Description

光記録媒体ドライブ装置及び記録方法
 本発明は、ガイド層分離型の光記録媒体のドライブ装置及び記録方法に関する。
 多数の記録層を備える光ディスクとして、各記録層とガイド層とが分離形成されたガイド層分離型のディスクがある。ガイド層分離型のディスクについて情報を記録再生する光ディスクドライブ装置においては、ガイド層からガイドトラックを読み取るためのガイド用のレーザビーム(ガイド光)と、記録層に対して情報を書き込む又は記録情報を読み取るための記録再生用のレーザビーム(記録再生光)とが必要となる。従って、光ディスク記録再生装置には、ガイド用のレーザビームを光ディスクのガイド層に照射してその反射光を受光するガイド光学系と、記録再生用のレーザビームを光ディスクのいずれか記録層に照射してその反射光を受光する記録再生光学系とが備えられており、ガイド光学系及び記録再生光学系では1つの対物レンズが共用されている。
 従来の光ディスクドライブ装置において、1つの記録層への情報記録時には、ガイド用のレーザビームの焦点位置を対物レンズ駆動のフォーカスサーボ制御及びトラッキングサーボ制御によりガイド層のガイドトラック上を移動させる一方、記録再生光学系のコリメータレンズを光軸方向に移動させて記録再生用のレーザビームを1つの記録層に対して集光させて情報を書き込むことが行われる(特許文献1参照)。別の方法としては、ガイド用のレーザビームの焦点位置を対物レンズ駆動のフォーカスサーボ制御及びトラッキングサーボ制御によりガイド層のガイドトラック上を移動させる一方、ガイド光学系のコリメータレンズを光軸方向に移動させることにより光ディスクと対物レンズとの距離(作動距離WD)を変化させてガイド用のレーザビームのフォーカス状態を維持した状態で焦点位置記録再生用のレーザビームを1つの記録層に対して集光させて情報を書き込むことが行われる(特許文献2参照)。

 しかしながら、ガイド層分離型のディスク対応の従来の光ディスクドライブ装置においては、記録再生光の記録層へのフォーカスサーボ制御を記録再生光学系又はガイド光学系に備えられたコリメータレンズを光軸方向に移動させて対物レンズに入射する記録再生光の拡散具合を変化させることにより行っているので、情報記録時に記録再生光の記録層へのフォーカスサーボ制御の精度や安定性に欠けるという問題があった。特に、外乱や光ディスクの面ぶれ等の不安定要因が発生すると、ガイド光のフォーカスサーボ制御で駆動される対物レンズ自体が光軸方向で予測できない動きをすることになり、記録再生光の集光スポットの位置がその対物レンズの予測できない動きのために、記録再生光の記録層へのフォーカスサーボ制御の精度や安定性に悪影響を及ぼすことになる。
 そこで、本発明が解決しようとする課題には、上記の欠点が一例として挙げられ、ガイド層分離型の光記録媒体に記録する際に高精度で安定してガイド光をガイド層のガイドトラックに追従させつつ目標の記録層に記録光を集光させて情報を記録することができる光記録媒体ドライブ装置及び記録方法を提供することを目的とする。
 請求項1に係る発明の光記録媒体ドライブ装置は、ガイドトラックが形成されたガイド層と記録層とが離間して積層されたガイド層分離型の光記録媒体の前記記録層に対して前記ガイドトラックに従って情報の光学的な記録を行う光記録媒体ドライブ装置であって、記録用の第1レーザビームを発生する第1光源と、ガイド用の第2レーザビームを発生する第2光源と、前記第1レーザビームと前記第2レーザビームとを合成して同軸に導く合成プリズムと、前記合成プリズムからの前記第1及び第2レーザビーム各々を前記光記録媒体に向けて集光させる対物レンズと、前記第1レーザビームの前記記録層からの反射光を検出する第1光検出手段と、前記第2レーザビームの前記ガイド層からの反射光を検出する第2光検出手段と、前記第2光源と前記合成プリズムとの間の前記第2レーザビームの光路上に配置され前記対物レンズに入射する前記第2レーザビームを拡散又は収束させる倍率変換素子と、前記第1光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて前記第1レーザビームの集光スポット位置と前記記録層との誤差を示す第1フォーカスエラー信号を生成する第1フォーカスエラー生成手段と、前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置と前記ガイド層との誤差を示す第2フォーカスエラー信号を生成する第2フォーカスエラー生成手段と、前記第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズをその光軸方向に制御する第1フォーカス制御手段と、前記第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記倍率変換素子による前記第2レーザビームの拡散又は収束の大きさを制御する第2フォーカス制御手段と、を備えることを特徴としている。
 請求項11に係る発明の光記録媒体ドライブ装置の記録方法は、ガイドトラックが形成されたガイド層と記録層とが離間して積層されたガイド層分離型の光記録媒体の前記記録層に対して前記ガイドトラックに従って情報の光学的な記録を行うために、記録用の第1レーザビームを発生する第1光源と、ガイド用の第2レーザビームを発生する第2光源と、前記第1レーザビームと前記第2レーザビームとを合成して同軸に導く合成プリズムと、前記合成プリズムからの前記第1及び第2レーザビーム各々を前記光記録媒体に向けて集光させる対物レンズと、前記第1レーザビームの前記記録層からの反射光を検出する第1光検出手段と、前記第2レーザビームの前記ガイド層からの反射光を検出する第2光検出手段と、前記第2光源と前記合成プリズムとの間の前記第2レーザビームの光路上に配置され前記対物レンズに入射する前記第2レーザビームを拡散又は収束させる倍率変換素子と、前記第1光源と前記合成プリズムとの間の前記第1レーザビームの光路上に配置された球面収差補正素子と、を備える光記録媒体ドライブ装置の記録方法であって、前記球面収差補正素子を前記記録層の再生に最適な補正状態に制御し、前記第1レーザビームの焦点が前記記録層上に位置するように前記第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御し、前記第2レーザビームの焦点が前記ガイド層に位置するように第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記倍率変換素子を制御し、前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置が前記ガイド層のガイドトラック上に位置するように前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御し、前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて記録媒体情報を読み取り、前記第1レーザビームを変調して前記記録層への記録を開始させることを特徴としている。
 請求項1に係る発明の光記録媒体ドライブ装置及び請求項11に係る発明の記録方法によれば、第1レーザビームの集光スポット位置と光記録媒体の記録層との誤差を示す第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じて対物レンズをその光軸方向に制御し、第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置と光記録媒体のガイド層との誤差を示す第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて倍率変換素子による第2レーザビームの拡散又は収束の大きさを制御し、これにより第1レーザビームを記録層上に集光させ、第2レーザビームをガイド層上に集光させるので、ガイド層分離型の光記録媒体に記録する際に高精度で安定してガイド光をガイド層のガイドトラックに追従させつつ目標の記録層に記録光を集光させて情報を記録することができる。

 以下、本発明の実施例を図面を参照しつつ詳細に説明する。
 図1は、本発明が適用された多層光ディスク記録再生装置の構成を示している。この多層光ディスク記録再生装置は、ディスク駆動系、光学系、及び信号処理系からなり、多数の記録層が積層された光ディスク1に対して情報の記録/再生を光学的に行うものである。この実施例では光ディスク1には3つの記録層L2~L0と1つのガイド層GLとが分離形成されているとする。記録層L2,L1,L0はその順で光ディスク1のレーザビームの入射表面から奥に位置する。ガイド層GLは記録層L0より更に奥に位置する。ガイド層GLにはディスク情報が記録されたガイドトラックが形成されている。ディスク情報は例えば、ガイド層GLの最内周のガイドトラックに予め形成されており、ディスクの記録条件、ディスクの種類、記録層数、記録層間隔等のディスクの固有情報及びアドレス情報(位置情報)からなる。
