (the output end 103 of the laser device 101) in the irradiation optical system including the collimator lens 105 and the condenser lens 106. It has a shape that has been imaged.
- the top hat has a substantially uniform power density spatial distribution at the irradiation point ⁇ as shown in FIG. It becomes a shape.

That is, after the workpiece is preheated by the second laser beam, the workpiece is processed by the laser beam having sufficient energy for processing. At this time, energy absorption of the laser beam occurs in the preheated portion.

- FIG. 5 is a diagram showing the spatial distribution of the power density of the laser beam 4 (4a, 4b) (obtained by the laser apparatus 1A of the present embodiment) at the irradiation point ⁇ , where X is the laser beam 4 at the irradiation point ⁇ .
- the distance from the center O, I indicates the magnitude of the power density of the laser beam 4.
- the irradiation point ⁇ is irradiated with the fiber laser light 4 a emitted from the laser resonator (active fiber 20) and the semiconductor laser light 4 b emitted from the semiconductor laser light source 28. Therefore, as shown in FIG.
- the spatial distribution of the power density of these laser beams 4 also includes the first region 41 (condensing spot diameter D1) derived from the fiber laser beam 4a and the first region derived from the semiconductor laser beam 4b. There are two regions 42 (condensing spot diameter D2).
- the spatial distribution of the power density at the irradiation point ⁇ has a substantially uniform top hat shape.
- the power density I b of the power density I a and the semiconductor laser beam 4b of the fiber laser beam 4a is preferably from I a> I b, more that a I a / 10 ⁇ I b preferable.
- the power density I a of the fiber laser light 4a at the irradiation point ⁇ is such that the spatial distribution of the laser light is uniform, that is, a top hat shape, and therefore the output P a (W) of the fiber laser light 4a is It is obtained by dividing by the spot area S a (mm 2 ). That is, the power density I a of the fiber laser beam 4a is determined by the following equation (2).
- the power density I b of the semiconductor laser beam 4b at the irradiation point ⁇ is obtained by dividing the output P b (W) of the semiconductor laser beam 4b by the spot area S b (mm 2 ). That is, the power density I b of the semiconductor laser beam 4b is determined by the following equation (3).
- the condensing spot diameter D1 of the fiber laser light 4a and the condensing spot diameter D2 of the semiconductor laser light 4b at the irradiation point ⁇ are expressed by the following equations (4) and (5), respectively.
- d1 (mm) is the core diameter of the passive fiber 22 that transmits the fiber laser light 4a
- d2 (mm) is the inner cladding diameter of the passive fiber 22 that transmits the semiconductor laser light 4b.
- fa is the focal length (mm) of the collimator lens 5
- fb is the focal length (mm) of the condenser lens 6.
- the fiber laser beam 4a propagates only through the core 22a of the passive fiber 22. Therefore, the diameter of the fiber laser beam 4a at the exit of the passive fiber 22 is given by the core diameter d1 of the passive fiber 22.
- the semiconductor laser beam 4 b spreads and propagates to the inner cladding 22 b in addition to the core 22 a of the passive fiber 22. Therefore, the diameter of the semiconductor laser light 4b at the exit of the passive fiber 22 is given by the diameter d2 of the inner cladding 22b of the passive fiber 22.
- the focused spot diameters of these laser beams 4a and 4b are D1 ⁇ D2 (the semiconductor laser beam 4b is larger).
- the laser light 4 emitted from the laser device 1A satisfies I a > I b and D1 ⁇ D2, superposition of the main fiber laser light 4a and the semiconductor laser light 4b as shown in FIG.
- the base of the semiconductor laser beam 4b is added around the component. Therefore, when the workpiece 9 is processed while moving the laser beam 4, the processing site is irradiated with the semiconductor laser beam 4b prior to the superimposed component of the fiber laser beam 4a and the semiconductor laser 4b beam. Therefore, after the processing site is sufficiently preheated by the semiconductor laser light 4b, the processing is performed by the superimposed component of the fiber laser 4a and the semiconductor laser 4b.
- the two laser beams 4a and 4b are emitted from different light sources. Therefore, the power densities Ia and Ib of the laser beams 4a and 4b can be adjusted independently. Further, by changing the outer diameters of the cores 20a and 22a of the active fiber 20 and the passive fiber 22 and the outer diameters of the inner claddings 20b and 22b, the condensing spot diameters D1 and D2 of the respective laser beams 4a and 4b can be adjusted. . Therefore, in this embodiment, the two laser beams 4a and 4b can be easily optimized into a shape suitable for each processing.
