Abstract

A system containing a combination of dish antennae, digital compass, GPS transmitter and GP server to transmit from land to a mobile object so as to enable the recipient to be in a state of art support system to boost the morale of the traveler

Description

1.0 Introduction
Sailors not only have to travel around in deep sea but also have to stay on offshore for extensive period for professional reason. The lengthy habitation on sea water is not ruled out even for leisure travelers on yatch or luxury liners. Naval or defense personnel working on sub marines, ships, sea spot organizers e.g. scuba drivers, Life guards - rescuers, oil exploration team members, sea mining, voyagers, etc also spend lot of time on sea.
Who so ever spends long duration on surface of sea water with no sight of land for days together often suffers from sea sickness i.e. Motion sickness or kinetosis which a condition in which a disagreement exists between visually perceived movement and the vestibular system's sense of movement. (Historic Proof - Columbus, Vasco da Gamma, Captain Cook hence got deviated from route but landed up discovering new lands)
1.1 Kinetosis & MaI de debarquement
More over when ever such a passenger/ sailor lands on landmass he suffers from MaI de debarquement (or MaI de debarquement) syndrome (MdDS, or disembarkment syndrome) which is a rare condition usually occurring after a cruise, aircraft flight, or other sustained motion event.
Symptoms most frequently reported include a persistent sensation of motion usually described as rocking, swaying, or bobbing; difficulty maintaining balance; extreme fatigue; and difficulty concentrating ("brain fog"). Other common symptoms include dizziness, headaches and/or migraine headaches, confusion, and anxiety
Motion sickness on the sea can result from being in the berth of a rolling boat without being able to see the horizon. Sudden jerky movements tend to be worse for provoking motion sickness than slower smooth ones, because they disrupt the fluid balance more-A "corkscrewing" boat will upset more people than one that is gliding smoothly across the oncoming waves
When feeling motion but not seeing it (for example, in a ship with no windows), the inner car transmits to the brain that it senses motion, but the eyes tell the brain that everything is still. As a result of the discordance, the brain will come to the conclusion that one of them is hallucinating. One's sensory perception gets out of synch as these nerve fibers attempt to compensate for the unfamiliar motion of the ship moving through water.
The movement of a boat on a fluid sea creates stress in the portions of the brain responsible for balance. Perhaps that stress causes the brain to start malfunctioning as the land based environment it understands is suddenly not behaving as it should.
The visual stimulus is misleading as it reports things like cabin walls, and furniture, in such a way that the brain interprets these things as stable when they're not. One's brain is being told by the vision system that the world is stable, while the inner ear is screaming that it's not.
The condition often disappears without medical treatment within a few days. As one's brain learns to compensate for the swaying and pitching of the boat you will get your "sea legs".
One unfortunate aspect is that after a prolonged period at sea it may take a while for one to adjust to being on terra firma again.
Overall this toggling from terra firma to sea and vice versa affects the traveller psychologically and physically. Subsequently it brings down his efficiencies, productivity and associated direct and indirect losses.
2.0 Why THIS Solution
If your eyes see what your ears are feeling, you will certainly have a better chance of avoiding the worst effects of seasickness
Thus remedy to nullify kinetosis can be achieved by permitting the frequent sailor to access the view on demand media on a display device, online games involving lot of movement of characters, medical support through internet, offline duplex communication with friends and relatives through radio channel or mobile or V sat network.
A unique solution has been produced to cater this issue with combination of current digital era technology and health and entertainment services. This holistic approach helps not only the person on board but even to the fleet management company to keep the morale high in case of facing pirates, storm or tsunami or any man made or natural disaster by evoking the support system and wiping out the feeling of loneliness and motion sickness. The SOS save our soul messages can be send to the nearest defense ship and precious lives can be saved.
3.0 Technological Limitation
Most of Dish TV solution prevailing in the market is meant for stationary locations at the receiving end. This is a relatively simple operation if the satellite dish is being fixed to the side of a house, but much more complex if it is on a ship, which is continually turning, at varying distances from the equator, and rocking from side to side.
Thus in case of mobile object such as sailing ship or vehicle on road these solutions fail as the A/V signal falls under eclipse zone of satellite. The dish being fixed and tuned in a particular angular state does not capture the signal from satellite. It is next to impossible to fine tune the orientation of the object on move to a single satellite and capture the signal. Else one needs input from multiple satellites which is very expensive and not available easily.
More over moment the mobile object reaches the vicinity of the port due to blockage of line of site due to surrounding structures the signal quality get affected. In addition, the communication system of the object on move e.g. ship sometime interfere with the satellite signal leading to chaos.
4.0 Methodology
The invention incorporates an intelligent and revolving dish antenna synchronous with GPS co-ordinate of the mobile object . It has a built in digital compass or earth explorer where each and every location on the earth is mapped to a centrally operated GPS server. The mobile object is fitted with a GPS transmitter which keeps sending the real-time location of the mobile object to the mapped satellite which transmits it further to the nearest GPS media server. On verification of the received inputs the GPS server transmits back the desired content mean for viewing/downloading valid within the perimeter of that coordinate. The friends and relative of the person traveling on the mobile object can record their messages, photo etc send it to the desired traveler through this duplex network. The recipient will get it nearly real time on verification. The on board traveler can enjoy the medical support system as basic service or premium depend upon service provider.
The integrated, near real time, bi-directional connectivity service involving weather updates, sea depth, leisure & entertainment, health, education etc can be prevailed by becoming member of an "X-COMPASS exchange" under premium and basic category for nominal charges. The individual on board subscriber can enjoy basic service as built in passenger fare charges. However premier service he may have to pay to captain / in-charge of touring mobile object.
VSAT systems can be used to bring high definition television, voice calls and low cost internet connections to boats, kayaks, ferry, fishermen vessel etc
The biggest difficulty in achieving this is that the satellite terminal needs to point right at the satellite with considerable accuracy; geostationary satellites must be placed above the equator, which means that the satellite dish must point south when in the Northern hemisphere and vice versa. It is also possible to have a dedicated geostationary satellite for this purpose in future
