Abstract

The present invention provides a superior method which involves adding a reducing agent for removing side reaction products from polysulfide ester-amides when conducting a reaction between 3-mercaptopropion esters or 3,3'-dithiodipropiondimethylesters and amines, to obtain N-substituted-3-mercaptopropionamides or N,N'-disubstituted-3,3'-dithiodipropionamides, and enables the thus-obtained N-substituted-3-mercaptopropionamides or N,N'-disubstituted-3,3'-dithiodipropionamides to react with air, oxygen, iodine or a hydroperoxide solution, thereby achieving the high-yield preparation of high-purity and stable N,N'-disubstituted-3,3'-dithiodipropionamides, wherein N,N'-disubstituted-3,3'-polythiodipropionamides are not substantially present.
