Description

ネブライザ、および、ネブライザに着脱可能な機能ユニット
 本発明は、ネブライザ、および、ネブライザに着脱可能な機能ユニットに関し、特に、本体ユニットと霧化ユニットとが分離可能なネブライザ、および、このようなネブライザに着脱可能な機能ユニットに関する。
 従来より、本体ユニットと霧化ユニットとが分離可能なネブライザが市販されている(たとえば、出願人が製造販売しているメッシュ式ネブライザNE-U22)。このように、薬液タンクなどを含む霧化ユニットが本体ユニットと分離可能であるので、薬液が付着しやすい霧化ユニットの洗浄を容易にすることができる。
 上述のような本体ユニットと霧化ユニットとで構成されるネブライザは、薬液の霧化というネブライザの基本機能を実現する。
 一方で、このような基本機能に加え、たとえば噴霧状態を変更するといった付加的機能を搭載したネブライザも存在する。たとえば、患者の呼吸状態(呼気、吸気)を検知する呼気検知機能を有し、吸気の際にのみ噴霧することのできるネブライザが存在する。たとえば、WO2006/128567パンフレット(特許文献1)では、呼吸による吸入器内圧から噴霧ガス開口部を開閉する構造により呼吸を検知することが開示されている。また、特開平6-190044号公報(特許文献2)では、音により呼吸を検知することが開示されている。
 ところで、医療機器の分野では、従来より、特開2002-336281号公報(特許文献3)に示されるように、機能モジュール型の医療用診療機器が提案されている。当該診療機器は、表示部、操作部および電源部の少なくとも一つを含む共通機能部と、個別の診療機能を備えた機能モジュールを交換可能に接続するモジュール接続部とを備え、接続された機能モジュールの診療機能が共通機能部で利用できるようにされている。

 上述のような従来のネブライザでは、搭載されている機能が固定されていた。そのため、ユーザ(患者)ごとに、必要な機能が搭載されているネブライザを準備しなくてはならなかった。
 しかしながら、ユーザが、既にネブライザを保有していた場合、そのネブライザに搭載されている機能に加え、他の機能の追加が望まれたり、逆に、搭載されている機能の削除が望まれたりする場合がある。そのような場合、従来のネブライザでは、患者が必要とする機能の変更に対応することができなかった。
 また、特開2002-336281号公報(特許文献3)のように、ネブライザ以外の技術分野においては、個別の診療機能を備えた機能モジュールを交換可能な医療用診療機器(歯科用機器)が提案されている。しかし、ネブライザに特有の付加的機能すなわち、治療効果の高い仕様に変更したり、また/または、ユーザの状況に応じて最適化するための機能を追加したり取り除いたりすることのできるネブライザについては、何ら提案されていない。
 本発明は、上記のような問題を解決するためになされたものであって、その目的は、治療効果の高い仕様に変更したり、また/または、ユーザの状況に応じて最適化するための機能(付加的機能)をユーザ自身が容易に追加したり除いたりすることのできるネブライザを提供することである。
 この発明のある局面に従うネブライザは、薬液を噴霧するためのネブライザであって、第1および第2のユニットを備え、第1および第2のユニットは、分離可能であり、第1のユニットは、薬液を貯留するための貯留部と、貯留部内の薬液を霧化することにより、薬液を噴霧するための霧化部とを含み、第2のユニットは、霧化部を動作させる制御を行なうための制御部を含み、ネブライザの付加的機能を実現するための第3のユニットをさらに備え、第3のユニットは、第1のユニットと第2のユニットとの間に着脱可能である。
 好ましくは、第3のユニットは、制御部と霧化部とを電気的に接続するための中継部を含む。
 好ましくは、第3のユニットは、付加的機能として、霧化部による噴霧状態を変更する機能を実現する。
 好ましくは、第3のユニットは、ユーザの呼吸状態を検知するための検知部と、検知部による検知結果に応じて、吸気の場合にのみ、霧化部に薬液を霧化させるための霧化制御部とをさらに含む。
 好ましくは、霧化部は、薬液を霧化するために駆動される振動子を有し、第2のユニットは、制御部からの指示に応じて、振動子を振動させるための発振信号を出力する発振部をさらに含み、霧化制御部は、発振部が出力した発振信号を入力し、吸気の場合にのみ入力した発振信号を振動子に転送する。
 好ましくは、第3のユニットは、霧化部による単位時間当たりの噴霧量を調整するための調整部を有する。
 好ましくは、霧化部は、薬液を霧化するために駆動される振動子を有し、第2のユニットは、制御部からの指示に応じて、振動子を振動させるための発振信号を出力する発振部をさらに含み、調整部は、発振部が出力した発振信号の振幅または周波数を調整し、調整後の発振信号を振動子に転送する。