 ディスク駆動系は図1に示していないが、クランプ機構及びディスク回転駆動用のモータを有し、光ディスク1をクランプ機構によって挟み込むように保持してそれをモータによって回転させる構造を備えている。
 光学系は更に記録再生光学系と、ガイド光学系とに分けられる。
 記録再生光学系は、光源11、コリメータレンズ12、ビームスプリッタ13、球面収差補正素子14、合成プリズム15、開口制限素子16、1/4波長板17、対物レンズ18、マルチレンズ19、及び光検出器20を備えている。
 光源11は波長405nmの記録再生用のレーザビーム(第1レーザビーム)、すなわち記録再生光を出射する半導体レーザ素子である。光源11から出射されるレーザビームはp偏光となるように調整されている。コリメータレンズ12は光源11によって出射されたレーザビームを平行光に変換してビームスプリッタ13に供給する。ビームスプリッタ13は偏光ビームスプリッタ(PBS)であり、コリメータレンズ12からのレーザビーム入射面に対して45度の分離面を有し、コリメータレンズ12から供給されたp偏光の平行レーザビームを分離面をそのまま通過させて球面収差補正素子14に供給する。
 球面収差補正素子14はケプラー型のエキスパンダレンズからなり、第1及び第2の補正レンズ14a,14bを備え、第1の補正レンズ14aはアクチュエータ14cによって駆動され、光軸方向(矢印A)に移動可能にされている。初期状態では平行光で入射したときに平行光で出射するようにレンズ間隔が調整されている。一方のレンズを光軸方向に移動させることで、出射するビームが拡散光あるいは収束光へと変化し、それにより対物レンズ18で集光したビームに対して球面収差を与えることができる。すなわち、第1の補正レンズ14aの位置を変更することにより第1及び第2の補正レンズ14a,14b間の距離が変化して光ディスク1の記録層毎の球面収差補正が可能にされている。この球面収差補正素子14に代わる球面収差補正手段としては、ガリレオ型のエキスパンダレンズや液晶素子がある。
 合成プリズム15にはダイクロイックプリズムが用いられる。これは合成面の反射・透過特性が光の波長により異なる光学素子で、記録再生用のレーザビームの波長である405nm付近の波長に対しては反射し、後述のガイド用のレーザビーム(第2レーザビーム)、すなわちガイド光の波長である660nm付近の波長に対しては透過となる特性を持っている。これにより記録再生用のレーザビームは反射して光ディスク1の方向へ向かうことになる。
 開口制限素子16及び1/4波長板17は合成プリズム15と対物レンズ18との間に配置されている。
 開口制限素子16はガイド光の開口を制限し、記録再生光に対しては何ら作用をしない。
 1/4波長板17はレーザビームが光ディスク1への往路と光ディスク1からの復路とで2度通過し、それによりビームの偏光の向きを90度変化させる。これはビームスプリッタ13の分離面への球面収差補正素子14側からの戻り記録再生光をs偏光にする。よって、復路のビームに対してビームスプリッタ13が反射の作用をすることとなる。このことは後述のガイド光学系のビームスプリッタ23における戻りガイド光についても同様である。また、1/4波長板17は広帯域のものが使用され、少なくとも光源11の出射ビーム波長と光源21の出射ビーム波長に対して1/4波長板として作用する。
 対物レンズ18はブルーレイディスク(登録商標)の光学系に用いられる対物レンズのように、開口数NA0.85で厚み0.1mmの光ディスク1のカバー層に対して最適化されている。球面収差補正素子14の第1及び第2の補正レンズ14a,14b間隔を初期状態として、対物レンズ18と光ディスク1の表面との距離(作動距離)を最適な値WD0としたときに、光ディスク1の表面から0.1mmの深さにある記録層に対して最も良好な集光スポットを形成することができる。また、対物レンズ18は光軸方向(矢印B)への移動を行うためのフォーカスアクチュエータ18aと、光軸に垂直な方向(矢印C)への移動を行うためのトラッキングアクチュエータ18bとを備え、フォーカス方向及びトラッキング方向への微動を電気的に制御することができるようになっている。
 光ディスク1のいずれかの記録層で反射した記録再生用のレーザビームは対物レンズ18、1/4波長板17、開口制限素子16、合成プリズム15、そして球面収差補正素子14を介して平行光のレーザビームとしてビームスプリッタ13に戻る。その反射レーザビームはs偏光となっているので、ビームスプリッタ13は反射レーザビームをその入射に対して分離面でほぼ90度の角度で反射してマルチレンズ19に供給する。マルチレンズ19は反射レーザビームを光検出器20の受光面に集光させてそこにスポットを形成させる。また、マルチレンズ19は片面が球面、もう片面がシリンドリカル面で構成される光学素子で、非点収差法のフォーカスサーボを行う際に用いられる。光検出器20は例えば、4分割の受光面を有し、分割面毎に受光強度に応じたレベルの電圧信号を生成する。
 光検出器20の出力電圧信号は図示しない再生処理回路に供給される。再生処理回路では、光検出器20の出力電圧信号から得られる読取信号(RF信号)に応じて記録情報の再生信号が生成される。また、光検出器26の出力電圧信号に基づいて、記録層からの記録再生光の集光スポットの焦点ずれを表す記録再生フォーカスエラー信号が後述の記録再生フォーカスエラー信号生成部33で得られる。
 ガイド光学系は、記録再生光学系に備えられた合成プリズム15、開口制限素子16、1/4波長板17、対物レンズ18を共用し、更に、光源21、コリメータレンズ22、ビームスプリッタ23、倍率変換素子24、マルチレンズ25、及び光検出器26を備えている。
 光源21は波長660nmのガイド用のレーザビームを出射する半導体レーザ素子である。コリメータレンズ22は光源21によって出射されたガイド用のレーザビームを平行光に変換してビームスプリッタ23に供給する。ビームスプリッタ23はビームスプリッタ13と同様に偏光ビームスプリッタ(PBS)であり、コリメータレンズ22から供給された平行レーザビームをそのまま倍率変換素子24に供給する。
 倍率変換素子24はガイド光の光軸方向の集光スポットの位置、すなわち焦点位置を移動させるために設けられている。一般的にレンズに入射するビームの拡散具合を変化(光学倍率の変化)させると、集光スポットの位置が光軸上で変化することを利用している。この実施例ではケプラー型エキスパンダが倍率変換素子として用いられている。記録再生光における球面収差補正素子14と同様に、ケプラー型エキスパンダのレンズ間隔を変化させることにより出射ビームの拡散/収束具合が変更される。すなわち、倍率変換素子24は第1及び第2の補正レンズ24a,24bを備え、第1の補正レンズ24aはアクチュエータ24cによって駆動され、光軸方向(矢印D)に移動可能にされている。
 合成プリズム15は倍率変換素子24からの波長660nmのガイド光を透過させると共に、記録再生光と同軸に合成して開口制限素子16へ供給する。
 開口制限素子16は、波長660nmのガイド光に対して図2に示すように開口径を所定の大きさD0に制限するものである。開口制限素子16の透過率は波長に対して図3に示すようになる。波長405nmの記録再生光に対しては透過、波長660nmのガイド光に対しては反射となる誘電体多層膜16aを、開口径D0の外側のみに形成した素子を用いることができる。波長405nmの光に対しては、開口径D0の内側も外側も共に透過状態となる。
 1/4波長板17は上記したようにビームスプリッタ23の分離面への倍率変換素子24側からの戻りガイド光をs偏光にする。
 対物レンズ18は1/4波長板17から入射されるガイド光に対しては光ディスク1内の位置に集光スポットを形成する。この集光スポットの位置は前述のように倍率変換素子24により光軸方向で調整することが可能であるので、作動距離WD0の状態でガイド層GLの深さに集光スポットが形成されるように、第1及び第2の補正レンズ24a,24bの間隔が調整される。
 例えば、光ディスク1のガイド層GLの深さを0.3mmとすると、対物レンズ18に入射する光は拡散光となる。対物レンズ18は波長405nmの光を平行光入射させ、カバー層厚み0.1mmとしたときに最高の集光性能が得られるように設計されたものであり、波長660nmの光を拡散光で入射させ、光ディスク1の深さ0.3mmのカバー層を隔てて集光スポットを形成させようとすれば、大きな球面収差が発生することになる。開口制限素子16により、ガイド光の開口数を小さく制限することで、球面収差を小さく抑えることができる。例えば、この実施例では記録再生光のNAを0.85としているが、ガイド光のNAは0.6程度にするのが望ましい。
