Abstract

La présente invention concerne une souche de Saccharomyces cerevisiae MTCC 5452 capable de fermenter un sucre C5 qui n'est pas une souche génétiquement modifiée. La présente invention concerne également un procédé de fermentation pour produire de l'éthanol avec ladite souche, qui comprend l'incubation d'une culture de Saccharomyces cerevisiae MTCC 5452 avec un milieu de fermentation comprenant au moins une source carbonée de sucre C5 dans des conditions de pH, de température et de fermentation favorables pendant une durée suffisante, pour obtenir de l'éthanol avec une productivité plus élevée.