- the center wavelength ⁇ 1 of the fiber laser light 4a and the center wavelength ⁇ 2 of the semiconductor laser light 4b are different. That is, ⁇ 2 / ⁇ 1 is preferably about 0.6 to 0.97. Thereby, the chromatic aberration of the fiber laser beam 4a and the semiconductor laser beam 4b at the irradiation point ⁇ can be suppressed. As a result, the workpiece 9 can be processed with a stable power density.
- FIG. 6 is a diagram for schematically explaining the mechanism of laser cutting, and shows a cross section in a plane composed of laser light and a cutting line. In addition, the case where only 1 wavelength laser beam 71 is irradiated is shown.
- the laser cutting is roughly divided into a heating and melting process of the cutting front 72 by the laser beam 71 and a removing process of the molten layer 73 by the assist gas flow 74.
- FIG. 6 shows a state of a certain temporary point during cutting, and the cutting process proceeds to the left side of FIG.
- the cutting using the conventional laser apparatus has a problem that the roughness of the cut surface is deteriorated as compared with the case where the CO 2 laser is used. This problem is particularly noticeable when the workpiece 70 is thick or when cutting at low speed.
- FIG. 7 is a diagram schematically showing how the roughness of the cut surface is deteriorated when a conventional laser device is used and V ⁇ V 0 .
- V ⁇ V 0 in the low speed region (V ⁇ V 0 ), the melting phenomenon becomes discontinuous near the surface 79a of the workpiece 79, and the absorption power density of the laser light is locally high on the kerf front. Region P (convex portion 76) appears. Thereby, the surface roughness is deteriorated.
- FIG. 7 also shows the relationship between the position of the laser beam and the position where the surface temperature T of the workpiece 79 reaches Tm.
- a spatial distribution 77 (Gaussian shape) of the power density of the CO 2 laser light and a spatial distribution 78 (top hat shape) of the power density of the fiber laser light are simultaneously shown for convenience.
- the value of I 0 is smaller for the CO 2 laser beam having a Gaussian-shaped spatial distribution than for the fiber laser beam having a top-hat-shaped spatial distribution. Therefore, when the conventional laser device is used, I 0 described in the above formula (6) becomes large, and the range of the speed at which the degradation of the cutting surface roughness is wider than when the CO 2 laser is used. Become.
- the laser machining apparatus 10 of the present embodiment When using the laser machining apparatus 10 of the present embodiment as cutting apparatus, when the moves of the cut portion, a semiconductor laser beam 4b with power density I b is irradiated on the workpiece at the beginning. Therefore, the workpiece in front of the cut portion can be preheated. At this time, energy absorption of the fiber laser beam 4b occurs in the preheated portion, but in this embodiment, since I a > I b , this energy absorption does not occur excessively, and the CO 2 laser is used. As in the case of the conventional laser device, the value of I 0 can be made smaller than that of the conventional laser device. Therefore, the workpiece can be cut at a wider speed while suppressing the deterioration of the cut surface roughness.
- the preheating effect of the cutting line forward portion is further enhanced, the formation of the convex portion 76 that occurs when the cutting mentioned above is further suppressed
- the cut section can be made smoother. That is, the power density I b of the semiconductor laser beam 4b is preferred to satisfy the equation (7) below. As a result, even when the processing speed is low or the workpiece 9 is thick, the workpiece 9 can be cut while suppressing the deterioration of the cutting surface roughness.
- I b is the following formula satisfies (7), for example, the case of using SUS304 as the workpiece 9, the 4 ⁇ 12 mm thickness of the workpiece 9, the cutting speed 0.5-3 meters per minute (mpm)
- cutting with the laser beam 4 with a cutting surface roughness of about 30 ⁇ m or less is possible.
- I b ⁇ (D2-D1) / 2 is the area of the shaded portion 42a in FIG. 5 (one of the second regions 42 outside the first region in the spatial distribution of the power density of the semiconductor laser light 4b). Of the power density of the region 42a).
- A is the absorptivity of the semiconductor laser beam 4b with respect to the workpiece 9
- ⁇ is the thermal diffusion coefficient of the workpiece 9
- ⁇ is the density of the workpiece 9
- C p is the specific heat of the workpiece 9
- T m is the workpiece.
- the melting point of the material 9 indicates the initial temperature (normal temperature) of the workpiece 9
- Lm indicates the latent heat of fusion of the workpiece 9.
- the cutting of the workpiece 9 has been described. However, the same can be said for the case where the workpiece 9 is subjected to groove grinding.
- the laser apparatus 1A and the fiber processing apparatus 10 according to the present embodiment groove grooving can be performed at a wider range of speed, and the roughness of the formed groove is improved.
- the laser device 1A and the laser processing device 10 of the present embodiment can be applied to welding and overlaying. In welding and overlay processing using a conventional laser device, there is a case where the amount of scattered material on the workpiece increases compared to processing using a CO 2 laser, and the same processing cannot be performed with a desired quality. In particular, this phenomenon becomes significant when the processing speed is low.
