Description

DESCRIPTION OF INDUSTRIAL INVENTION
Opening, closing and blocking device for shutters" The subscriber has conceived a new product, that is to say an opening, closing and blocking device that can be employed with window and French window shutters.
Nowadays, leaning out of the window is necessary in order to open or to close the shutters as well as to block them in the correct open position.
This can represent a big danger for the user.
Blocking shutters is necessary because of the possible presence of wind, which tends to provoke the rotation of the shutter and its consequent closing.
The quick and often violent closing of the shutters can damage the shutter itself, which implies reparation or substitution expenses.
Temporary blocking devices known nowadays are just partial solutions: they block the shutter in a completely open position and consist of a flask protruding out of the outside wall in which the window has been built, not far from the lower edge of the window. There is a short rod under this flask.
It is fixed on a pivot and it turns upwards so that it can be positioned frontally and, as a consequence, the shutter is blocked and cannot move.
The main disadvantage of these well-known devices is that their employment is quite difficult and dangerous for the user, as he/she must lean out of the window.
Another important inconvenient aspect of the employment of such a device is represented by the fact that it does not allow the blocking of the shutter in an intermediate position.
Another disadvantage is represented by the fact that it is necessary to bore a hole in the external walls of a building in order to install these well-known devices.
This is very damaging, especially if the external wall is covered with a thermo-acoustic isolation, which has been used very often in the last years to save energy.
Moreover, rain that could penetrate through the holes bored on the wall in order to install the devices mentioned above, can provoke an infiltration, which would be a serious damage, very expensive to repair.
The main aim of the new tool is to solve the technical problem mentioned above and, as a consequence, to avoid inconvenient. The tool can be a good solution as it allows not only to open and to close shutters, but also to block them temporarily in an intermediate position very easily and safely for the user.
Another important aspect of this tool is that it cannot be broken or damaged by crashes or by atmospheric agents.
Last, but not least: the structure (it must be very simple) and the cost (it must not be too high).
The tool has an opening and closing device, which is able to move. It is particularly fit for shutters consisting of a panel fixed on a jamb and able to rotate.
The tool consists of a box-body which is fixed in correspondence of the shutters.
An arm, overhanging from one side and connected nearly horizontally to the panel, is connected to a movement mechanism. Another particular aspect of the tool is represented by the fact that it can be installed in a "contrary-position": the box-body can be connected to the panel.
Further features and advantages of the tool will be explained more carefully in the detailed description of the realization.
It is illustrated in the enclosed pictures as follows:
- Pictures n.1 show the tool (1a) seen from a frontal side;
- Picture n.2 shows the tool and its grip in a moving position (2a) and its grip in the blocking position (2b) seen from a lateral side;
- Picture n.3 shows the tool in the exploded view (1a);
- Picture n.4 shows the solution achieved if the object (1a) is applied to shutters in a closed position (4a), in an intermediate position (4b) and in an open position (4c) ;
With reference to the pictures mentioned above, each element has been marked with a number: for example, the opening and closing device usable for window or French window shutters is marked by number 1a.
In the realization illustrated in the pictures n.4, the tool marked with n.1 a is associated to a window jamb (n.9) and the panel (4a 4b 4c), fixed on the side of the jamb (n.9), rotates.
The opening and closing device (n.1a) consists of a box-body (n.10), which is attached directly to or near to the window jamb (n.9) through mechanical means using the holes (n.11 ).
The box-body (n.10) contains a moving and horizontal sliding mechanism.
This moving mechanism consists of a pivot (n.12) placed perpendicularly to the surface of the body (n.15).
In correspondence of the first extremity (12 a) of the pivot (n.12), it is internally associated to the hole of the grip (n.13) through a pin (marked by n.14), so that it cannot rotate.
The grip (n.13) is placed outside the box-body (n.10), so that it can be set up by the user.
The second extremity (n.12 b) of the pivot (n.12) is threaded, so that it can be put into threaded hole (15 a), axially obtained into the body (n.15).
As a consequence, if the user rotates the grip (n.13), the body (n.15) and the grip (n.13) are moved axially.
The surface n.15b has to interact on the inside surface of the box-body (n.10), so that the horizontal moving mechanism is blocked, as shown in picture n.2 (2b).
If the user rotates the grip (n.13) in the opposite direction, the body (n.15) and the grip (n.13) are moved axially, so that the horizontal moving mechanism is unblocked, as shown in picture n.2 (2a).
This body (n.15), collocated inside the box-body (n.10), is fixed in a rotating way through a pivot (n.17) to an arm (n.16) leaning out of the opposite side of the box-body.
A prism shaped strap marked with n.19 is fixed to the arm (n.16) in a rotating way through a pivot (n.18) and it is associated to the side of the panel shutter through well-known mechanical means and using the holes (n.19a).
If the user pushes horizontally the grip (n.13), the arm comes out of the box-body (n.10) provoking the opening of the panel.
So, the user pushes horizontally the grip (n.13) in the opposite direction, the arm (n.16) retracts from the box-body (n.10), provoking the closing of the panel.
The whole system works as follows: with reference to pictures, it is possible to open the shutters simply rotating the grip in the unblocking position and pushing it or the panel until the desired position.
If the grip is rotated in the blocking position of the moving mechanism, the panel is blocked in the desired position.
The goal has been achieved - the whole system allows the temporary blocking of shutters.
The tool can also be set up very fast by coordinating the three mechanical opening movements with the blocking or unblocking device. In doing so, the user will not be in uncomfortable and dangerous situations.
For example, he/she will not have to lean out of the window to open completely, to block or unblock the shutters.
As the tool can be blocked at any intermediate position, it can also allow the user to use the shutters as protection shield from wind or sun.
Furthermore the blocking device can neither be broken by accidental crashes nor be damaged by atmospheric agents.
The tool can obviously be modified, as well as the materials employed and the sizes of each element can be chosen according to the specific needs of the customer.
The different means employed to execute the functions can also be varied - the illustration shows just one of the many possible forms of realization.

Claims
