Definitions
- the present invention relates to a camera dictionary capable of displaying a dictionary in real time. More specifically, the present invention relates to a camera dictionary capable of real-time response that can automatically display new translated words automatically at the moment when an image captured by the camera changes.
- Patent Document 1 discloses a head mounted display device. This device takes a sentence in front of the user with a CCD camera, reads a sentence or word from the obtained image information, translates it, and displays it on a display.
- Patent Document 2 discloses an electronic dictionary. This electronic dictionary converts a word or sentence in the central part of the field of view into another form of word or sentence and displays it in the user's field of view.
- the “camera de dictionary” service is published on page 160 (Non-Patent Document 1) of the instruction manual of the mobile phone W31SA.
- This camera de dictionary service is obtained by adding an OCR function to a mobile phone.
- This mobile phone has a function of reading terms by OCR based on a photograph taken and translating the read terms.
- Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2 both capture a certain sentence and a certain word, and display the translated sentence and the translated word on a monitor based on the photograph.
- some words have multiple meanings. Therefore, these devices have a problem that mistranslation is likely to occur.
- Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2 both display the translated word in a predetermined display area. For this reason, when there are a plurality of characters in the user's field of view, there is a problem that it is difficult to understand which character has been translated.
- Non-Patent Document 1 reads terms using OCR based on a photograph (still image) taken and translates the read terms. Since this mobile phone performs translation processing based on still images, there is a problem in that it cannot translate and display appropriate terms in real time.
- an object of the present invention is to provide an information display device capable of real-time response capable of displaying appropriate correspondence information (translated words, translation information) one after another in real time according to the situation.
- the present invention is based on the knowledge that appropriate correspondence information can be displayed according to the situation by performing the translation work after grasping the type of translation object.
- the information display device of the present invention relates to a camera dictionary capable of displaying a dictionary in real time.
- this device determines a character included in the object photographed by the photographing unit 11. Then, this device extracts information corresponding to this character from the dictionary 12. Examples of information corresponding to characters are translated words and examples for certain terms. Then, the display unit 12 displays information corresponding to the character.
- a character is generally a character. However, the character may be a pictograph, code information, or a symbol.
- the object discriminating unit 13 of this apparatus discriminates the type (for example, document, signboard) of the object photographed by the photographing unit 11.
- the information extraction part 15 extracts the information corresponding to a character from the dictionary 12, it uses also the information regarding the kind of target object in addition to the information regarding a character. By doing so, for example, when a book is photographed, appropriate correspondence information can be extracted according to the situation, such as displaying dictionary information posted in the learning dictionary.
- a preferred example of the information display device of the present invention is to select an appropriate dictionary according to the type of object.
- the type of the object is determined using the color information of the part other than the character among the objects such as the background part of the character (paper part of the book). For example, if the character is black and the background is white or cream, the object is likely to be a book.
- a learning dictionary is selected based on information that the target is a book. By doing so, this device can extract and display dictionary information related to a term that the user wants to know, for example.
- a preferred example of the information display device of the present invention is that the information extraction unit 15 uses the type of the object determined by the object determination unit (13) and the character determined by the character determination unit 12 from the dictionary 12, One optimum word corresponding to the character is extracted. Then, the display unit 16 displays the optimum word, and when the displayed optimum word is incorrect, performs a display prompting the user to input that the displayed optimum word is incorrect. If an input indicating that the optimum word displayed on the information display device is incorrect is made, the information extraction unit 15 extracts a word different from the optimum word corresponding to the character from the dictionary 12. Then, the display unit 16 displays the other word.
- the above information display device displays on the display section the optimum word that the information display device has determined to be the optimum translation (even if the translation of the target word is incorrect).
- the optimum word for the target word that changes from moment to moment can be displayed in real time response.
- the photographing unit continuously photographs the subject, and after the photographing is performed, the optimum word of the target word is obtained and displayed on the display unit before the next photographing is performed. Thereby, the optimum word can be displayed at the moment when the object to be photographed changes.