 光ディスク1のガイド層GLで反射したガイド用のレーザビームは対物レンズ18、1/4波長板17、開口制限素子16、合成プリズム15、そして倍率変換素子24を介して平行光のレーザビームとしてビームスプリッタ23に戻る。その反射レーザビームはs偏光となっているので、ビームスプリッタ23は反射レーザビームをその入射に対して分離面でほぼ90度の角度で反射してマルチレンズ25に供給する。マルチレンズ25は反射レーザビームを光検出器26の受光面に集光させてそこに集光スポットを形成させる。
 光検出器26は例えば、4分割の受光面を有し、分割面毎に受光強度に応じたレベルの電圧信号を生成する。光検出器26の出力電圧信号に基づいて、ガイド層GLからの集光スポットの焦点ずれを表すガイドフォーカスエラー信号と、ガイドトラックからのずれを表すガイドトラッキングエラー信号と、読取信号であるRF信号が得られる。ガイドフォーカスエラー信号は後述のガイドフォーカスエラー信号生成部34で得られ、ガイドトラッキングエラー信号は後述のガイドトラッキングエラー信号生成部35で得られる。更に、RF信号は図示しないRF信号生成部において得られる。
 なお、上記の光学系は図示しない移送駆動部によって光ディスク1の半径方向に移動可能にされている。
 信号処理系は、記録再生光源駆動部31、ガイド光源駆動部32、記録再生フォーカスエラー信号生成部33、ガイドフォーカスエラー信号生成部34、ガイドトラッキングエラー生成部35、フォーカス制御部36、トラッキング制御部37、エキスパンダ制御部38,39、及びメインコントローラ40を備えている。
 記録再生光源駆動部31はメインコントローラ40から供給される指令に応じて光源11を発光駆動する。ガイド光源駆動部32はメインコントローラ40から供給される指令に応じて光源21を発光駆動する。
 記録再生フォーカスエラー信号生成部33は光検出器20の出力電圧信号に応じて記録再生フォーカスエラー信号(第1フォーカスエラー信号)を生成する。そのフォーカスエラー信号の生成のためには例えば、非点収差法等の公知の信号生成方法を用いることができる。記録再生フォーカスエラー信号生成部33の出力にはフォーカス制御部36(第1フォーカス制御手段)が接続されている。フォーカス制御部36はフォーカスエラー信号に応じて対物レンズ18によるフォーカシングの制御のためにフォーカスアクチュエータ18aにフォーカシング駆動信号を供給する。フォーカシング駆動信号はフォーカスエラー信号がゼロレベルになるように生成される。
 ガイドフォーカスエラー信号生成部34は光検出器26の出力電圧信号に応じてガイドフォーカスエラー信号(第2フォーカスエラー信号)を生成する。そのフォーカスエラー信号の生成のためには例えば、非点収差法等の公知の信号生成方法を用いることができる。
 ガイドトラッキングエラー生成部35は光検出器26の出力電圧信号に応じてガイドトラッキングエラー信号を生成する。ガイドトラッキングエラー信号はガイド用のレーザビームのガイド層GLへの集光スポット位置のガイドトラック中心からの誤差を示す信号である。ガイドトラッキングエラー生成部35の出力にはトラッキング制御部37が接続されている。トラッキング制御部37はトラッキングサーボ制御を行い、ガイドトラッキングエラー生成部35によって生成されたガイドトラッキングエラー信号を入力し、対物レンズ18によるトラッキング部分の制御のためにトラッキングアクチュエータ18bに対してトラッキング駆動信号を供給する。トラッキング駆動信号はガイドトラッキングエラー信号がゼロレベルになるように生成される。
 エキスパンダ制御部38はメインコントローラ40から供給される指令に応じて球面収差補正素子14のアクチュエータ14cを駆動する。メインコントローラ40はエキスパンダ制御部38に対して記録又は再生される記録層について補正レンズ14aを最適な位置に、すなわち球面収差を最小にする位置にする情報を供給する。例えば、メインコントローラ40においては各記録層に対応した補正レンズ14aの最適な位置がメモリ(図示せず)に予め記憶されており、記録又は再生のための目標の記録層が決定されるとその記録層に対応した補正レンズ14aの位置の情報がメモリから読み出されてその位置への補正レンズ14aの移動がエキスパンダ制御部38に対して指令される。
 エキスパンダ制御部39はガイドフォーカスエラー信号生成部34の出力に接続され、メインコントローラ40から供給される指令に応じて倍率変換素子24のアクチュエータ24cを駆動する第2フォーカス制御手段である。エキスパンダ制御部39はガイドフォーカスエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにアクチュエータ24cを駆動し、これにより補正レンズ24aの位置が最適になるように調整される。
 メインコントローラ40は、エキスパンダ制御部38,39の制御と共に、上記のフォーカス制御部36によるフォーカスサーボ制御のオンオフ及びトラッキング制御部37によるトラッキングサーボ制御のオンオフを制御する。
 また、メインコントローラ40は記録再生光源駆動部31の駆動パワーを制御する。動作モードには光ディスク1に情報を記録する記録モードと、光ディスク1に記録された情報を再生する再生モードとがあり、記録モード時の駆動パワー(記録用パワー)は再生モード時の再生用パワーよりも大きくされる。
 かかる構成の光ディスクドライブ装置においては、情報を光ディスク1に記録する場合には図示しない操作部からの記録指令がメインコントローラ40に供給される。
 メインコントローラ40は記録指令に応じて記録動作を開始し、図4に示すように、先ず、光ディスク1を上記したディスク駆動部により回転駆動させ(ステップS1)、記録再生光源駆動部31及びガイド光源駆動部32に対して再生モードでの発光駆動指令を発生する(ステップS2)。記録再生光源駆動部31は光源11を再生用パワーにて駆動して再生用のレーザビームを発射させ、ガイド光源駆動部32は光源21を駆動してガイド用のレーザビームを発射させる。なお、ステップS1及びS2は既に光ディスク1が回転駆動され、光源11及び21が発光駆動されている場合には省略される。
 メインコントローラ40は、球面収差補正素子14の補正レンズ14aの位置を光ディスク1の最も奥の記録層L0の記録再生に適した位置にするようにエキスパンダ制御部38に対して指令し(ステップS3)、記録再生光のフォーカスサーボ制御のオンをフォーカス制御部36に指令する(ステップS4)。フォーカスサーボ制御のオンにより、記録再生光学系、フォーカスエラー生成部33、フォーカス制御部36及びフォーカスアクチュエータ18aからなるフォーカスサーボループが形成されるので、フォーカス制御部36は記録再生フォーカスエラー信号生成部33によって生成されるフォーカスエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにフォーカシング駆動信号を生成し、対物レンズ18の光軸方向における位置が制御される。これにより記録再生用のレーザビームの集光スポット、すなわち記録再生光の焦点が光ディスク1の最奥の記録層L0上に位置するようにされる。
 次に、メインコントローラ40は、ガイド光の焦点がガイド層GL上に位置するようにエキスパンダ制御部39に対して指令する(ステップS5)。ステップS5ではエキスパンダ制御部39は先ず、アクチュエータ24cを駆動して補正レンズ24aの位置を移動させる。補正レンズ24aを移動させることでガイド光の焦点が走査される。このとき、ガイド光の焦点がガイド層を横切る際に補正レンズ24aの位置に対してガイドフォーカスエラー信号生成部34によって生成されたガイドフォーカスエラー信号は図13に示すように変化する。ガイドフォーカスエラー信号がキャプチャレンジ内ならばガイド光の焦点がガイド層付近に位置していることを特定することができる。
 ここで、ガイド光のフォーカスサーボをオンとし、ガイドフォーカスエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにアクチュエータ24cを駆動する。これにより補正レンズ24aの位置が最適になるように調整されるので、ガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポット、すなわちガイド光の焦点が光ディスク1のガイド層GLに位置するようになる。
