  • the second housing 116 is further provided with a locking pawl 124 extending frontwards along the direction RF.
  • the locking pawl 124 carries a second locking stop 126 intended to come in between the first locking stop 112 and the auxiliary stop 114 when the connectors 102, 104 are mated, so as to cooperate with the first locking stop 112 for locking the connectors 102, 104 ( Figure 4).
  • the second locking stop 126 comprises a top slanted face 127 and a rear stopping face 129.
  • the second connector 104 further comprises a CPA member 128 mounted on the second housing 116 and able to move with respect to the second housing 116 along the direction D, from a rear position illustrated on figure 1 , towards a front position illustrated on figure 5.
  • the CPA member 128 comprises a CPA pawl 130 extending frontwards along the direction RF.
  • the CPA pawl 130 comprises a finger 132 located at a front end of the CPA pawl 130 and projecting downwardly.
  • the finger 132 acts both as a stop portion and an activation portion.
  • the finger 132 acts as a stop portion and is stopped by the stopping face 129 of the second locking stop 126, before the CPA member 128 reaches the front position ( Figures 1 and 2). In this way, the CPA member 128 is prevented from reaching the front position, so as to detect a wrong mating of the connectors 102, 104.
  • the finger 132 acts as an activating portion and cooperates first with the slanted face 115 of first locking stop 112, so as to deflect the CPA pawl 130 over a first deflection distance d1 in a deflection direction D transverse to the direction RF, and to shift the stop portion (finger 132) with respect to the second locking stop 126.
  • the stop portion (finger 132) does not abut the stopping face 129 so that the CPA member is allowed to move towards the front position.
  • the activating portion (finger 132) then interacts with and slips over the top slanted face 127 of the second locking stop 126, so as to deflect the CPA pawl 130 over a second deflection distance d2 in the deflection direction, so as to shift the stop portion (finger 132) with respect to the auxiliary stop 114. In this way, the stop portion (finger 132) does not abut the auxiliary stop 114 and allows the CPA member to move towards the front position.
  • the CPA pawl 130 further comprises a recess area 134 (See fig. 5) located, with respect to the direction D, behind the stop portion (finger 132).
  • the recess area 134 is intended to receive, when the CPA member is in the front position, the first locking stop 112 and the auxiliary stop ( Figure 5), so as to allow a release of the CPA pawl 130 over a release distance d R in a release direction R opposite the deflection direction D.
  • the release distance dR is of at least 50% of the deflection distance d1+d2 and still preferably of at least 90% of the deflection distance d1+d2.
  • the CPA pawl is able to return close to its initial position (which is a rest position in the described example).
  • the CPA pawl 130 leans on the auxiliary stop 1 14.
  • a second electrical connector assembly 200 is illustrated.
  • the second assembly 200 differs from the first assembly 100 mainly by the fact that there is no auxiliary stop, and by the fact that the stop portion is formed by a front end 202 of the CPA pawl 130, while the activating portion is formed by a finger 204 projecting downwardly from the CPA pawl 130 and located at a distance behind the front end 202. Furthermore, the recess 134 is located between the front end 202 and the finger 204.
