La présente invention concerne un procédé de détection de la qualité dune liaison, ledit procédé comportant les étapes suivantes : une extrémité locale envoie périodiquement un message de demande décho à une extrémité opposée, le contenu du message de demande décho comprenant lheure denvoi par lextrémité locale du message de demande décho et le numéro de séquence du paquet ; lextrémité locale reçoit un message de réponse décho renvoyé à partir de lextrémité opposée et, en fonction du contenu du message de réponse décho, de lheure denvoi du message de réponse décho et de lhistorique, calcule les indices de qualité de la liaison et mémorise le contenu du message de réponse décho et lheure de réception par lextrémité locale elle-même du message de réponse décho dans lhistorique. En même temps, la présente invention concerne également un dispositif de détection de la qualité de la liaison, ledit dispositif comportant un premier module émetteur-récepteur, un module de calcul et un module dhistorique, qui sont positionnés au niveau de lextrémité locale. Lapplication dudit procédé et dudit dispositif de la présente invention permet de mettre en uvre une détection de la qualité de liaison en ne définissant un mécanisme de détection de la qualité de la liaison quà une extrémité de la liaison.