 メインコントローラ40は、ガイド層GLの所定のトラック(例えば、最内周トラック)にガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットが位置するように上記の移送駆動部を制御し(ステップS6)、そして、トラッキングサーボ制御のオンをトラッキング制御部37に指令する(ステップS7)。トラッキングサーボ制御のオンにより、ガイド光学系、ガイドトラッキングエラー生成部35、トラッキング制御部37及びトラッキングアクチュエータ18bからなるトラッキングサーボループが形成されるので、トラッキング制御部37はガイドトラッキングエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにトラッキング駆動信号を生成し、対物レンズ18の半径方向における位置が制御される。ガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットが光ディスク1のガイド層GLのガイドトラック上に位置する。ガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットの位置が定まると、ガイド光による読取信号であるRF信号からガイド層GLに記録された上記のアドレス情報、記録層数等のディスク情報を読み取る(ステップS8)。
 その後、メインコントローラ40は、記録モードへの切り替えが記録再生光源駆動部32に対して指令され(ステップS9)、ステップS8で得られたディスク情報に基づいて記録層L0への記録が開始される(ステップS10)。記録モードでは記録再生光源駆動部32の光源11に対する駆動パワーが再生用パワーより大きな記録用パワーとされ、記録されるべき情報に応じて光源11が駆動されることにより、変調された記録用のレーザビームの集光スポットが記録層L0上に位置される。その記録用のレーザビームの集光スポットはガイド層GLのガイドトラックに追従して記録層L0上を移動するので、記録トラックが形成されることになる。
 このように、記録再生光の集光スポットが目標の記録層L0上にあり、ガイド光の集光スポットがガイド層GLのガイドトラックを追従する状態となった後に、記録層L0に対する記録が行われる。ガイド光の集光スポットと、記録再生光の集光スポットは常に同軸上にあるため、この状態で光源11の記録信号に応じた変調を行うことで、記録層L0にガイドトラックに沿った情報ピット列からなる記録トラックを形成することが可能となる。
 記録層L0以外の記録層L1又はL2を目標記録層として記録を直接開始する際も上記の動作と同様にして実行することができる。
 よって、光ディスク1のいずれか1つの記録層への記録動作においては対物レンズ18の制御で記録再生光による1つの記録層へのフォーカシングを行い、更に倍率変換素子24の制御でガイド光によるガイド層GLへのフォーカシングを行うので、その記録層へのフォーカシングが精度よくかつ安定して行われることになる。すなわち、ガイド光よりも記録再生光による微小の集光スポットを用いているため記録時には精度や安定性が要求される記録層へのフォーカスの追従動作に、高精度で安定した対物レンズ18の制御を用いることができるという利点がある。
 1つの記録層への記録を終了すると、別の記録層に移動して記録が実行される。記録層から隣接する記録層へと移動する手順は、一般的な2層光ディスクにおけるフォーカスジャンプの手順と同様に、(1)フォーカスサーボ制御をオフとし、(2)対物レンズ18のフォーカスアクチュエータ18aを駆動して対物レンズ18をジャンプ方向へ移動し、(3)フォーカスエラー信号をモニターして次のゼロクロス点付近に来たらフォーカスサーボ制御をオンとするという手順で行えば良い。
 記録層L0から隣接の記録層L1に移動する際には、図5(a)に示すように記録層L0を記録再生光が追従している状態において、先ず、上記(1)のフォーカスサーボ制御のオフが実行される。次いで、図5(b)に示すように上記(2)の対物レンズ18のジャンプ方向への移動が実行され、その結果、記録再生光の集光スポットが記録層L1付近に位置される。そして、上記の(3)のフォーカスサーボ制御のオンが実行される。ガイド光はガイド層GLの手前に焦点を結んだ状態となるが、ガイド光のフォーカスサーボが動作している状態であれば、ガイド光の集光スポットがガイド層GLを追従するようにガイド光の拡散具合を制御しているので、 図5(c)に示すようにガイド層GL上に集光スポットが位置する状態に倍率変換素子24の補正レンズ24aの位置が制御される。このとき補正レンズ24aの位置は補正レンズ24bにより近づく方向に制御される。
 光ディスク1に記録された情報の再生を行う際には、トラッキングサーボの制御方法として2つの方法がある。一方は記録時と同様にガイド層GLのトラックをガイド光で追従する方法であり、他方は記録された記録層のマーク列(ピット列)に記録再生光を追従させる方法である。光ディスク1の傾きによりガイドトラックと記録マーク列がずれている可能性を考慮すると、記録マーク列に直接追従する方法が望ましい。
 このときガイド光及びガイド光学系は使用する必要が無く、記録再生光学系のみが使用される。記録時と同様にして記録層からの反射光を光検出器20で受光し、そこから再生信号及びフォーカスエラー信号、トラッキングエラー信号を得る。フォーカスエラー信号に基づき記録再生光の集光スポットが記録層上を追従するように対物レンズ18の光軸方向の位置が制御され、トラッキングエラー信号に基づき集光スポットが記録マーク列を追従するように対物レンズ18のトラッキング方向の位置が制御される。このとき再生信号の振幅が最大となるように球面収差補正素子14が制御される。
 図6は記録動作の変形例を示している。図6の記録動作においてメインコントローラ40は、光ディスク1を上記したディスク駆動部により回転駆動させ(ステップS11)、記録再生光源駆動部31及びガイド光源駆動部32に対して再生モードでの発光駆動指令を発生し(ステップS12)、球面収差補正素子14の補正レンズ14aの位置を光ディスク1の最奥の記録層L0の記録再生に適した位置にするようにエキスパンダ制御部38に対して指令し(ステップS13)、記録再生光のフォーカスサーボ制御のオンをフォーカス制御部36に指令する(ステップS14)。このステップS11~S14は図4の記録動作のステップS1~S4と同一である。
 次に、メインコントローラ40は、倍率変換素子24の補正レンズ24aの位置を光ディスク1の最奥の記録層L0の記録再生に最適な位置にするようにエキスパンダ制御部39に対して指令し(ステップS15)、光検出器26の出力信号に基づいて得られるRF信号の振幅が所定の大きさ以上であるか否かを判別する(ステップS16)。RF信号の振幅が所定の大きさより小であるときには記録再生光のフォーカスジャンプをフォーカス制御部36に指令する(ステップS17)。ステップS16のRF信号の振幅が所定の大きさに満たない場合にはステップS17の指令に応じてフォーカス制御部36が対物レンズ18を光軸方向に所定量だけ移動させることにより記録再生光のフォーカスジャンプが実行される。その記録再生光のフォーカスジャンプはRF信号の振幅が所定の大きさ以上になるまで繰り返される。
 ステップS16のRF信号の振幅が所定の大きさ以上になると、ステップS18~S23が実行される。ステップS18~S23は図4の記録動作のステップS5~S10と同一である。
 ガイド光側の補正レンズ24aを移動させることでガイド光の集光スポットの位置を光軸方向に移動させることができる。従って、対物レンズ18と光ディスク1との作動距離WDが変化した場合でも、補正レンズ24aの移動によりガイド光の集光スポットを光ディスク1のガイド層GL上に位置させることができる。逆に、作動距離WDが所定の固定値となっているときには、補正レンズ24aは常に決まった位置にあることになる。記録再生光学系の補正レンズ14aが所定の位置にあり、記録再生光の焦点が記録層L0に位置しているとき、作動距離WDは所定値WD0となり、その状態でガイド光の集光スポットがガイド層GL上に位置するための補正レンズ24aの位置も所定の位置となる。このときの補正レンズ24aの位置が、上記した記録層L0の記録再生に最適な補正レンズ24aの位置である。このステップS15では、補正レンズ24aの位置をこのような予め定められた位置に設定する。
 よって、ステップS14において記録再生光の焦点が記録層L0に位置していれば、ガイド光の集光スポットもガイド層GL上に位置していることになり、ガイド光によって読み取られるRF信号の振幅は十分大きな値となる。しかしながら、記録再生光の焦点が記録層L0以外の別の記録層に位置している状態では、作動距離WDの値は所定値WD0とはならず、ガイド光の集光スポットの位置はガイド層GLからデフォーカスした状態となり、ガイド光が再生するRF信号の振幅は小さくなる。すなわち、ガイド光によって読み取られるRF信号の振幅が所定の大きさ以上となった状態が、記録再生光の焦点が記録層L0に位置した状態となる。ステップS17により記録再生光の記録層L0側へのフォーカスジャンプを繰り返し、ステップS16でガイド光のRF信号の振幅がこの状態となる位置を探すことにより、記録再生光の焦点位置を確実に記録層L0とすることができる。