 好ましくは、第3のユニットは、単位時間当たりの噴霧量について、ユーザからの指示を受け付けるための操作部をさらに含む。
 好ましくは、第3のユニットは、付加的機能として、ネブライザの使用方法を変更する機能を実現する。
 この発明の他の局面に従う機能ユニットは、第1および第2のユニットを備えたネブライザに着脱可能な、ネブライザの付加的機能を実現するための機能ユニットであって、第1のユニットは、薬液を貯留するための貯留部と、貯留部内の薬液を霧化することにより、薬液を噴霧するための霧化部とを含み、第2のユニットは、霧化部を動作させる制御を行なうための制御部を含んでおり、制御部と霧化部とを電気的に接続するための中継部を備える。
 本発明によると、付加的機能を実現するための機能ユニットを第1のユニットと第2のユニットとの間に自由に着脱することができる。これにより、既存のネブライザに、治療効果の高い仕様に変更したり、また/または、ユーザの状況に応じて最適化するための機能(付加的機能)をユーザ自身がを容易に追加したり除いたりすることが可能となる。

 本発明の実施の形態について図面を参照しながら詳細に説明する。なお、図中同一または相当部分には同一符号を付してその説明は繰返さない。
 [実施の形態1]
 (概略について)
 はじめに、図1~図2を参照して、本実施の形態におけるネブライザ1000の概略について説明する。本実施の形態におけるネブライザ1000は、いわゆるメッシュ式であると想定する。
 ネブライザ1000は、本体ユニット1と、霧化ユニット2と、呼気検知ユニット3と、カバー部4とを備える。本体ユニット1および霧化ユニット2は、ネブライザの基本機能を実現し、呼気検知ユニット3は、付加的機能を実現する。
 本体ユニット1は、後に詳述するように、電源回路や制御回路を含んでいる。本体ユニット1の前面には、ネブライザ1000の電源のON/OFFを切替えるための電源スイッチ11が設けられている。また、上面には、異なる色を発光する2つのLED(Light Emitting Diode)12,13が設けられている。LED12は、緑色の光を出力し、LED13は、オレンジ色の光を出力する。たとえば、LED12は、電源がONされた場合に点灯され、LED13は、電池容量が少なくなった場合(バッテリーロー時)に点灯される。
 霧化ユニット2は、後に詳述するように、薬液を貯留するための薬液貯留部、薬液を霧化するための霧化部(メッシュおよび振動子)を含んでいる。霧化ユニット2は、その上部に、薬液を噴霧するための噴霧口240と、ユーザが開閉可能な開閉操作部241とが設けられている。開閉操作部241が開閉されることで、薬液を薬液貯留部に供給したり、薬液貯留部を洗浄し易くすることができる。なお、薬液の供給は噴霧口240を開閉することでも可能である。
 呼気検知ユニット3は、ユーザの呼吸の状態(呼気、吸気)を検知する。そして、吸気の場合にのみ霧化部による霧化を実行させる。本実施の形態では、たとえば圧力センサにより呼吸状態を検知する。呼気検知ユニット3は、その上部に、ハウジング300内の第1の管部321(図9等参照)へと繋がる第2の管部322が配置されている。また、呼気検知ユニット3の前面にも、LED31が設けられている。LED31は、たとえば、呼気検知ユニット3内の後述のボタン型電池350(図9等参照)の容量が少なくなったとき(バッテリーロー時)に点灯される。
 図1に示されるように、使用状態では、カバー部4によって、霧化ユニット2全体と呼気検知ユニット3の一部が覆われる。カバー部4は、呼吸検知や薬液の吸入を補助するための補助具であり、樹脂材料により一体に形成されている。カバー部4は、呼気検知ユニット3の側面に設けられた嵌め合わせ部320に嵌め込まれることで、呼気検知ユニット3に取付けられる。なお、カバー部4を呼気検知ユニット3に取付けた状態においては、カバー部4と呼気検知ユニット3との間には、パッキンが介在される。これにより、カバー部4内部の空間と外部とが気密に保たれる。
 カバー部4の上面の筒状部420(図11等参照)には、ユーザが口で咥えるためのマウスピース(吸入口)41が装着可能である。図1のような状態のネブライザ1000をユーザが手で持ち、若干手前に傾斜させて、カバー部4のマウスピース41を咥えるようにして使用する。ユーザが吸気することにより、霧化ユニット2の噴霧口240から噴霧される霧状の薬液が、筒状部420(図11等参照)およびマウスピース41を通過する。
 カバー部4の上面には、さらに、カバー部4内外の気体を通気させるための通気部42が配置されている。通気部42は、ネブライザ1000の後方に気体が排気されるように形成されている。