- a preferred example of the information display device of the present invention is to discriminate the type of the object according to the orientation of the photographing unit. For example, when the photographing unit is in the horizontal direction or upward from the horizontal direction, it is considered that the user requests translation of a landscape or a signboard, not a book. In that case, the place name encyclopedia and the information selected based on the name encyclopedia are displayed.
- a preferred example of the information display device of the present invention is to discriminate the type of the object by the input from the user. For example, when the user selects the English-Japanese dictionary mode, dictionary information including the specified English-Japanese translation is displayed.
- a preferred example of the information display device of the present invention is to display the photographed object on the screen and display the translated characters superimposed on the object.
- the Japanese text is displayed on the monitor in place of the foreign language notation.
- the color of the character is determined, and the position, size, and angle of the character display unit 16 are determined.
- the color around the character is determined.
- the character before translation is covered with a color around the character before translation so that the character before translation is not displayed on the display unit.
- the translated word is displayed in correspondence with the character based on the position, size, angle, and character color on the character display unit 16. By doing so, the translated word is displayed superimposed on the screen on which the photograph was taken.
- the display unit 16 is a touch panel.
- the display unit 16 displays the object and the user indicates a character included in the object displayed on the touch panel, the character is specified and determined based on the instruction information.
- the information display apparatus can perform the translation work after grasping the type of the translation object, so that appropriate correspondence information can be displayed one after another in real time according to the situation, and real-time response is possible.
- a preferred example of the information display device of the present invention can display the translated word superimposed on the word to be translated, so that the translation target can be easily grasped.
- a preferred example of the information display apparatus of the present invention does not require the user to specify a translation target word based on a photograph, correspondence information regarding a new photographing target can be displayed instantaneously and continuously.
- a preferred example of the information display device of the present invention displays one word that is considered to be most suitable as a translated word, and prompts an input that suggests an error if the displayed word is incorrect as a translated word. As a result, it is possible to display instantaneously and continuously the correspondence information regarding the new photographing object.

- the information extraction unit 15 extracts one optimum word corresponding to the character from the dictionary 12.
- the optimum word may be extracted by selecting the dictionary 12 using information on the type of the object. For example, if the object is other than a book, if there is a word corresponding to the place name dictionary as the dictionary 12, the word may be given priority over words obtained from other dictionaries and determined as the optimum word.
- the information display apparatus may extract the optimum word without using information regarding the type of the object.
- the dictionary 12 may have, for example, a plurality of translations related to a certain word and store each translation along with the frequency of use. For example, assume that “a”, “i”, and “u” are stored in the dictionary as a translation for a certain word “A”. In this case, “A”, “I”, and “U” are respectively ranked first, second, and third. For example, when the information display device of the present invention translates the word “A”, the dictionary may be accessed and “a” having the highest ranking may be displayed as the optimum word on the display unit. As will be described later, when “A” is wrongly input to the information display device, the dictionary is accessed, “I” next to “A” is read out, and it is displayed on the display unit. You may make it display.
- the information display device of the present invention may have a co-occurrence database that stores a translation of words and words that are frequently included in sentences in association with each other.
- the word “prescription” has translations such as “prescription”, “advice”, “rule”, and “aging”.
- the co-occurrence database stores, for example, words related to a disease, drug or pharmacy (“diabetes”, “drag”, “medicament”, “pharmacie”) in association with a “prescription” related to the word “prescription”. Good.
- the target word of translation is “prescription” and there are words related to a disease, a drug, or a pharmacy before and after “prescription”
- the information display device of the present invention displays “prescription”. Extract as the best word.
- words such as “damage”, “account of profit”, “criminal offense” may be stored in association with “aging”.
- the word “prescription” as the target word is translated into “prescription” and displayed using the word “diapetes” included in the part photographed by the camera.
- This information display device when translating the target word, stores a word in the same line as the target word or a word included in a location photographed by the camera in the storage unit. Then, the information display device also reads the related words of the translation of the target word stored in the dictionary. After that, a calculation process is performed to determine whether or not related words are included in the words stored in the storage unit. In this way, it is possible to perform a co-occurrence determination process for selecting a translated word.