 図7は更に記録動作の変形例を示している。図7の記録動作においてメインコントローラ40は、光ディスク1を上記したディスク駆動部により回転駆動させ(ステップS31)、記録再生光源駆動部31及びガイド光源駆動部32に対して再生モードでの発光駆動指令を発生し(ステップS32)、球面収差補正素子14の補正レンズ14aの位置を光ディスク1のガイド層GLの再生に適した位置にするようにエキスパンダ制御部38に対して指令し(ステップS33)、記録再生光のフォーカスサーボ制御のオンをフォーカス制御部36に指令する(ステップS34)。このステップS31及びS32は図4の記録動作のステップS1及びS2と同一である。ステップS33及びS34の実行により記録再生光の焦点はガイド層GLに位置する。
 次に、メインコントローラ40は、ガイド光の焦点がガイド層GLに位置するようにエキスパンダ制御部39に対して指令する(ステップS35)。ステップS35ではエキスパンダ制御部39はアクチュエータ24cを駆動して補正レンズ24aの位置を移動させる。このとき補正レンズ24aの位置に応じて図13に示すようなガイドフォーカスエラー信号が得られる。ガイドフォーカスエラー信号がキャプチャレンジ内のゼロクロス点付近となるように補正レンズ24aの位置を制御することで、ガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットの位置はガイド層付近に位置することになる。そして、メインコントローラ40は、ガイド層GLの所定のトラック(例えば、最内周トラック)にガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットが位置するように上記の移送駆動部を制御する(ステップS36)。このときガイド光によるフォーカスサーボ制御はオフであるが、記録再生光のフォーカス制御により対物レンズとガイド層が一定の間隔に制御された状態であるので、この状態でガイド光の集光スポットもガイド層GL上を追従することになる。その後、トラッキングサーボ制御のオンをトラッキング制御部37に指令する(ステップS37)。ガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットの位置が定まると、ガイド光による読取信号であるRF信号からガイド層GLに記録されたアドレス情報、記録層数等のディスク情報を読み取る(ステップS38)。
 メインコントローラ40は、エキスパンダ制御部39に対してガイドフォーカスサーボ制御のオンを指令する(ステップS39)。ステップS39ではエキスパンダ制御部39はガイドフォーカスエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにアクチュエータ24cを駆動するので、補正レンズ24aの位置が調整され、ガイド光学系だけでもガイド光がガイド層GLを追従する状態となり、記録再生光の焦点位置がガイド層GLから記録層に移動したとしても、ガイド光の焦点はガイド層GLに位置し続けることができる。よって、メインコントローラ40は、次に、記録再生光の記録層L0へのフォーカスジャンプをフォーカス制御部36に指令する(ステップS40)。そして、記録モードへの切り替えを記録再生光源駆動部32に対して指令し(ステップS41)、ステップS38で読み取ったディスク情報に基づいて、記録再生光を変調して記録層L0に記録を行う(ステップS42)。
 このように図7の記録動作によれば、記録再生光の焦点を光ディスク1のガイド層GLに一旦位置させる。ガイド層が記録層の端に位置していたり、ガイド層と記録層の間隔が記録層同士の間隔よりも広く設定されている場合には、特定の記録層に記録再生光の焦点を定めるよりも、ガイド層に焦点を定める方が確実な場合があるからである。更に、記録層L0はガイド層GLの隣に位置しているので、記録再生光の焦点のガイド層GLから記録層L0への移動も確実に行うことができる。
 なお、ステップS39のガイド光のフォーカスサーボを、ステップS38のガイド層GLからのディスク情報の読み取りを行う前の段階で実行しても良い。
 図8は本発明が適用された多層光ディスク記録再生装置の他の構成を示している。この多層光ディスク記録再生装置においては、光検出器20には記録再生フォーカスエラー信号生成部33と共に記録再生トラッキングエラー信号生成部41が接続されている。記録再生トラッキングエラー信号生成部41は光検出器20の出力電圧信号に応じて記録再生トラッキングエラー信号を生成する。記録再生トラッキングエラー信号は記録再生用のレーザビームのガイド層GL又は記録層への集光スポット位置のガイドトラック中心からの誤差を示す信号である。また、その記録再生トラッキングエラー信号はトラッキング制御部37に供給される。トラッキング制御部37はメインコントローラ40の指令に応じてトラッキングサーボ制御時にガイドトラッキングエラー信号生成部35からのガイドトラッキングエラー信号と記録再生トラッキングエラー信号生成部41からの記録再生トラッキングエラー信号とのいずれか一方を選択的に用いる。その他の構成は図1の多層光ディスク記録再生装置と同様である。
 図8の多層光ディスク記録再生装置の記録動作においては、図9に示すように、メインコントローラ40が光ディスク1を上記したディスク駆動部により回転駆動させ(ステップS51)、記録再生光源駆動部31及びガイド光源駆動部32に対して再生モードでの発光駆動指令を発生し(ステップS52)、球面収差補正素子14の補正レンズ14aの位置を光ディスク1のガイド層GLの再生に適した位置にするようにエキスパンダ制御部38に対して指令し(ステップS53)、記録再生光のフォーカスサーボ制御のオンをフォーカス制御部36に指令する(ステップS54)。このステップS51~S34は図7の記録動作のステップS31~S34と同一である。ステップS53及びS54の実行により記録再生光の焦点はガイド層GLに位置する。
 次に、メインコントローラ40はガイド層GLの所定のトラック(例えば、最内周トラック)に記録再生用のレーザビームの集光スポットが位置するように上記の移送駆動部を制御し(ステップS55)、記録再生トラッキングサーボ制御のオンをトラッキング制御部37に指令する(ステップS56)。記録再生トラッキングサーボ制御のオンにより、記録再生光学系、記録再生トラッキングエラー生成部41、トラッキング制御部37及びトラッキングアクチュエータ18bからなるトラッキングサーボループが形成されるので、トラッキング制御部37は記録再生トラッキングエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにトラッキング駆動信号を生成し、対物レンズ18の半径方向における位置が制御される。この制御の結果、記録再生用のレーザビームの集光スポットが光ディスク1のガイド層GLのガイドトラック上に位置する。記録再生用のレーザビームの集光スポットの位置が定まると、記録再生光による読取信号であるRF信号からガイド層GLに記録された上記のアドレス情報、記録層数等のディスク情報を読み取る(ステップS57)。
 メインコントローラ40は、ステップS57の実行後、ガイド光の焦点がガイド層GLに位置するようにエキスパンダ制御部39に対して指令する(ステップS58)。ステップS58ではエキスパンダ制御部39はアクチュエータ24cを駆動して補正レンズ24aの位置を移動させる。そして、メインコントローラ40は、エキスパンダ制御部39に対してガイドフォーカスサーボ制御のオンを指令する(ステップS59)。ステップS59ではエキスパンダ制御部39はガイドフォーカスエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにアクチュエータ24cを駆動するので、補正レンズ24aの位置が調整され、ガイド光学系だけでもガイド光の焦点がガイド層GLを追従する状態となる。
 メインコントローラ40は、ステップS59の実行後、ガイドトラッキングサーボ制御のオンをトラッキング制御部37に指令する(ステップS60)。ガイドトラッキングサーボ制御のオンにより、記録再生トラッキングサーボ制御がオフとなり、ガイド光学系、ガイドトラッキングエラー生成部35、トラッキング制御部37及びトラッキングアクチュエータ18bからなるトラッキングサーボループが形成されるので、トラッキング制御部37はガイドトラッキングエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにトラッキング駆動信号を生成し、対物レンズ18の半径方向における位置が制御される。この制御の結果、ガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットが光ディスク1のガイド層GLのガイドトラック上に位置する。
 次いで、メインコントローラ40は、記録再生光の記録層L0へのフォーカスジャンプをフォーカス制御部36に指令する(ステップS61)。そして、記録モードへの切り替えを記録再生光源駆動部32に対して指令し(ステップS62)、ステップS57で読み取ったディスク情報に基づいて、記録再生光を変調して記録層L0に記録を行う(ステップS63)。