 図3を参照して、本体ユニット1、呼気検知ユニット3および霧化ユニット2は、互いに分離可能である。本実施の形態では、機能ユニットとしての呼気検知ユニット3が、本体ユニット1と霧化ユニット2との間に装着(挿入)されている。
 図2および図3に示されるように、霧化ユニット2および呼気検知ユニット3には、それぞれ、直下に位置するユニットとの接続状態を固定するための取付具230,330が設けられてもよい。ユーザが手動でこれらの取付具230,330を操作することにより、ユニット同士を接続したり分離したりすることができる。
 ユニット同士を電気的に接続可能にするために、ユニット同士の接続面には、接続端子(電極)等が設けられている。
 図4を参照して、本体ユニット1の上面(呼気検知ユニット3の下面との接続面)には、接続端子101,102が設けられる。また、呼気検知ユニット3の装着と位置決めを容易にするための凸部103が設けられている。
 図5を参照して、呼気検知ユニット3の下面(本体ユニット1との接続面)には、本体ユニット1の接続端子101,102それぞれと接触可能な接続端子311,312が設けられる。また、本体ユニット1の凸部103が嵌合可能な凹部313が設けられている。
 図6を参照して、呼気検知ユニット3の上面(霧化ユニット2との接続面)には、接続端子301,302が設けられる。また、霧化ユニット2の装着と位置決めを容易にするための凸部303が設けられている。
 接続端子301,302の形状は、本体ユニット1の接続端子101,102と同様である。また、凸部303の形状も、本体ユニット1の凸部103と同様である。
 図7を参照して、霧化ユニット2の下面(呼気検知ユニット3との接続面)には、呼気検知ユニット3の接続端子301,302それぞれと接触可能な接続端子211,212が設けられる。また、呼気検知ユニット3の凸部303が嵌合可能な凹部213が設けられている。
 接続端子211,212の形状は、呼気検知ユニット3の接続端子311,312と同様である。また、凹部213の形状も、呼気検知ユニット3の凹部313と同様である。
 (回路構成について)
 図8を参照して、本体ユニット1は、上記電源スイッチ11およびLED12,13に加え、電源回路14、CPU(Central Processing Unit)15および発振回路16を含む。
 電源回路14は、たとえば電池を含み、本体ユニット1内の各部に電力を供給する。CPU15は、各部を制御する。発振回路16は、CPU15からの制御信号に基づいて、発振信号を、呼気検知ユニット3(後述のスイッチ回路36)に出力する。
 本実施の形態では、発振信号は、たとえば、電源スイッチ11が押下されてから一定時間出力されるものとする。一定時間の計測は、図示しないタイマにより行なわれてよい。
 霧化ユニット2は、薬液を霧化するために駆動される振動子21を含む。振動子21は、発振信号に応じて振動する。
 呼気検知ユニット3は、上記LED31に加え、電源回路38と、圧力センサ33と、増幅回路34と、比較回路35と、スイッチ回路36と、擬似抵抗37とを含む。
 圧力センサ33は、呼吸に伴なう気圧を検出する。検出された圧力信号は、増幅回路34に出力される。増幅回路34は、圧力センサ33から出力された圧力信号を増幅する。増幅された圧力信号は比較回路35に出力される。比較回路35は、増幅回路34から出力された圧力信号の値(以下「圧力値」)と、予め定められた基準値とを比較し、その結果をスイッチ回路36に出力する。より具体的には、圧力値が基準値以上(呼気時)であれば、Low信号を出力し、圧力値が基準値未満(吸気時)であればHigh信号を出力する。
 スイッチ回路36は、たとえば、FET(Field effect transistor)により構成される。スイッチ回路36は、本体ユニット1の発振回路16が出力した発振信号を入力する。スイッチ回路36は、比較回路35からの信号(HighまたはLow)に応じて、入力された発振信号の出力先を選択する。
 具体的には、比較回路35からHigh信号が入力されると、出力先として霧化ユニット2(振動子21)が選択される。したがって、吸気時には、発振信号が振動子21に転送され、振動子21が振動する。これにより、噴霧口240から薬液が噴霧される。これに対し、比較回路35からLow信号が入力されると、出力先として擬似抵抗37が選択される。したがって、呼気時には、発振信号が振動子21に転送されないため、振動子21は振動せず、噴霧口240から薬液が噴霧されない。
 このように、呼気検知ユニット3は、ユーザの呼吸状態を検知するための構成(圧力センサ33など)と、吸気の場合にのみ、霧化部に薬液を霧化させるための構成(比較回路35,スイッチ回路36など)とを含む。したがって、ネブライザ1000によると、発振回路16が連続的に発振信号を出力したとしても、霧化ユニット2において断続的に(吸気時のみ)噴霧されることになる。その結果、薬液を効率良く噴霧することができる。
