Abstract

Es wird ein Brenner (10) für eine thermische Nachverbrennungsvorrichtung beschrieben, der in bekannter Weise eine in einem Gehäuse (12) angeordnete Brenndüse (1) aufweist. Auf dem Endbereich des Gehäuses (12) ist eine Verwirbelungseinrichtung (13) angeordnet, die von dem zu reinigenden Abgas durchströmbar ist. Die Brenndüse (1) umfasst ein Außenrohr (2) und ein Innenrohr (3), wobei der Zwischenraum zwischen diesen beiden Rohren (2, 3) bis zu einem ringförmigen Austrittsspalt (4) in deren Endbereich von Brenngas durchströmbar ist. Der Strömungsweg für das Brenngas weist in der Nähe des Austrittsspalts (4) eine Engstelle auf. Auf diese Weise lässt sich eine kompakte Flamme erzielen, deren Form als "glockenförmig" bezeichnet werden kann und die bei einem gegebenen Volumen eine verhältnismäßig kleine Oberfläche aufweist. Obwohl eine derartige Flamme nach herkömmlicher Ansicht schlechte CO-Werte besitzt, sorgt die Verwirbelungseinrichtung (13) dazu, dass das Abgas in der Flamme mit sehr niedrigen NOX- und CO-Werten ver- brennt.