 このように図9の記録動作によれば、先ず、記録再生光の焦点を光ディスク1のガイド層GLに一旦位置させ、更に記録再生光によるガイド層への対物レンズ駆動のトラッキングサーボ制御を行うので、記録再生光によりガイド層に記録されたディスク情報を早い段階で読み取ることができる。ディスク情報の読取後、ガイド光によるガイド層への対物レンズ駆動のトラッキングサーボ制御に切り替えるので、ディスク情報に基づいて記録再生光の焦点のガイド層から記録層L0へのフォーカスジャンプ移動も確実に行うことができる。
 図10は本発明が適用された多層光ディスク記録再生装置の他の構成を更に示している。この多層光ディスク記録再生装置においては、ガイドフォーカスエラー信号生成部34の出力信号はエキスパンダ制御部39と共にフォーカス制御部36に供給される。フォーカス制御部36はメインコントローラ40の指令に応じてフォーカスサーボ制御時にガイドフォーカスエラー信号生成部34からのガイドフォーカスエラー信号と記録再生フォーカスエラー信号生成部33からの記録再生フォーカスエラー信号とのいずれか一方を選択的に用いる。ガイドフォーカスエラー信号によるフォーカスサーボ制御としては例えば非点収差法が用いられる。その他の構成は図1の多層光ディスク記録再生装置と同様である。
 図10の多層光ディスク記録再生装置の記録動作においては、図11に示すように、メインコントローラ40が光ディスク1を上記したディスク駆動部により回転駆動させ(ステップS71)、記録再生光源駆動部31及びガイド光源駆動部32に対して再生モードでの発光駆動指令を発生し(ステップS72)、ガイド光のフォーカスサーボ制御のオンをフォーカス制御部36に指令する(ステップS73)。ガイド光のフォーカスサーボ制御のオンにより、ガイド光学系、フォーカスエラー生成部34、フォーカス制御部36及びフォーカスアクチュエータ18aからなるフォーカスサーボループが形成されるので、フォーカス制御部36はガイドフォーカスエラー信号生成部34によって生成されるフォーカスエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにフォーカシング駆動信号を生成し、対物レンズ18の光軸方向における位置が制御される。これによりガイド光の焦点が光ディスク1のガイド層GLに位置するようにされる。
 ガイド光のフォーカスサーボ制御の実行中に、メインコントローラ40は倍率変換素子24の補正レンズ24aの位置をガイド光の球面収差を最適化するように移動させるようにエキスパンダ制御部39に対して指令する(ステップS74)。ステップS74の指令により倍率変換素子24は球面収差補正素子として用いられ、補正レンズ24aの位置がガイドフォーカスエラー信号の振幅が最大になる位置に移動される。更に、ガイド層GLの所定のトラック(例えば、最内周トラック)にガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットが位置するように上記の移送駆動部を制御し(ステップS75)、そして、トラッキングサーボ制御のオンをトラッキング制御部37に指令する(ステップS76)。トラッキングサーボ制御のオンにより、ガイド光学系、ガイドトラッキングエラー生成部35、トラッキング制御部37及びトラッキングアクチュエータ18bからなるトラッキングサーボループが形成されるので、トラッキング制御部37はガイドトラッキングエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにトラッキング駆動信号を生成し、対物レンズ18の半径方向における位置が制御される。ガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットが光ディスク1のガイド層GLのガイドトラック上に位置する。ガイド用のレーザビームの集光スポットの位置が定まると、ガイド光による読取信号であるRF信号からガイド層GLに記録された上記のアドレス情報、記録層数等のディスク情報を読み取る(ステップS77)。
 次に、メインコントローラ40は倍率変換素子24の補正レンズ24aの位置の移動をエキスパンダ制御部39に対して指令する(ステップS78)。このステップS78では記録再生光が記録層L0に合焦するために最適な値に作動距離WDがなるように補正レンズ24aの位置が定められる。作動距離WDはステップS74の実行によりガイド光がガイド層GLに合焦するために最適な値となっているので、ステップS78では記録再生光が記録層L0に合焦するために最適な値に変更することが行われる。すなわち、補正レンズ24aの位置が移動することにより対物レンズ18に入射するガイド光の拡散状態が変化しても、ガイド光のフォーカスサーボ制御がガイド光のガイド層GLへのフォーカス状態を維持させるために対物レンズ18の光軸方向の位置を変化させるので、作動距離WDは記録再生光が記録層L0に合焦するために適切な値になる。
 メインコントローラ40は、ステップS78の実行後、記録再生光の焦点が記録層L0付近に位置するように球面収差補正素子14の補正レンズ14aの移動をエキスパンダ制御部38に指令する(ステップS79)。ステップS79の実行により、先ず、記録再生光の焦点がガイド層GLとガイド層GLに最も近い記録層L0との間に位置するようにエキスパンダ制御部38が補正レンズ14aを移動させる。補正レンズ14aを移動させることで記録再生光の焦点が走査される。このとき、記録再生光の焦点が記録層を横切る際に補正レンズ14aの位置に対して記録再生フォーカスエラー信号は図12に示すように変化する。記録再生フォーカスエラー信号がキャプチャレンジ内ならば記録再生光の焦点が記録層L0付近に位置していることを特定することができる。また、記録層L0以外の他の記録層付近に位置していることも記録再生フォーカスエラー信号のゼロクロスを計数することにより特定することができる。記録層L0に対応する記録再生フォーカスエラー信号におけるキャプチャレンジ内のゼロクロスした点において、メインコントローラ40は、フォーカス制御部36に記録再生光のフォーカスサーボ制御のオンをフォーカス制御部36に指令する(ステップS80)。記録再生光のフォーカスサーボ制御のオンにより、ガイド光のフォーカスサーボ制御がオフとなり、記録再生光学系、フォーカスエラー生成部33、フォーカス制御部36及びフォーカスアクチュエータ18aからなるフォーカスサーボループが形成されるので、フォーカス制御部36は記録再生フォーカスエラー信号生成部33によって生成されるフォーカスエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにフォーカシング駆動信号を生成し、対物レンズ18の光軸方向における位置が制御される。これにより記録再生光の焦点が光ディスク1の記録層L0に位置するようにされる。
 更に、メインコントローラ40は、エキスパンダ制御部39に対してガイドフォーカスサーボ制御のオンを指令する(ステップS81)。ステップS81ではエキスパンダ制御部39はガイドフォーカスエラー信号がゼロレベルになるようにアクチュエータ24cを駆動するので、補正レンズ24aの位置が調整され、これによりガイド光の焦点がガイド層GLを追従する状態となる。そして、記録モードへの切り替えを記録再生光源駆動部32に対して指令し(ステップS82)、ステップS77で読み取ったディスク情報に基づいて、記録再生光を変調して記録層L0に記録を行う(ステップS83)。
 このように図11の記録動作によれば、先ず、ガイド光によるガイド層への対物レンズ駆動のフォーカスサーボ制御及びトラッキングサーボ制御を行うので、安定してフォーカスの引き込みを行うことができると共に、ガイド光によりガイド層に記録されたディスク情報を早い段階で読み取ることができる。更に、ガイド層にフォーカス制御した状態では、光ディスク1と対物レンズ18との距離が一定に保たれているので、記録再生光でフォーカス制御する記録層が特定し易くなる。よって、球面収差補正素子14の補正レンズ14aを光軸方向に移動して記録再生光の焦点をディスクの厚さ方向に走査して得られたフォーカスエラー信号を用いて記録再生光の焦点が通過した記録層の数を正確に数えることにより記録層L0等の目標記録層を容易に特定することができる。
 なお、上記した各実施例においては、光ディスクに複数の記録層が単一のガイド層と共に備えられているが、少なくとも1つの記録層がガイド層と離間して積層された光ディスクであれば良い。また、複数のガイド層を備えていても良い。また、光記録媒体としては実施例のように形状が円盤状のディスクではなく複数の記録層が積層された光メモリであっても良い。
 更に、上記した各実施例において図4、図6、図7、図9、及び図11に示した記録動作のステップ順については特に限定されることはなく、適宜変更しても良い。