 呼気検知ユニット3の電源回路38には、たとえばボタン型電池350(図9)が含まれる。電源回路38から、圧力センサ33、増幅回路34および比較回路35に給電される。なお、本実施の形態では、呼気検知ユニット3にも電源回路38を設けることとしたが、本体ユニット1と接続された際に、本体ユニット1内の電源回路14から、呼気検知ユニット3内の各部に給電されてもよい。
 (各ユニットの内部構造について)
 図9(A)~(C)を参照して、霧化ユニット2と呼気検知ユニット3の内部構造の一例について説明する。図9(A)は、図3に示したIXA-IXA線に沿った霧化ユニット2の断面を示し、図9(B)は、図3に示したIXB-IXB線に沿った呼気検知ユニット3の断面を示している。また、図9(C)は、図3に示したIXC-IXC線に沿った本体ユニット1の断面を部分的に示している。
 なお、本体ユニット1の断面には接続端子101の断面が含まれているものとする。同様に、呼気検知ユニット3の断面には接続端子301,311の断面が含まれ、霧化ユニット2の断面には接続端子211の断面が含まれている。
 図9(A)を参照して、霧化ユニット2は、噴霧口240の直下に超音波メッシュ式の霧化機構を備えている。この超音波メッシュ式の霧化機構は、振動子(圧電素子)21、ステップホーン250、および、メッシュ252とからなる。メッシュ252は、多数の微細孔を有しており、その下面においてステップホーン250の一端と当接している。振動子21は、接続端子211から得られる発振信号により振動する。この振動がステップホーン250に伝搬されることで、ステップホーン250とメッシュ252との当接面において薬液が霧化される。霧化された薬液は、微細孔から噴霧口240に向かって勢いよく噴出す。
 噴霧口240の周縁には、液滴化した薬液や使用者のよだれを貯留するための液溜め部242が形成されている。この液溜め部242内に貯留された薬液やよだれは、その内側に位置するメッシュ252に混入しないように仕切り板244で隔てられている。
 さらに、霧化ユニット2の内部には、薬液を貯留するための薬液貯留部260が形成されている。薬液貯留部260内に貯留された薬液は、使用時に傾斜させられることで残らず霧化される。このため、薬液が装置内部に垂れ出さないようにOリング262により水密構造が施されている。
 霧化ユニット2の下部に形成された凹部213は、呼気検知ユニット3の凸部303に嵌合される。また、凹部213と凸部303が嵌合されると、接続端子211は、呼気検知ユニット3の接続端子301と接触し、これらは電気的に導通状態となる。
 図9(B)を参照して、呼気検知ユニット3は、接続端子301と電気的に接続された板金端子343、および、接続端子311と電気的に接続された板金端子342が設置されている。これらの板金端子342,343が、基板341と電気的に接続されているので、本体ユニット1と霧化ユニット2とを電気的に導通させることができる。このように、基板341および板金端子342,343は、本体ユニット1と霧化ユニット2とを電気的に接続するための中継部としての役割を果たす。
 呼気検知ユニット3は、さらに、上述の回路部(電源回路38、増幅回路34、比較回路35、スイッチ回路36の少なくとも一部)が組まれた基板344を含む。上記基板341から当該基板344には、図示しない電力線が接続されており、両基板341,344は、電気的に接続されているものとする。
 基板341,344および板金端子342,343は、ハウジング300に内蔵されている。
 ここで、図10をさらに参照しながら、ユーザの呼吸状態を検知するための呼気検知部の構成例について説明する。
 ハウジング300より突出して設けられた第2の管部322は、外部からの気体(ユーザの呼気)を取り込んだり、内部の気体を排出したりする。第2の管部322を通過した気体は、第1の管部321内へと流れ込み、基板344上に設けられた圧力センサ33へと導かれる。圧力センサ33は、第1の管部321内の気圧を検知することで、呼吸の状態を検知する。
 本実施の形態では、呼気検知部は、第1の管部321、第2の管部322および圧力センサ33を含む。なお、呼気検知部の構成は、このような形態に限定されない。
 図9(B),(C)を参照して、呼気検知ユニット3の下部に形成された凹部313は、本体ユニット1の凸部103に嵌合される。また、凹部313と凸部103が嵌合されると、接続端子311は、本体ユニット1の接続端子101と接触し、これらは導通状態となる。
