Abstract

The present invention relates to a rope braking device for an elevator, and more specifically relates to a rope braking device for an elevator adapted to allow automatic braking of the elevator in the event of a power failure or the elevator rising/descending at excessively high speed or operating with the doors opening and closing due to mechanical breakdown or abnormal operation. In order to achieve the above aim, the present invention is a rope braking device for an elevator comprising a pair of securing frames, a supporting frame provided on the insides of the pair of securing frames, and an operating unit which is provided on the supporting frame and is equipped with an air tank and a cylinder so as to be able to lock/release a rope; wherein a cylinder rod and an air tank are integrally formed joined to the cylinder of the operating unit.
