Description

BULLET PROOF SENTRY BOX MADE OF STEEL AND MULTI- LAYERED TRANSPARENT ARMOR EQUD7PED WITH TEAR GAS AND FLASH-BANG GRENADE LAUNCHING SYSTEMS The current invention refers to a bullet proof sentry box consisting of bullet proof material the objective of which is the preservation of life and avoidance of bodily injuries of those using it so that the safety of the person standing guard within the sentry box is secured. The bulletproof sentry boxes due to social and international turmoil as well as increased terrorist attacks have a higher demand for ensuring the safety of their users (guards/sentries), as long as they are made of homogeneous bullet proof material (concerning mainly the cabin walls) in contrast with other types the bullet proof armor which is achieved by the combination of concrete (cement) and thin metal so that their minimum in thickness metal armor is reinforced.
This bullet proof sentry box can be used by security personnel who guard buildings, critical infrastructure, military sites and private individuals.
Brief presentation of figures 1-9.
In figure -1- an armored sentry cabin is presented, which in addition to its standard modern edition equipment it is also furnished with a tear gas launcher placed externally on its ceiling with elements -13- through -18-.
Figure -2- the metal cover (B) is presented, which encircles the external system of the gas launcher. Figure -3- illustrates an armored sentry cabin (a guarding watch tower with a boosted level of safety), which in addition to others, has for one, a smaller sized bulletproof glass panel and on the other, the hatches (5) for weapon use. Figure -4- depicts the top view of the sentry box interior's is and the arrangement of the necessary furnishing as well as its auxiliary equipment.
Figures -5- and -6- illustrate the entire system of the tear gas launcher is depicted as well as the operation from within the cabin.
Figure -7- illustrates the sentry cabin bearing on its ceiling the man hatch (37) for hand throwing flash-bang grenades is depicted. Figures -8- and -9- illustrate the mechanical system of opening and closing the hatch which also has a rotating capability. Description of the invention
The bullet proof sentry box in figure -1- bears only the compact steel armor (1) which essentially defines the vertical and horizontal surfaces of its shape. It also bears four bullet proof glass panels 7cm thick, each of which comprises multi layered material (2) 6cm thick on one of its surfaces intended for the cabin's interior on which an additional composite bullet proof material (2a) at least 1cm thick is attached. This composite material (2a), figure -4- due to its different coefficient of elasticity, decreases the kinetic energy of impact (originating from the externally shot surface of the multi layered glass panel), thus precluding any debris from the internally unaffected surface of glass panel (2) to cause injuries to guards within. The bulletproof glass panels (2-2a) are placed and supported by the exterior of the cabin and held in place by the frames (3).
The above described bullet proof sentry box is classified as "Level IV", since it is able to withstand a bullet of supersonic velocity from a military rifle Ml, a bullet weighing 10,8g (166grains) and a velocity of 878m/s. The cabin depicted in figure -1- is equipped with larger area glass panels comparing to those of figure -3- and since it is not intended for military use in war zones, it also has a hatch (11) for handling mail and operating an intercom phone device (10). On its highest point there is a lamp used as a visual alarm indication (L2), as well as a CCTV camera (W) for recording and transmitting information, and (according to the figures) to the right upper side it bears the supports (8) for its lifting and transportation, while on the roof (R) of its cabin the is a revolving search light (Li) for space survey, the external unit of the air conditioning system (9), the siren (12) as well as the rotating tear gas launcher system. Such a system comprises the canister (13), support base (14) attached on to the shell (15) through bolts (S), the pressure gauge (16), the launcher (17), while the elements of the above mentioned system are protected by armor (B) as in figure 2, so that the visual input of the system supported by the rotating shaft (18) is camouflaged. The mechanical system of the tear gas rotating shaft (18) which through ball bearings (19) operates together with fixed element (20) that is attached via bolts (S) to the roof (R) of the watch tower while the small shaft (24) passes through the body of the shaft (18), shaft (24) which, through the configuration (24a) and the handle (25a), ends to revolving swift change key for the passage of the tear gas to the launcher (17), while the entire system may rotate about its support shaft sweeping up to 350° via perforated disc (22) which has a tooth (22a) that enters channel (C) which is configured into a shaft (18), figure -6-.
The above mentioned disc is supported through the nut (23) by the threaded shaft (18) and via the incorporated handle (26), the entire system being able to rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise. Furthermore each type of bulletproof cabin (and depending upon the guarding conditions) can have on its roof an additional man hatch (37) for launching flash bang grenades.
Figure 4 illustrates the bulletproof cabin in top view, where the necessary equipment such as the base (27) of the sub-machine gun holder with the vertical magnet (28) where the weapon is secured, the telephone (29), the alarm switch (30), the office desk (31), the seat (32), the first aid kit (33), the heating unit (34) and there must be a basic needs refrigerator (35) because the guard should be in the sentry box most of the time, while the door (7) having the latch (36) opens in such a rotational direction having on one hand the ability to disengage the guard and on the other to ensure controlled coverage on the person inside the cabin.
Figure -3- depicts the bulletproof cabin bearing bulletproof glass panels of small height underneath of which are hatches (5) with retractable hatches (4) equipped with latches (6). Those cabins are intended for usage in war zones, thus allowing the guard (5) to fire a rifle from within through the hatches. In such war zones the bullet proof cabin also has the rotating waterproof man hatch (37) that opens from within with the aid of a small ladder tucked away on the ceiling. The purpose of such a hatch is to launch flash bang grenades or even (regular) grenades. The hatch (37) supported by hinge (42) has a rotating mechanism and can be oriented in such a way that during its opening may be used as a shield. The moving part (40) operates together with fixed part (41-4 la), which is attached on to the roof (R), figures -8- and -9-, while rotation is achieved via ball bearing (19). The roof (R) has a passage opening (T), while internally the hatch (37) is equipped with a movable arm (38-38a), being guided by supports (D) and operating also aw a latch the end of which enters a recess (U) during the time when the above mentioned hatch is being sealed. This latch has a movable handle (39) that allows a left or right displacement of its moment arm according to its operational needs, e.g., the opening (lifting) of the hatch which as a result of its weight causes the moving handle (39) to move left or right, while for the rotation of the entire system of the open hatch, the moving handle is shifted to a lower level of moment arm, figure -8-.