 (使用時におけるネブライザの動作について)
 次に、図10、図11および図12の断面図、および、図13を参照して、使用時におけるネブライザ1000の動作について説明する。図11および図12は、図1に示したXI,XII-XI,XII線に沿ったネブライザ1000(本体ユニット1を除く)の断面を示している。なお、図11および図12の断面は、いずれも、図9(A),(B)に示した断面を含んでいる。
 図13を参照して、カバー部4の通気部42の下部には、外部からの気体の流入を防ぐための呼気弁421が設けられる。呼気弁421は、取付け部材422を介してカバー部4の通気部42の下部に取り付けられており、カバー部4内の気圧により開閉される。また、図13に示されるように、カバー部4の上部には、マウスピース41を装着するための筒状部420が設けられている。
 まず、図10および図11を参照して、呼気時(ユーザがマウスピース41を咥えた状態で息を吐いた場合)におけるネブライザ1000の動作について説明する。
 ユーザがマウスピース41を咥えた状態で息を吐くと、筒状部420から気体(息)がカバー部4の内部に流入する。そうすると、流入してきた気体は、図11中の矢印で示されるように、第1および第2の管部321,322により構成される空気経路に流れ込む。また、流入してきた気体は、呼気弁421を押し上げる。これにより、呼気弁421は開放状態となり、カバー部4内の気体は、呼気弁421および通気部42を通って、外部へと流れ出る。
 このような呼気時には、空気経路に気体が流れ込むため、圧力センサ33は基準電圧より高い電圧を出力する。したがって、比較回路35の出力はLow信号である。このような場合、発振信号は擬似抵抗37に出力される。そのため、発振信号は、接続端子301(302)まで到達せず、振動子21は振動しない。したがって、呼気時においては、薬液貯留部260内の薬液は噴霧されない。
 次に、図10および図12を参照して、吸気時(ユーザがマウスピース41を咥えた状態で息を吸った場合)におけるネブライザ1000の動作について説明する。
 ユーザがマウスピース41を咥えた状態で息を吸うと、呼気弁421が閉じられる。これにより、通気部42からの気体の、カバー部4内部への流入が抑制される。また、それまでカバー部4の内部にあった気体が吸い上げられるため、空気経路から気体が流出する。
 このような吸気時には、空気経路から気体が流出するため、圧力センサ33は基準電圧より低い電圧を出力する。したがって、比較回路35の出力はHigh信号である。このような場合、発振信号は図示しない電力線を介して基板341に伝えられる。そして、発振信号は、基板341から板金端子343を介して接続端子301(302)に出力される。使用時において、呼気検知ユニット3の接続端子301,302と霧化ユニット2の接続端子211,212とは導通状態であるので、発振信号が、振動子21に伝えられ、振動子21が振動する。その結果、メッシュ252により霧化された薬液を含んだ気体が、マウスピース41を通って、ユーザの口内に流入する。
 (機能ユニットを装着しない場合のネブライザの構成について)
 機能ユニットすなわち呼気検知ユニット3を装着しない場合のネブライザの構成について説明する。
 図14を参照して、ネブライザ2000は、呼気検知ユニット3を含まず、本体ユニット1と、本体ユニット1と分離可能な霧化ユニット2とで構成される。ネブライザ2000は、ネブライザとしての基本機能のみを実現する装置といえる。本実施の形態において、このようなネブライザを、「基本仕様のネブライザ」ともいう。ネブライザ2000は、たとえば、出願人が製造販売しているメッシュ式ネブライザNE-U22の構成と同様であってよい。
 なお、ネブライザ2000を使用する際には、上述のカバー部4に代えて、吸入を補助するための吸入マスク部(図示せず)などが、霧化ユニット2を覆うように装着されてもよい。
 図15を参照して、ネブライザ2000では、本体ユニット1の発振回路16が発振信号を出力すると、そのまま、霧化ユニット2の振動子21に伝えられる。したがって、連続的に発振信号が出力されると、ユーザの呼吸状態に関わりなく、薬液が連続的に噴霧される。
 図16を参照して、ネブライザ2000では、本体ユニット1の上面の接続端子101(102)および凸部103は、それぞれ、霧化ユニット2の下面の接続端子211(212)および凹部213と接続可能である。
 上述のように、本体ユニット1の上面の接続端子101,102および凸部103の形状は、それぞれ、呼気検知ユニット3の上面の接続端子301,302および凸部303の形状と同様であったため、本体ユニット1と霧化ユニット2とを、物理的にも電気的にも接続することができる。
