Lock for a motor vehicle door comprising a housing (2) and a counterplate (3) defining a retention compartment (4) for receiving a rotary bolt (5) intended to cooperate with a striker (21), said bolt rotary device (5) having a cylindrical through opening (12) cooperating with a corresponding guide surface (13) of the housing (2) for pivoting about an axis of rotation (I) between an open position and a closed position of the lock (1) in which it cooperates with the striker (21), characterized in that said lock comprises a rotary bolt (5) according to one of claims 1 to 10.