- FIG. 8 schematically shows a modification of the laser device of the present invention.
- the laser device 1B (1) is different from the laser device 1A (1) described above in that the first laser light 52 emitted from the first laser oscillator 51 is condensed by the lens 53 and is incident on the incident end. It is a point which injects into the passive fiber 22 from 54.
- FIG. 1C (1) there is a laser device 1C (1) shown in FIG.
- the laser device 1C (1) is different from the laser device 1A (1) described above in that the first laser light 52 emitted from the first laser oscillator 51 is condensed by the lens 53 and is incident on the incident end. The light is incident on a normal optical fiber 55 whose clad is a single layer from 54, and the passive fiber 22 is connected to the downstream side of the optical fiber 55. With these configurations, the first laser light incident on the passive fiber 22 propagates through the core 22 a of the fiber 22. Semiconductor laser light emitted from a second semiconductor laser light source 28 serving as a second laser oscillator is incident on the inner cladding 22 b of the passive fiber 22 via the optical fiber 27 and the second multicoupler 24. .
- the first laser beam and the semiconductor laser beam are coupled to the passive fiber 22 to be coaxial.
- semiconductor laser beam is made smaller than the power density I a of the first laser beam emitted from the first laser oscillator, it is possible to obtain the same effect as described above .
- a disk laser can be used as the first laser oscillator.
- Example 1 As Example 1 of the present invention, the laser apparatus 1A shown in FIG. 2 was assembled, and the laser processing apparatus 10 shown in FIG.
- the wavelength of the signal light was 1085 nm, and the wavelengths of the excitation light and the semiconductor laser light were 976 nm.
- As the active fiber a double clad fiber having a core diameter of 0.2 mm, an inner clad diameter of 0.8 mm, and a core doped with Yb was used.
- the passive fiber a double clad fiber having a core diameter of 0.2 mm, an inner clad diameter of 0.8 mm, and no rare earth element added to the core was used.
- the relative refractive index difference between the core and the inner cladding was 0.002.
- the maximum output obtained from the output terminal of the laser apparatus 1A was 4 kW for the fiber laser light having a wavelength of 1085 nm and 2 kW for the semiconductor laser light having a wavelength of 976 nm.
- the output of the fiber laser light was fixed at 4 kW, and the output of the semiconductor laser light was appropriately changed.
- Example 1 The semiconductor laser beam output in Example 1 with zero output was taken as a comparative example (corresponding to a conventional example).
- SUS304 was cut with the laser processing apparatuses of Example 1 and Comparative Example. At this time, the thickness of SUS304 was constant at 10 mm, and the cutting speed was constant at 1 (mpm). For the cut surface roughness, the roughness in the cutting line direction at a depth of 1 mm from the material surface was measured. Regarding Example 1, SUS304 was cut while changing the output (P2) of the semiconductor laser beam, and the cut surface roughness (Rz) was examined. The results are shown in Table 1 and FIG. Note that P2 is the output (W) of the semiconductor laser light, I b is the power density (W / m 2 ) of the semiconductor laser light, and Rz is the average of the measured cut surface roughness ( ⁇ m).
- the cut surface roughness Rz was 53.6 ⁇ m, while in Example 1, the cut surface roughness Rz was lower than that in the comparative example. Particularly, as the output (P2) of the semiconductor laser light was increased, the cut surface roughness Rz was decreased.
- P2 is 50 W or more, that is, when the left side I b ⁇ (D2-D1) / 2 of the above formula (7) is 3.0 ⁇ 10 4 (W / m) or more, a great effect is exhibited in smoothing the cut surface. I understand that.
- the cutting surface roughness Rz deteriorated as the plate thickness increased, that is, the cutting speed decreased.
- the value of the cut surface roughness Rz was small and deterioration was suppressed.
- the plate thickness is thicker and the cutting speed is slower, the deterioration of the cut surface roughness Rz is more effectively suppressed.
- Example 3 Using the same laser processing apparatus 10 as in Example 1 and Comparative Example described above, lap welding of 2 mm thick steel was performed. At this time, the welding speed was changed as shown in Table 3. The length to be welded is 100 mm. The mass of the steel before and after welding was measured to determine the amount of mass reduction. The results are shown in Table 3 and FIG. In Example 3, the value of P2 when the amount of mass reduction becomes the minimum is obtained, and the value of P2 and the mass reduction value at that time are described. In addition, the value of each P2 in Example 3 satisfy
- the method of the third embodiment is also effective for suppressing adhesion of welding spatter and suppressing bead dents.
- the introduction of the laser device and the laser processing device of the present invention has extremely useful industrial effects such as an increase in productivity and a reduction in running cost as compared with a CO 2 laser processing device.

Abstract