 なお、本実施の形態のネブライザ2000は、基本機能のみを実現する装置として説明したが、2つのユニットが分離可能なネブライザであれば、基本機能のみを実現する装置に限定されるものではない。つまり、たとえば、本体ユニット1および霧化ユニット2の少なくともいずれか一方に、薬液の霧化という基本機能以外の付加的機能を実現可能な他の構成が含まれていてもよい。ただし、その場合、他の構成を含むことにより装置が大型化しないことが条件とされる。
 [実施の形態2]
 次に、本発明の実施の形態2について説明する。
 上記実施の形態1では、基本仕様のネブライザ(本体ユニットと霧化ユニット)に着脱可能な機能ユニットとして、呼気検知ユニットを採用したが、本実施の形態では、噴霧の強度を制御するためのパワー制御ユニットを採用する。
 なお、本実施の形態においても、パワー制御ユニット以外の構成および動作は、基本的に、実施の形態1のネブライザ1000と同様である。したがって、以下に、実施の形態1と異なる部分のみ説明する。
 図17を参照して、本実施の形態におけるネブライザ1000Aは、本体ユニット1と、霧化ユニット2と、これらのユニット間に装着可能なパワー制御ユニット5とを含む。
 パワー制御ユニット5は、その前面に、噴霧の強度を調整するためにユーザにより操作される操作部50が配置されている。操作部50は、たとえば、3段階の強度の指示を受付けるための3つのスイッチ、すなわち、強(High設定)スイッチ51,ノーマルスイッチ52,弱(Low設定)スイッチ53を含む。なお、ノーマルスイッチ52は設けなくてもよい。
 図18は、ネブライザ1000Aの回路構成の一例を示すブロック図である。本体ユニット1および霧化ユニット2の構成は、実施の形態1と同様である。
 パワー制御ユニット5は、上記操作部50に加え、霧化部(振動子21、ステップホーン250、メッシュ252)による単位時間当たりの噴霧量を調整するための振幅調整部57をさらに含む。
 振幅調整部57は、本体ユニット1の発振回路16からの発振信号を入力し、ユーザからの指示に応じて、入力された発振信号を増幅/減幅する。つまり、ユーザが強スイッチ51を押下すると、入力された発振信号を増幅する。ユーザが弱スイッチ53を押下すると、入力された発振信号を減幅する。ユーザがノーマルスイッチ52を押下すると、振幅の調整は行なわない。
 振幅調整部57は、上記機能を実現するために、たとえば、可変抵抗54と、スイッチ端子55と、オペアンプ56とを含む。ユーザがいずれかのスイッチを押下すると、押下されたスイッチに応じて、3つのスイッチ端子55のうち1つが選択される。
 振幅調整部57は、振幅が調整された発振信号を振動子21に出力する。振動子21は、伝えられた発振信号の振幅が大きいほど、霧化部による一定時間当たりの噴霧量が大きくなる。そのため、発振信号の出力時間が固定(一定時間)でなく、一定量の薬液を霧化する場合には、結果的に薬剤の吸入時間を短縮することができる。したがって、本実施の形態によると、ユーザが、噴霧量または吸入時間を調整することができる。
 その結果、薬剤の特質(粘性)、ユーザの年齢、あるいは、ユーザの体調等に応じて、適切な噴霧量または吸入時間を選択することができる。
 たとえば、粘性の高い薬液の場合、霧化部(特にメッシュ252)の構造上、そうでない場合に比べて噴霧し難い傾向がある。薬液貯留部260に貯留されている薬液の粘性が高い場合High設定(強スイッチ51)にし、逆に、低い場合Low設定(弱スイッチ53)にすることで、適切な噴霧量を実現することができる。
 また、ユーザが成人であればHigh設定にし、子供や老人であればLow設定にすることで、ユーザに適した噴霧量とすることができる。
 また、ユーザが短時間で薬剤を吸入したい場合High設定にし、ゆっくり吸入した場合にLow設定にすることで、ユーザの体調やそのときの気分に応じて、ユーザは最適な吸入時間を選択することができる。
 また、患者の状態(治療経過、改善状況)が変化したり、あるいは、新たな薬剤を投与する必要性が生じたりした場合などにも、High設定またはLow設定にすることで、適切な噴霧量または吸入時間とすることができる。
 なお、パワー制御ユニット5が、本体ユニット1および霧化ユニット2と電気的接続を可能にするための構成(中継部の構成)は、呼気検知ユニット3と同様であってよい。
 また、パワー制御ユニット5の上面には、呼気検知ユニット3の凸部303と同一形状の凸部(図示せず)を有しており、パワー制御ユニット5の下面には、呼気検知ユニット3の凹部313と同一形状の凹部(図示せず)を有しているものとする。
 本実施の形態では、発振信号の振幅の調整により、噴霧量や吸入時間を調整できることとしたが、発振信号の周波数を調整してもよい。
