Description
この発明は、2次元画像にグラデーションを描画するグラデーション描画装置に関する。
従来の2次元描画装置においてグラデーションを高速に描画するために、2次元描画用のハードウェアの他にグラデーション描画専用のハードウェアを備えるか、又は2次元描画用のハードウェアがα合成処理を行う必要がある。例えばカーナビゲーション装置で利用されるCPU(Central Processing Unit)は、2次元描画専用のハードウェアと、3次元地図描画用のハードウェアとを搭載しているが、グラデーション描画を行うためには、これらとは別にグラデーション描画専用のハードウェアが必要となる。しかしながら、現状ではグラデーション描画専用のハードウェアを搭載しているカーナビゲーション装置は少なく、その場合には前述の通り2次元描画専用のハードウェアがα合成処理を行う必要がある。
α合成処理によるグラデーション描画の方法として、例えば特許文献1にレンズフレア効果を表現する方法が提案されている。この特許文献1に係る方法では、αチャンネル用に同心円状のαマスク画像を予め用意しておき、このαマスク画像の各画素をα値に用いて、RGBチャンネルに描画したグラデーション描画対象画像とα合成し、レンズフレア効果の描画を実現していた。
しかしながら、2次元描画用のハードウェアでα合成処理する場合、αマスク画像を事前に準備する必要がある。このとき、特許文献1のようにαマスク画像の形状が同心円に固定されていれば事前に準備しておくことが可能であるが、形状が固定でなければ、任意形状のαマスク画像をその都度生成する必要がある。描画処理中にαマスク画像を生成する場合には生成処理に時間がかかることから、リアルタイムに任意形状のグラデーション効果を実現することが困難であるという課題があった。
この発明は、上記のような課題を解決するためになされたもので、高速にαマスク画像を生成して、グラデーション描画を高速に処理可能とすることを目的とする。
この発明のグラデーション描画装置は、仮想的な3次元空間に配置された3次元形状モデルを、所定の仮想視点から描画する3次元形状描画部と、3次元形状描画部の描画結果より、仮想視点から3次元形状モデルまでの深度値を取得して、当該深度値を各画素に付与したαマスク画像を生成するαマスク取得部とを備えるものである。
この発明によれば、仮想視点から任意形状の3次元形状モデルまでの深度値を取得してαマスク画像を生成することにより、高速にαマスク画像を生成できるようになり、その結果、グラデーション描画が高速に処理可能となる。
以下、この発明をより詳細に説明するために、この発明を実施するための形態について、添付の図面に従って説明する。
実施の形態1.
実施の形態1では、2次元描画ハードウェアと3次元地図描画のための3次元描画ハードウェアとを備えるカーナビゲーション装置に対して、グラデーション描画装置を適用する例を用いて説明する。図1に示すグラデーション描画装置は、描画処理全体を制御する描画制御部1と、2次元描画用の命令を描画部5に対して発行する描画コマンド設定部2と、任意形状のαマスク(αマスク画像)を生成するαマスク生成部3と、生成したαマスクを描画部5に設定するためのαマスク設定部4と、描画処理を実行してグラデーション効果を表現した画像を生成する描画部5と、基本となる3次元形状モデルを複数格納する3次元形状データベース(以下、DB)10とを備える。なお、3次元形状DB10は3次元形状記憶部に相当する。
実施の形態1.