- this information display device can appropriately display only one translation of the target word. For this reason, at the moment when the target word is changed, one translation word corresponding to the target word after the change can be displayed in real time.
- the information display device displays an optimum word and displays a message prompting the user to input that the optimum word displayed is incorrect when the displayed optimum word is incorrect.
- reference numeral 21 is a display for prompting the user to input that the optimum word is incorrect.
- the optimal word is displayed on the display unit of the information display device by the processing described above.
- the user determines that this translation is not appropriate, the user wants to display the next candidate translation. For example, the user touches the display 21 for prompting an input that the optimum word is incorrect. Then, since the display unit is a touch panel type input unit, information indicating that the optimum word is incorrect is input to the information display device.
- the control unit of the information display device accesses the dictionary 2 again, reads the translated word having the second highest ranking, and displays it on the display unit.
- the present invention also provides a program for causing a computer to function as the above information display device, and further provides a computer-readable information recording medium storing the program.
- the present invention also provides an information processing method by the above information processing apparatus.
- the present invention relates to a camera dictionary capable of real-time response that can automatically display new translated words automatically at the moment when an image captured by the camera changes.
- the processing speed in the computer cannot catch up and the display of the translated words is delayed. That is, until a word is photographed by the camera and the translated word of the word is displayed, the word photographed by the camera is identified, the translated word of the identified word is extracted from the dictionary, and the extracted translated word is displayed on the display device. Is displayed.
- the process of extracting a translated word of a photographed word from a dictionary is complicated and requires a relatively long possession time. Therefore, it is required to extract and display only the translation words required by the user from the dictionary.
- the speed at which words are continuously photographed according to the present invention varies depending on the language ability of the user.
- a user with high language ability has a high speed of reading a document, so that a word is photographed by the present invention at a high speed. Therefore, there is a point to be improved that the translation processing by the computer cannot keep up with the speed at which the user reads the document. Therefore, there is a demand for an information display device that can display translated words at a timing according to the user's ability.
- a further embodiment of the present invention aims to improve the processing speed of the entire computer by displaying only translated words required by the user.
- a further embodiment of the present invention has the following configuration. That is, a further embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIG. An imaging unit (11) for imaging an object; A dictionary (12) having a difficulty level database that stores information related to a plurality of characters and classifies information related to each character according to the difficulty level; Object discriminating section (13) for discriminating the type of the object photographed by the photographing section (11).
- a character discriminating section (14) for discriminating characters included in the object photographed by the photographing section (11);
- Each character discriminated by the character discriminating unit (14) is analyzed based on a difficulty level database included in the dictionary (12), and the difficulty level of each character is determined, whereby the photographing unit (11).
- a level determination unit (51) for determining the language level of the user who has photographed the object according to A database selection unit (52) that selects a difficulty level database included in the dictionary (12) according to the language level of the user determined by the level determination unit (51); From the difficulty level database selected by the database selection unit (52) based on the type of the object determined by the object determination unit (13) and the character determined by the character determination unit (12), An information extraction unit (15) for extracting information corresponding to the character; A display unit (16) for displaying information corresponding to the character extracted by the information extraction unit (15); including, An information display device.
- the dictionary 12 stores information related to a plurality of characters. Further, the dictionary 12 has a difficulty level database in which information related to each character is classified according to the difficulty level. In the difficulty level database, each character is classified according to the difficulty level. For example, English words are classified as beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The difficulty level of the character may be classified into two levels or may be classified into three or more levels. Moreover, it is preferable that a numerical value corresponding to the difficulty level is stored for each of the plurality of characters in the difficulty level database. A numerical value corresponding to the difficulty level of the character is used in the process of determining the level of the user who captured the object.
- a numerical value 1 is assigned to a word whose level of difficulty is classified as beginner
- a numerical value 2 is assigned to a word classified as intermediate
- a numerical value 3 is assigned to a word classified as advanced.