 [実施の形態3]
 次に、本発明の実施の形態3について説明する。
 本実施の形態では、基本仕様のネブライザ(本体ユニットと霧化ユニット)に着脱可能な機能ユニットとして、延長コードユニットを採用する。
 なお、本実施の形態においても、延長コードユニット以外の構成および動作は、基本的に、実施の形態1と同様である。したがって、以下に、実施の形態1と異なる部分のみ説明する。
 図19を参照して、本実施の形態におけるネブライザ1000Bは、本体ユニット1と、霧化ユニット2と、これらのユニット間に装着可能な延長コードユニット6とを含む。
 延長コードユニット6は、延長コード620と、延長コード620を収納するための収納部を含むハウジング600とを含む。
 ハウジング600の下面には、本体ユニット1の接続端子101,102と接続するための接続端子611,612が配置されている。延長コード620の一端は、接続端子611,612と接続されている。延長コード620の他端は、接続端子601,602と接続されている。
 接続端子611,612は、呼気検知ユニット3の接続端子311,312と同様の形状を有している。接続端子601,602は、呼気検知ユニット3の接続端子301,302と同様の形状を有している。したがって、延長コードユニット6は、本体ユニット1と霧化ユニット2とが分離されても、これらを電気的に接続することができる。延長コードユニット6は、実施の形態1,2で説明した中継部の機能を果たす。
 本実施の形態のネブライザ1000Bによると、本体ユニット1を机上に置いたまま、霧化ユニット2(あるいは、図示しない吸入マスク部)を把持して使用することができる。これにより、患者が寝た状態での吸入を行ない易くすることができる。また、握力の弱いユーザであっても、一人で薬剤を吸入することができる。
 <実施の形態1~3による効果>
 以上のように、本発明の実施の形態1~3によると、基本仕様のネブライザに、噴霧状態を変えるための機能ユニット(呼気検知ユニット,パワー制御ユニット)や、使用方法を変えるための機能ユニット(延長コードユニット)を挿入することができる。これにより、薬液の霧化という基本機能に、ユーザや薬剤の特性に適した付加的機能を容易に追加することができる。
 したがって、ユーザは、基本仕様のネブライザを既に保有していたとすると、希望の付加機能を果たすことのできる機能ユニットを追加で購入するだけでよい。通常、霧化ユニットの振動子やメッシュが高価である。したがって、機能ユニットを基本仕様のネブライザに追加できることで、ユーザの金銭的な負担を軽減することができる。また、その結果、ユーザが保有していたネブライザを効率的に使用することができる。
 また、ユーザに適した(必要な)機能のみを基本仕様のネブライザに追加できる。したがって、ネブライザ本体に、複数の付加的機能が盛り込まれている場合(ユニットの分離が不可能な場合)に比べて、装置を小型化することができる。
 また、患者の状態(治療経過、改善状況)の変化により、必要であった機能が不要になる場合もある。本実施の形態によると、不要になった機能ユニットをいつでも外すことができるので、ユーザの利便性を高めることができる。
 また、たとえば、機能ユニットに不具合が生じた場合でも、機能ユニットだけを修理に出したり交換したりすることができる。その結果、ネブライザ全体を修理に出すよりも、ユーザの負担を軽減することができる。メーカにとっても、必要最小限の交換で済むため都合が良い。
 また、機能ユニットを修理に出している間も、ユーザは、基本仕様のネブライザは使用することができる。そのため、発作時に緊急で薬剤を吸入する必要が生じた場合でも、ネブライザを使用できないという不都合を解消することができる。
 また、家庭内や院内でネブライザを使用する場合と、緊急時の吸入に備えてネブライザを携行する場合とがある。前者の場合には、所望の機能ユニットを挿入して使用し、後者の場合には、基本仕様のネブライザのみを携行することもできる。その結果、ユーザ自身で、使用状況に応じて、様々な形態でネブライザを使用することができる。
 また、メーカは、様々な機能ユニットを単体で製造販売することができる。
 <変形例>
 なお、機能ユニットは、実施の形態1~3に示した例に限定されない。機能ユニットは、実施の形態1で説明したような中継部(本体ユニットと霧化ユニットとを電気的に接続するための構成)を少なくとも有していれば、他の付加的機能を実現するものであってもよい。