実施の形態1では、2次元描画ハードウェアと3次元地図描画のための3次元描画ハードウェアとを備えるカーナビゲーション装置に対して、グラデーション描画装置を適用する例を用いて説明する。図1に示すグラデーション描画装置は、描画処理全体を制御する描画制御部1と、2次元描画用の命令を描画部5に対して発行する描画コマンド設定部2と、任意形状のαマスク(αマスク画像)を生成するαマスク生成部3と、生成したαマスクを描画部5に設定するためのαマスク設定部4と、描画処理を実行してグラデーション効果を表現した画像を生成する描画部5と、基本となる3次元形状モデルを複数格納する3次元形状データベース(以下、DB)10とを備える。なお、3次元形状DB10は3次元形状記憶部に相当する。
また、αマスク生成部3は、3次元形状DB10から適切な3次元形状モデルを取得する3次元形状取得部6と、取得した3次元形状モデルを仮想的な3次元空間(以下、仮想3次元空間)に配置して描画用パラメータを設定する3次元形状配置部7と、配置された3次元形状モデルを描画する3次元形状描画部8と、3次元形状モデルの描画結果からαマスクを取得するαマスク取得部9とを備える。
このαマスク生成部3は、3次元描画ハードウェアを利用して各処理を行う。また、描画部5は、2次元描画ハードウェア又は3次元描画ハードウェアを利用して図形を描画したグラデーション処理対象画像を、2次元描画ハードウェアを利用してαマスクと合成することによりグラデーション描画を行う。
次に、図2に示すフローチャートを用いて、グラデーション描画装置の動作を説明する。
ステップST1において、先ず描画制御部1がαマスク生成部3に対してαマスク生成命令を発行する。このαマスク生成命令には、αマスクの形状として円形、線形、放射形等を指定する形状識別情報が含まれ、各形状に対応した3次元形状モデルを事前に割り当てておく。

続くステップST3において、3次元形状配置部7が、取得された3次元形状モデルをX,Y,Z軸からなる仮想3次元空間に配置し、その3次元形状モデルを拡大縮小及び回転させるための描画用パラメータを調整して、αマスク生成命令により指示されたαマスクに適した大きさ及び向きになるようにする。
続くステップST4において、3次元形状描画部8が、仮想3次元空間に配置された3次元形状モデルを所定位置の視点(以下、仮想視点)で描画する。続いて、ステップST5においてαマスク取得部9が、描画結果からZ値と呼ばれる画素毎の深度値(仮想視点から3次元形状モデルまでの距離値)を取得する。αマスク取得部9は各画素に深度値を付与したα画像を作成し、後述するように、このα画像をαマスクとして利用してグラデーション描画が行われることとなる。上記ステップST4の3次元形状描画処理において、3次元形状描画部8が3次元描画専用ハードウェアを活用することにより、高速にαマスクを生成することができる。
例えば、図4(a)のように配置した3次元形状モデル101を仮想視点Aについて描画すると、図4(b)に示すようなαマスクが取得可能である。図4では明るい部分は深度が浅いことを示し、暗い部分は深度が深いことを示す。また例えば、図5(a)のように配置した3次元形状モデル102を仮想視点Aについて描画すると、図5(b)に示すようなαマスクが取得可能となる。また例えば、図6(a)のように配置した3次元形状モデル103を仮想視点Aについて描画すると、図6(b)に示すような放射状に広がるグラデーション描画用のαマスクを取得可能となる。
なお、αマスクに画素毎のZ値を用いる他、グレースケールで描画した結果を用いてもよい。

続くステップST6において、αマスク設定部4がαマスクを描画部5へ設定する。また、ステップST7において、描画制御部1が描画コマンド設定部2へ図形描画命令を発行し、描画コマンド設定部2の図形描画コマンドを描画部5へ設定する。

なお、上記の例では1つの3次元形状モデルからαマスクを生成したが、これに限定されるものではなく、複数の3次元形状モデルを組み合わせて任意形状の3次元形状モデルを生成して任意形状のαマスクを生成するようにしてもよい。例えば曲線を中心にその周囲に広がるようなグラデーション描画を実行する場合、3次元形状配置部7が図7(a)に示すような仮想3次元空間上の曲線201に沿って複数の3次元形状モデル103を連続的に配置し、それぞれの3次元形状モデル103の描画用パラメータを調整する。3次元形状描画部8が図7(b)の3次元形状モデル群202を仮想視点Aについて描画すれば、図7(c)に示す通り、曲線を中心にその周囲にグラデーションが広がるようなαマスク203を取得できる。
これを応用すれば、カーナビゲーション装置においてモニタ画面に表示中の地図に、案内ルート線から遠ざかるにつれてグラデーションをかけて不鮮明にするといった視覚効果を実現することもできる。例えば図8に示す地図表示画面301では、案内ルート302を中心にその周囲に広がるようなグラデーション描画がなされている。
以上より、実施の形態1によれば、描画処理全体を制御する描画制御部1と、複数の3次元形状モデルが登録された3次元形状DB10と、3次元形状DB10より任意の3次元形状モデルを取得する3次元形状取得部6と、この3次元形状モデルを仮想的な3次元空間に配置する3次元形状配置部7と、仮想的な3次元空間に配置された3次元形状モデルを所定の仮想視点から描画する3次元形状描画部8と、描画結果より、仮想視点から3次元形状モデルまでの深度値を取得して、これら深度値を各画素に付与したαマスクを生成するαマスク取得部9と、αマスクを描画部5に設定するαマスク設定部4と、図形描画コマンドを描画部5に設定する描画コマンド設定部2と、図形描画コマンドに従って描画したグラデーション処理対象画像にαマスクを合成して、グラデーションを付与する描画部5とを備えるように構成した。このため、3次元形状モデルを組み合わせることで任意形状のαマスクを生成することができ、かつ、αマスク生成時に3次元描画ハードウェアを利用することにより高速に生成することができる。従って、グラデーション描画も高速に処理可能となる。
実施の形態2.