 本発明は光ディスクドライブ装置だけでなく光ディスクドライブ装置を備えたハードディスク記録再生装置等の他の装置にも適用することができる。

Claims (11)

  1.  ガイドトラックが形成されたガイド層と記録層とが離間して積層されたガイド層分離型の光記録媒体の前記記録層に対して前記ガイドトラックに従って情報の光学的な記録を行う光記録媒体ドライブ装置であって、
     記録用の第1レーザビームを発生する第1光源と、
     ガイド用の第2レーザビームを発生する第2光源と、
     前記第1レーザビームと前記第2レーザビームとを合成して同軸に導く合成プリズムと、
     前記合成プリズムからの前記第1及び第2レーザビーム各々を前記光記録媒体に向けて集光させる対物レンズと、
     前記第1レーザビームの前記記録層からの反射光を検出する第1光検出手段と、
     前記第2レーザビームの前記ガイド層からの反射光を検出する第2光検出手段と、
     前記第2光源と前記合成プリズムとの間の前記第2レーザビームの光路上に配置され前記対物レンズに入射する前記第2レーザビームを拡散又は収束させる倍率変換素子と、
     前記第1光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて前記第1レーザビームの集光スポット位置と前記記録層との誤差を示す第1フォーカスエラー信号を生成する第1フォーカスエラー生成手段と、
     前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置と前記ガイド層との誤差を示す第2フォーカスエラー信号を生成する第2フォーカスエラー生成手段と、
     前記第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズをその光軸方向に制御する第1フォーカス制御手段と、
     前記第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記倍率変換素子による前記第2レーザビームの拡散又は収束の大きさを制御する第2フォーカス制御手段と、を備えることを特徴とする光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  2.  前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置と前記ガイド層のガイドトラックとの誤差を示すトラッキングエラー信号を生成するトラッキングエラー生成手段と、
     前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズをその光軸方向に垂直な方向に駆動制御するトラッキング制御手段と、
     前記第1光源と前記合成プリズムとの間の前記第1レーザビームの光路上に配置された球面収差補正素子と、
     前記球面収差補正素子による球面収差の補正状態を制御する球面収差制御手段と、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段、前記第2フォーカス制御手段、前記トラッキング制御手段及び前記球面収差制御手段各々に対して指令を発するメイン制御手段と、を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載の光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  3.  前記メイン制御手段は、前記球面収差制御手段により前記球面収差補正素子を前記記録層の再生に最適な補正状態に制御させ、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段に前記第1レーザビームの焦点が前記記録層上に位置するように前記第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの焦点が前記ガイド層に位置するように第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記倍率変換素子を制御させ、
     前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて記録媒体情報を読み取り、
     前記トラッキング制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置が前記ガイド層のガイドトラック上に位置するように前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第1レーザビームを変調して前記記録層への記録を開始させることを特徴とする請求項2記載の光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  4.  前記メイン制御手段は、前記球面収差制御手段により前記球面収差補正素子を前記記録層の再生に最適な補正状態に制御させ、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段に前記第1レーザビームの焦点が前記記録層上に位置するように前記第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段に前記倍率変換素子を前記記録層の再生に最適な補正状態に制御させ、
     前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいたRF信号の振幅が所定の大きさ以上となるまで前記第1フォーカス制御手段による前記対物レンズの制御により前記第1レーザビームの焦点をフォーカスジャンプさせ、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの焦点が前記ガイド層に位置するように第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記倍率変換素子を制御させ、
     前記トラッキング制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置が前記ガイド層のガイドトラック上に位置するように前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて記録媒体情報を読み取り、
     前記第1レーザビームを変調して前記記録層への記録を開始させることを特徴とする請求項2記載の光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  5.  前記メイン制御手段は、前記球面収差制御手段により前記球面収差補正素子を前記記録層の再生に最適な補正状態に制御させ、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段に前記第1レーザビームの焦点が前記ガイド層上に位置するように前記第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの焦点が前記ガイド層に位置するように前記倍率変換素子を制御させ、
     前記トラッキング制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置が前記ガイド層のガイドトラック上に位置するように前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの焦点がガイド層に位置するように第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記倍率変換素子を制御させ、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段による前記対物レンズの制御により前記第1レーザビームの焦点を前記記録層へフォーカスジャンプさせ、
     前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて記録媒体情報を読み取り、
     前記第1レーザビームを変調して前記記録層への記録を開始させることを特徴とする請求項2記載の光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  6.  前記第1光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて前記第1レーザビームの集光スポット位置と前記ガイド層のガイドトラックとの誤差を示す第1トラッキングエラー信号を生成する第1トラッキングエラー生成手段と、