 たとえば、霧化ユニットの噴霧状態を変更する機能ユニットとして、無調整時の発振信号の振幅を検出し、検出された振幅に応じて、発振信号の振幅の調整を行なうユニットが提供されてもよい。薬液の種類や渇水により振動子のインピーダンスが変化することがある。インピーダンスが変化すると、発振信号に影響を及ぼす。したがって、無調整時の発振信号の振幅が、基準値よりも所定値以上小さい場合、発振信号の振幅を増幅することとしてよい。このような場合、霧化対象の薬液は標準よりも粘性が高いと考えられるためである。逆に、無調整時の発振信号の振幅が、基準値よりも所定値以上大きい場合、発振信号の振幅を減幅することとしてよい。このような場合、霧化対象の薬液は標準よりも粘性が低いと考えられるためである。あるいは、発振信号の振幅の変化を検出し、振幅が急激に増大した場合には、本体ユニットの動作を停止することとしてもよい。
 あるいは、ネブライザの使用方法を変更する機能ユニットとして、上記した霧化ユニットが噴霧する薬液とは別の薬液を噴霧するための第2の霧化ユニットが提供されてもよい。これにより、異なる2種類の薬液を同時に吸入するような治療方法にも適用可能となる。
 あるいは、他種の機能ユニットとして、吸入時間の経過情報や最適な吸入タイミングを報知(たとえば表示)するための報知部を有するユニットが提供されてもよい。
 また、上記実施の形態1~3では、本体ユニットと霧化ユニットとの間に、1つの機能ユニットを挿入する例を説明した。しかしながら、全ての機能ユニットが、統一された形状の接続端子を有しているため、2つ以上の機能ユニットを挿入することも可能である。たとえば、本体ユニット側にパワー制御ユニット、霧化ユニット側に呼気検知ユニットを挿入してもよい。その場合、パワー制御後の発振信号を、呼吸状態に応じて霧化ユニットに出力することができる。
 なお、上記各実施の形態では、メッシュ式のネブライザを例に説明したが、超音波式のネブライザであってもよい。
 今回開示された実施の形態はすべての点で例示であって制限的なものではないと考えられるべきである。本発明の範囲は上記した説明ではなくて請求の範囲によって示され、請求の範囲と均等の意味および範囲内でのすべての変更が含まれることが意図される。

  1.  薬液を噴霧するためのネブライザ(1000,1000A,1000B)であって、
     第1および第2のユニット(2,1)を備え、
     前記第1および第2のユニットは、分離可能であり、
     前記第1のユニットは、
      薬液を貯留するための貯留部(260)と、
      前記貯留部内の薬液を霧化することにより、薬液を噴霧するための霧化部(21)とを含み、
     前記第2のユニットは、前記霧化部を動作させる制御を行なうための制御部(15)を含み、
     ネブライザの付加的機能を実現するための第3のユニット(3,5,6)をさらに備え、
     前記第3のユニットは、前記第1のユニットと前記第2のユニットとの間に着脱可能である、ネブライザ。
  2.  前記第3のユニットは、前記制御部と前記霧化部とを電気的に接続するための中継部(341,342,343)を含む、請求の範囲第1項に記載のネブライザ。
  3.  前記第3のユニットは、前記付加的機能として、前記霧化部による噴霧状態を変更する機能を実現する、請求の範囲第2項に記載のネブライザ。
  4.  前記第3のユニットは、
     ユーザの呼吸状態を検知するための検知部(33)と、
     前記検知部による検知結果に応じて、吸気の場合にのみ、前記霧化部に薬液を霧化させるための霧化制御部とをさらに含む、請求の範囲第3項に記載のネブライザ。
  5.  前記霧化部は、薬液を霧化するために駆動される振動子(21)を有し、
     前記第2のユニットは、前記制御部からの指示に応じて、前記振動子を振動させるための発振信号を出力する発振部(16)をさらに含み、
     前記霧化制御部は、前記発振部が出力した前記発振信号を入力し、吸気の場合にのみ入力した前記発振信号を前記振動子に転送する、請求の範囲第4項に記載のネブライザ。
  6.  前記第3のユニットは、前記霧化部による単位時間当たりの噴霧量を調整するための調整部(57)を有する、請求の範囲第3項に記載のネブライザ。

  9.  前記第3のユニットは、前記付加的機能として、前記ネブライザの使用方法を変更する機能を実現する、請求の範囲第2項に記載のネブライザ。
  10.  第1および第2のユニット(2,1)を備えたネブライザに着脱可能な、ネブライザの付加的機能を実現するための機能ユニット(3,5,6)であって、前記第1のユニットは、薬液を貯留するための貯留部(260)と、前記貯留部内の薬液を霧化することにより、薬液を噴霧するための霧化部(21)とを含み、前記第2のユニットは、前記霧化部を動作させる制御を行なうための制御部(15)を含んでおり、
     前記制御部と前記霧化部とを電気的に接続するための中継部(341,342,343)を備える、機能ユニット。