上記実施の形態1では、グラデーション描画装置が3次元形状DB10、3次元形状取得部6及び3次元形状配置部7を備え、3次元形状DB10に予め登録されている3次元形状モデルから任意形状のαマスクを生成する構成にしたが、本実施の形態2では任意形状の3次元形状モデルを形作ってαマスクを生成する構成とする。図9に示すように、実施の形態2に係るグラデーション描画装置は、メッシュグリッドデータから任意の3次元形状モデルを形成する3次元形状構成部11を新たに備える。この3次元形状構成部11は3次元描画ハードウェアを利用して処理を行う。なお、図9において図1と同一又は相当の部分については同一の符号を付し説明を省略する。
上記実施の形態1では、グラデーション描画装置が3次元形状DB10、3次元形状取得部6及び3次元形状配置部7を備え、3次元形状DB10に予め登録されている3次元形状モデルから任意形状のαマスクを生成する構成にしたが、本実施の形態2では任意形状の3次元形状モデルを形作ってαマスクを生成する構成とする。図9に示すように、実施の形態2に係るグラデーション描画装置は、メッシュグリッドデータから任意の3次元形状モデルを形成する3次元形状構成部11を新たに備える。この3次元形状構成部11は3次元描画ハードウェアを利用して処理を行う。なお、図9において図1と同一又は相当の部分については同一の符号を付し説明を省略する。
次に、図10に示すフローチャートを用いて、グラデーション描画装置の動作を説明する。
図10のステップST1は図2のステップST1と同じであり、描画制御部1がαマスク生成部3に対してαマスク生成命令を発行する。このαマスク生成命令には、メッシュグリッドデータを変形させるための3次元形状構成パラメータが含まれる。

続くステップST11において、αマスク生成部3がαマスク生成命令に含まれる3次元形状構成パラメータを3次元形状構成部11に通知し、3次元形状構成部11がこの3次元形状構成パラメータに従って図11に示すメッシュグリッドを変形させ、図12に示すような3次元形状モデルを生成する。
ここで、図11に示すメッシュグリッドデータは、仮想3次元空間においてX,Y軸からなる平面上の座標値(x,y)で表される格子点の集合であり、3次元形状構成部11が予め保持している。3次元形状構成パラメータは、各格子点をどの程度垂直方向(Z軸方向)に移動させるかを指定するものであり、移動量は正規化して0.0~0.1の範囲内にしておく。
ここで、図11に示すメッシュグリッドデータは、仮想3次元空間においてX,Y軸からなる平面上の座標値(x,y)で表される格子点の集合であり、3次元形状構成部11が予め保持している。3次元形状構成パラメータは、各格子点をどの程度垂直方向(Z軸方向)に移動させるかを指定するものであり、移動量は正規化して0.0~0.1の範囲内にしておく。
3次元形状構成部11は、3次元形状構成パラメータで指定された格子点を中心とした周辺格子点に対して、以下の式(1)を適用して各周辺格子点の垂直方向の移動量Zを求める。
ここで、wは指定された移動量であり、Σはグラデーションの広がり、即ち指定された格子点の移動に伴って移動する周辺格子点の影響範囲を表すパラメータで、2×2の行列である。これら移動量wと影響範囲Σが、αマスク生成命令中に3次元形状構成パラメータとして含められて3次元形状構成部11に通知される。また、Cは指定された格子点の座標(x,y)であり、Pはその周辺格子点のうち、算出対象の格子点の座標(x,y)である。
ここで、wは指定された移動量であり、Σはグラデーションの広がり、即ち指定された格子点の移動に伴って移動する周辺格子点の影響範囲を表すパラメータで、2×2の行列である。これら移動量wと影響範囲Σが、αマスク生成命令中に3次元形状構成パラメータとして含められて3次元形状構成部11に通知される。また、Cは指定された格子点の座標(x,y)であり、Pはその周辺格子点のうち、算出対象の格子点の座標(x,y)である。