     前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置と前記ガイド層のガイドトラックとの誤差を示す第2トラッキングエラー信号を生成する第2トラッキングエラー生成手段と、
     前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズをその光軸方向に垂直な方向に駆動制御するトラッキング制御手段と、
     前記第1光源と前記合成プリズムとの間の前記第1レーザビームの光路上に配置された球面収差補正素子と、
     前記球面収差補正素子による球面収差の補正状態を制御する球面収差制御手段と、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段、前記第2フォーカス制御手段、前記トラッキング制御手段及び前記球面収差制御手段各々に対して指令を発するメイン制御手段と、を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載の光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  7.  前記メイン制御手段は、前記球面収差制御手段により前記球面収差補正素子を前記ガイド層の再生に最適な補正状態に制御させ、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段による前記第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じた前記対物レンズの制御により前記第1レーザビームの焦点を前記ガイド層上に位置させ、
     前記トラッキング制御手段に前記第1レーザビームの集光スポット位置が前記ガイド層のガイドトラック上に位置するように前記第1トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第1光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて記録媒体情報を読み取る手段と、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの焦点が前記ガイド層に位置するように前記倍率変換素子を制御させ、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの焦点がガイド層に位置するように第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記倍率変換素子を制御させ、
     前記トラッキング制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置が前記ガイド層のガイドトラック上に位置するように前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段による前記対物レンズの制御により前記第1レーザビームの焦点を前記記録層へフォーカスジャンプさせ、
     前記第1レーザビームを変調して前記記録層への記録を開始させることを特徴とする請求項6記載の光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  8.  前記第1フォーカス制御手段は、前記第1フォーカスエラー信号又は前記第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズをその光軸方向に制御し、
     前記光記録媒体ドライブ装置は、
     前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置と前記ガイド層のガイドトラックとの誤差を示すトラッキングエラー信号を生成するトラッキングエラー生成手段と、
     前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズをその光軸方向に垂直な方向に駆動制御するトラッキング制御手段と、
     前記第1光源と前記合成プリズムとの間の前記第1レーザビームの光路上に配置された球面収差補正素子と、
     前記球面収差補正素子による球面収差の補正状態を制御する球面収差制御手段と、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段、前記第2フォーカス制御手段、前記トラッキング制御手段及び前記球面収差制御手段各々に対して指令を発するメイン制御手段と、を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載の光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  9.  前記メイン制御手段は、前記第1フォーカス制御手段により前記第2レーザビームの焦点が前記ガイド層上に位置するように前記第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段により前記第2レーザビームの球面収差を最適化するように前記倍率変換素子を制御させ、
     前記トラッキング制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置が前記ガイド層のガイドトラック上に位置するように前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて記録媒体情報を読み取り、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段に前記第1レーザビームによる前記記録層への記録に適した作動距離にするように前記倍率変換素子を制御させ、
     前記球面収差制御手段により前記第1レーザビームの焦点が前記記録層上付近に位置するように制御させ、
     前記第1フォーカス制御手段に前記第1レーザビームの焦点が前記記録層上に位置するように前記第2フォーカスエラー信号に代えて前記第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御させ、
     前記第2フォーカス制御手段に前記第2レーザビームの焦点がガイド層に位置するように第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記倍率変換素子を制御させ、
     前記第1レーザビームを変調して前記記録層への記録を開始させることを特徴とする請求項8記載の光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  10.  前記球面収差補正素子及び前記倍率変換素子は2つの光軸を同一とする補正レンズからなるケプラー型のエキスパンダレンズからなり、その2つの補正レンズの一方が光軸方向に移動可能にされていることを特徴とする請求項2、6、8のいずれか1記載の光記録媒体ドライブ装置。
  11.  ガイドトラックが形成されたガイド層と記録層とが離間して積層されたガイド層分離型の光記録媒体の前記記録層に対して前記ガイドトラックに従って情報の光学的な記録を行うために、
     記録用の第1レーザビームを発生する第1光源と、
     ガイド用の第2レーザビームを発生する第2光源と、
     前記第1レーザビームと前記第2レーザビームとを合成して同軸に導く合成プリズムと、
     前記合成プリズムからの前記第1及び第2レーザビーム各々を前記光記録媒体に向けて集光させる対物レンズと、
     前記第1レーザビームの前記記録層からの反射光を検出する第1光検出手段と、
     前記第2レーザビームの前記ガイド層からの反射光を検出する第2光検出手段と、
     前記第2光源と前記合成プリズムとの間の前記第2レーザビームの光路上に配置され前記対物レンズに入射する前記第2レーザビームを拡散又は収束させる倍率変換素子と、
     前記第1光源と前記合成プリズムとの間の前記第1レーザビームの光路上に配置された球面収差補正素子と、を備える光記録媒体ドライブ装置の記録方法であって、
     前記球面収差補正素子を前記記録層の再生に最適な補正状態に制御し、
     前記第1レーザビームの焦点が前記記録層上に位置するように前記第1フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御し、
     前記第2レーザビームの焦点が前記ガイド層に位置するように第2フォーカスエラー信号に応じて前記倍率変換素子を制御し、
     前記第2レーザビームの集光スポット位置が前記ガイド層のガイドトラック上に位置するように前記トラッキングエラー信号に応じて前記対物レンズを制御し、
     前記第2光検出手段の出力信号に基づいて記録媒体情報を読み取り、
     前記第1レーザビームを変調して前記記録層への記録を開始させることを特徴とする記録方法。
