Definitions
- the invention relates to a filter according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such filters are known in practice. They are used, for example, as a fuel filter in the fuel system of a diesel internal combustion engine.
- Housing or the lid are provided, cause comparatively high resistance forces when these two filter cartridges are to be removed from the filter. Since the filter cartridges are contaminated with fuel and the contaminants retained by the filter during maintenance, it is undesirable to grasp the filter cartridges by hand and pull them out of the filter housing.
- the object of the invention is to improve a generic filter in such a way that, when unscrewing the lid, it also makes it possible to automatically remove the two filter cartridges from the housing as well.
- the invention proposes to take the lid captive with one of the two filter cartridges, in other words to be connected such that during a movement of the lid the relevant filter insert is taken.
- this connection is firstly provided with respect to a rotational movement of the cover, so that upon release of the cover this filter insert is driven in the direction of rotation, and secondly with respect to an axial movement of the cover: if by the thread during the rotary movement of the cover an axial movement of the cover is effected, the filter insert connected to the lid is also taken in the axial direction of the lid and moved accordingly axially.
- the filter element close to the housing can, for example, have off-center connections, with which it communicates with the inlet opening and / or the outlet opening of the housing, these eccentric connections preventing a rotational mobility of this housing-near filter insert. Due to the fact that the prefilter is connected to the main filter in a tensile strength in the axial direction, during the axial movement of the filter insert close to the cover, the filter insert close to the housing, even if it does not rotate, is entrained in the axial direction.
- connection between the lid and the lid-near filter insert does not exist permanently, but can only be created if necessary.
- the connection between the lid and the lid-near filter insert is created by means of two encompassing contours, one of these contours on the lid and the other contour on the filter insert itself is provided.
- One of these two contours serves as a stop, while the other contour abuts this stop both in the axial direction and in the direction of rotation, so that in this way both the rotational movement and the axial movement, which carries out the lid when unscrewing from the housing on this lid-close filter cartridge can be transferred.
- the transmission of the required forces can advantageously be distributed over the largest possible area and thus to the lowest possible surface loading, so that the two interacting contours between the cover and the filter element close to the lid are not made as large as possible. but, in order to be able to design the filter with as small structural dimensions as possible, at least two similar ones of these contours are circumferentially distributed on the cover and on the filter insert, these at least two contours being circumferentially spaced from one another.
- the distances between these two contours are dimensioned so large that the complementary other contour between these two contours is axially movable, so that in this way the lid near filter cartridge and the lid can be placed on the other hand in an angular position to each other, in which the complementary in itself Contours of these two components are not in engagement with each other, so that in this angular position of the filter cartridge can be removed from the lid.
- the housing near the filter insert is advantageously rotationally fixed, but arranged axially movable in the housing, so that it allows, for example eccentrically extending flow lines for the fluid to be filtered in this arrangement, since a rotational movement between this housing near filter cartridge and the housing must not be possible. In this way, the structural design of the entire filter is considerably simplified.
- the aforementioned guide surfaces can be used advantageously as an im
- Housing rib be configured, which extends in the axial direction and as a helical, provided on the filter insert inclined surface.
- the proposed filter can be designed as a fuel filter, this filter can be arranged in particular hanging, so with a lid to be opened down, so that the lid with its end face on the one hand and the circumferential thread on the other hand forms a shell-like container.
- the container volume may in particular be increased by the fact that the threaded surface is spaced from the end face of the lid and between these two surfaces may be provided a circumferential approximately cylindrical wall surface.
- the lid can serve as a container, which has, for example, a water collection chamber, so that water precipitated from the fuel can be collected in this water collection chamber and thus the filter downstream of the internal combustion engine is reliably protected against corrosion or other damage caused by the water ,
- the proposed embodiment of the filter is particularly advantageous because the two interacting contours on the lid and the lid near the filter insert can be realized in almost any distance from the lid end face, so that the lid close Filter insert in correspondingly almost any distance from the lid end face can end.
- the mentioned Wasserammeiraum is created between the corresponding front end of the filter cartridge and the frontal lid surface, in which the lid near filter insert is not immersed, so that this lid near filter cartridge is not impaired in its effectiveness as a fuel filter, characterized in that part of its filter surface does not Fuel, but is exposed to the separated water.