- numerical values of 1.0 to 1.9 may be assigned to words assigned to the beginner level according to the difficulty level.
- a numerical value may not be assigned or a numerical value of 0 may be assigned.
- examples of words that are not required to display translated words include particles, articles, auxiliary verbs, and conjunctions.
- about the numerical value allocated about each of a character it can change suitably and is not limited to the example mentioned above.
- the difficulty database is one in which the number of characters to be stored decreases as the difficulty increases.
- the difficulty database having a high difficulty stores a character having a high difficulty among characters stored in the difficulty database having a low difficulty. That is, more words are stored in the difficulty level database having a lower difficulty level, and fewer words are stored in the difficulty level database having a higher difficulty level.
- each difficulty database classifies and stores a plurality of characters according to the type of object.
- types of objects are books, notebooks, posters, maps, game screens, dolls, nameplates, and signboards.
- the imaging unit 11 includes a level determination unit 51 that determines the language level of the user who has captured the object.
- the level determination unit 51 determines the difficulty level of each character included in the object photographed by the user based on the difficulty level database included in the dictionary 12, and grasps the difficulty level of the word that the user needs to translate. By doing so, the language level of the user is determined. For example, if there are many characters included in the object photographed by the user that are assigned to the beginner level in the difficulty level database, the user level can be determined to be the beginner level.
- Information on the language level of the user determined by the level determination unit 51 is stored in the storage unit.
- the level determination unit 51 determines the difficulty level for all the characters determined by the character determination unit 14. At this time, a numerical value corresponding to the difficulty level stored in the difficulty level database is used as the difficulty level of the character. For example, when the number of characters determined by the character determination unit 14 is 10, a numerical value corresponding to the difficulty level is obtained from the difficulty level database for each of the 10 characters. Then, the numerical values corresponding to the difficulty level of each character are summed. Then, the total number is divided by the number of characters, and an average value of the difficulty levels of the characters determined by the character determination unit 14 is obtained.
- the level determination unit 51 can determine the level according to the average value of the difficulty level of the character thus obtained as the language level of the user. Information relating to the number of characters used by the determination unit 51 to determine the language level of the user, a numerical value corresponding to the character difficulty level, and an average value of the numerical values corresponding to the character difficulty level is stored in the storage unit. .
- the level determination unit 51 may update the information related to the user's language level stored in the storage unit each time the character determination unit 14 determines a character. Thereby, the information regarding the language level memorize
- the language level of the user stored in the storage unit may be arbitrarily selected by the user.
- the database selection unit 52 that selects a difficulty level database included in the dictionary 12 according to the language level of the user determined by the level determination unit 51 is provided.
- the dictionary 12 includes a difficulty level database in which information related to each character is classified according to the difficulty level. Then, the level determination unit 51 selects a difficulty database corresponding to the determined language level of the user from the dictionary 12. For example, when the level determination unit 51 determines that the user's language level is elementary, the database selection unit 52 selects a difficulty database that stores characters according to the elementary language level.
- the information extraction unit 15 is selected by the database selection unit 52 based on the type of the object determined by the object determination unit 13 and the character determined by the character determination unit 12. Information corresponding to this character is extracted from the difficulty database.
- the difficulty level database information corresponding to the character is classified and stored in the type of the object, so that the information extraction 15 can extract a translated word of the character corresponding to the type of the object.
- the number of stored characters decreases as the difficulty level increases. Even if the character is discriminated by the character discriminating unit 12, the information extracting unit 15 does not extract a translated word for a character that is not stored in the selected difficulty database.
- the number of translated words extracted by the information extraction unit 15 is reduced.
- the difficulty database the number of characters stored increases as the difficulty decreases. That is, when the language level of the user is low, the number of translated words extracted by the information extraction unit 15 increases.
- the further embodiment of the present invention can appropriately display the translation words required by the user according to the user's ability.
- the present invention can be effectively used as a learning device or a travel tool.

Abstract