3次元形状構成部11は、上式(1)を用いてメッシュグリッドの各格子点の垂直方向の移動量Zを計算する。複数の格子点が指定されて、1つの周辺格子点に複数の移動量Zが存在する場合には、上式(1)を用いて新たに計算した垂直方向の座標値と、現在の格子点の垂直方向の座標値とを比較して、より高い方の座標値を選択するようにすればよい。
また、3次元形状構成部11は、メッシュグリッドの格子数を変化させてもよい。メッシュグリッドの格子が大きいと、おおまかな形状のグラデーション効果を描画でき、一方、メッシュグリッドの格子が小さいと、例えばより多くの凹凸をαマスクに生成できるので、詳細な形状のグラデーション効果を描画できる。例えば、グラデーション効果をより詳細にする場合には、描画制御部1から3次元形状構成部11に対してメッシュグリッドの格子数を増やす命令を出力する。
続くステップST12において、3次元形状描画部8が仮想3次元空間内の仮想視点から見た3次元形状モデル(メッシュグリッド)を描画する。以下、図10に示すステップST5~ST8は、図2に示すステップST5~ST8と同様の処理であり、αマスク取得部9が描画結果から深度値(Z値)を取得してαマスクにし(ステップST5)、αマスク設定部4がαマスクを描画部5に設定すると共に(ステップST6)、描画コマンド設定部2が図形描画コマンドを描画部5に設定して(ステップST7)、描画部5が描画処理を実行すればグラデーションが描画できる(ステップST8)。
以上より、実施の形態2によれば、描画制御部1が、複数の格子点が平面状に連なったメッシュグリッドの、任意の格子点を垂直方向に移動させるための移動量wと、当該任意の格子点の移動に伴って移動する周辺の各格子点の影響範囲Σとを指示し、3次元形状構成部11は、複数の格子点が平面状に連なったメッシュグリッドデータを有し、描画制御部1が指示する移動量wに従って任意の格子点を移動させると共に、任意の格子点の周辺の影響範囲内の格子点も移動させて3次元形状モデルを生成するように構成した。このため、3次元形状モデルを予め準備しておかなくとも、メッシュグリッドを変形して3次元形状モデルを構成し、任意形状のαマスクを生成することができる。また、3次元描画ハードウェアを利用することにより、αマスクを高速に生成することができる。従って、グラデーション描画も高速に処理可能となる。
以上のように、この発明に係るグラデーション描画装置は、3次元形状モデルを用いて任意形状のαマスクを高速に生成するようにしたので、地図をグラデーション表示するカーナビゲーション装置等に用いるのに適している。
Claims (4)
- グラデーション処理対象画像にαマスク画像を合成して、グラデーションを付与するグラデーション描画装置であって、
仮想的な3次元空間に配置された3次元形状モデルを、所定の仮想視点から描画する3次元形状描画部と、
前記3次元形状描画部の描画結果より、前記仮想視点から前記3次元形状モデルまでの深度値を取得して、当該深度値を各画素に付与したαマスク画像を生成するαマスク取得部とを備えることを特徴とするグラデーション描画装置。 - 複数の3次元形状モデルが登録された3次元形状記憶部と、
前記3次元形状記憶部より任意の3次元形状モデルを取得する3次元形状取得部と、
前記3次元形状取得部が取得した3次元形状モデルを仮想的な3次元空間に配置する3次元形状配置部とを備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載のグラデーション描画装置。 - 仮想的な3次元空間に3次元形状モデルを生成する3次元形状構成部を備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載のグラデーション描画装置。
- 3次元形状構成部は、複数の格子点が平面状に連なったメッシュグリッドデータを有し、当該格子点それぞれを任意の移動量だけ垂直方向に移動させて3次元形状モデルを生成することを特徴とする請求項3記載のグラデーション描画装置。