- the rotational mobility between the two filter cartridges can be advantageously created by a clip connection, so that these two filter cartridges are made independently and can then be easily and without tools connected by the clip connection with little installation effort.
- the rotational mobility is ensured by the fact that at least two clips are provided which are arranged around the central axis of the two filter cartridges around.
- the holding surface encompassed by the clips extends concentrically around the central axis along a circular path, so that the free rotation of the two filter inserts is thereby ensured against each other.
- the clips effect the tension-resistant connection of both filter cartridges in the axial direction.
- the clip connection may preferably be tensile strength such that at Ü overcome a certain tensile force, the clip connection is released, not by demolishing one or more clips, but rather non-destructive by appropriate resilience of the clips that can be deducted in overcoming this predetermined tensile force from the associated holding surface, so that a defined disposal of the filter cartridges done can and no fragments of the clip connection arise, which may not be disposed of in an orderly manner.
- 1 denotes a fuel filter as a whole, which has a metallic housing 2 and a plastic lid 3, which is designed as a screw cap and can be unscrewed downwards from the housing 2, so that the entire fuel filter 1 as a so-called hanging fuel filter is configured.
- the upper filter insert 4 is referred to as housing close, because it has contact with the housing 2 by being inserted into corresponding receiving socket 6 of the housing 2.
- This upper filter insert 4 serves as a pre-filter. He has a closed housing, the inlet and outlet ports are designed as connecting pieces, which are inserted into the two receiving socket 6 of the housing 2.
- the lower filter insert 5 is referred to as Deckelelnah because he has contact with the lid 3 by applying a sealing lip 23 to the lid 3.
- the filter material of the lower filter insert 5 is configured, for example, as a paper-based folding filter surface 9, which flows radially from outside to inside and thus forms the inlet of this lower filter insert 5, while the outlet of the purified fuel passes through a tubular, centrally arranged channel 1 1 of the housing 2 takes place.
- the pleated filter surface 9 of the lower filter insert 5 ends at a distance above the lower end face of the lid third
- Fig. 2 shows a view in the axial direction cut cover 3.
- the contour 12 is as inwardly projecting, a total of approximately hook-shaped projection on the inner surface of the lid 3 and in particular forms an upright web 15 and a lying arm sixteenth
- the complementary thereto, provided on the lower filter insert 5 contour 14 is as outwardly projecting trapezoidal Block four configured with two upright, lateral stop edges 22 and an upper, lying driving edge 17.
- Each four of the contours 12 and 14 are provided circumferentially on the inner surface of the lid 3 and on the outer surface of the lower filter cartridge 5.
- Fig. 4 shows the two filter cartridges 4 and 5, wherein the upper filter cartridge 4 serves as a pre-filter and the lower, larger filter cartridge 5 as the main filter. While the contours 14 are integrally formed on a lower end plate 18 of the lower filter insert 5, a plurality of clips 20 are formed on an upper end plate 19 of the lower filter insert 5, which surround a designed as a circumferential rib holding surface 21 of the upper filter element 4. By means of the clips 20, the two filter elements 4 and 5 are mutually rotatable about their common central axis, on the other hand, however, in the axial direction tensile strength connected to each other.
- Fig. 5 shows the lower portion of the lower filter housing 5 with the contours 14, and it shows the cover-side contours 12, cut free from the lid, so that the lid itself is deliberately not shown in Fig. 5 for reasons of clarity.
- the two contours 12 and 14 are not engaged with each other, but is the cover-side contour 12 with its upright ridge 15 of the longer of the two stop edges 22 of the contour 14, as is the case for example after the lid 3 the housing 2 was screwed.
- the lid 3 - and thus the contour 12 - moves in a direction that runs in Figs. 5 and 6 from right to left, so that accordingly after about a quarter turn, for example, after about 80 °, the cover-side contour 12 has been moved to the left until it rests there with its upright web 15 of the shorter stop edge 22 of the local contour 14 and with her lying arm 16, the contour 14 overlaps, although there is a vertical or axial distance between this lying arm 16 and the contour 14.
- Fig. 7 shows the situation after the lid 3 has been further unscrewed from the housing 2: Since the contours 12 and 14 transmitted via the upright web 15 and the shorter stop edge 22, the rotational movement of the lid 3 on the lower filter element 5, the lower Filter insert 5 is rotated about its longitudinal axis when the lid 3 is unscrewed. Due to the thread effect, the cover 3 is lowered downwards relative to the filter housing 2. This results in that, as shown in FIG. 7, the lying arm 16 against the upper driving edge 17 of the contour 14 and during the further rotation of the lid 3, the lower filter element 5 is not only rotated, but also moves axially relative to the housing 2 down.
- the upper filter element 4 remains rotatably during this described movement, thus still extends with its two connecting pieces in the receiving socket 6 of the housing 2, but participates in the axial lowering movement, so that it gradually out the two receiving socket 6 is pulled out.
- the lower end disk 18 of the lower filter insert 5 forms a sealing lip 23 which projects circumferentially outwards and sealingly abuts a sealing seat 24 interacting with it, when the entire fuel filter 1 is in operation located.
- the above-mentioned rotational movement of about 80 ° takes place, during which the lower filter insert 5 is not yet taken from the cover 3. While this is about
- Fig. 9 shows the region of the housing 2 after almost complete disassembly of the lid 3, at any rate at a time when the thread of the lid 3 has been brought out of engagement with the complementary thread of the housing 2.
- the respective seals have been disengaged from the housing-side components: on the one hand, the seal of the lower filter cartridge 5, which is deducted from the central channel 1 1, and on the other hand, the two seals on the connecting piece of the upper filter cartridge 4, which have been pulled out of the respective receiving socket 6 of the housing 2.
- the cover thread 3 is out of engagement with the housing-side thread, the cover 3 can be removed together with the two filter cartridges 4 and 5 from the housing 2, without causing forces are applied to each other at the sealing points 10, the mutually sealed components of the fuel filter 1 to solve.
- Fig. 10 shows the lid 3, after it has been detached from the housing 2, in reverse arrangement, ie with upwardly facing end face of the lid 3. Accordingly, the two filter inserts 4 and 5 protrude downwards and are still through the clips 20th connected with each other.
- Fig. 1 1 shows this situation of Fig. 10 in a representation which is similar to Figs. 5 and 6, but with accordingly reversely oriented components: Due to the oblique course of the driving edge 17 on the contours 14 and the associated inclined surface on the lying arm 16 of the contour 12 slips in the arrangement of the lid 3 shown in Fig. 1 1, the combination of the two filter cartridges 4 and 5 automatically down, since the contours 12 and 14 slide off each other. In addition, this separation or solution movement can be supported by a short rotational movement or a dangling of the lid 3, so that in any case the filter cartridges 4 and 5 fall out of the lid 3, without that they would have to be handled by hand. Fig.
- FIG. 12 shows the lid 3 in its usual arrangement with downwardly facing end face and upwardly pointing thread.
- the lid 3 is separated from the filter cartridges 4 and 5, so that now a new package of filter cartridges 4 and 5 can be inserted into the lid 3, as indicated by the arrow shown in Fig. 12.
- FIG. 13 shows that the filter insert 5 is inserted into the cover 3 until the sealing lip 23 abuts the sealing seat 24, wherein FIG. 13 shows that the sealing lip 23 in the exemplary embodiment shown there is provided with an elastomeric seal
- Sealing material is provided to ensure a particularly reliable seal.
- Fig. 14 shows a perspective view obliquely from above on the upper filter cartridge 4 with its two connecting pieces and the seals provided there of the two uppermost sealing points 10.
- a central opening of the upper filter insert 4 two obliquely downwardly extending guide surfaces 25 can be seen.
- Fig. 15 shows a perspective view from below into the housing 2 with the central channel 1 1 and a receiving spigot 6 arranged adjacent thereto.
- An upwardly extending rib 26 is integrally formed on the central channel 11 and has two V-shaped mutually at its lower front end standing guide surfaces
- the upper filter cartridge 4 Since the two guide surfaces 25 extend from an apex at which they adjoin each other obliquely downward downwards, the upper filter cartridge 4 is automatically rotated about its central axis during the further, gradual upward movement, which it executes upon further tightening the lid 3 placed in a predetermined angular position, in which the two connecting pieces are aligned axially aligned with the two receiving socket 6 of the housing, so that when further tightening the cover 3, the upper filter element 4 is guided with its two connecting pieces in this receiving socket 6 of the housing 2.
