Definitions
- This invention relates to a Diesel fuel. This invention further relates to the use of such Diesel fuel. This invention even further relates to a method of preparing such fuel as an additive to a combustion engine. This invention even further relates to a method of heating. This invention even further relates to a method cooking with a wick. This invention even further relates to a method of lighting with a wick.
- US patent number 4,908,044 discloses a semi-solid ethanol based fuel produced entirely from vegetable products.
- This fuel contains 86.1% ethanol by weight, 2.2% water by weight and 11.7% sodium salts by weight.
- the fuel is formed by producing ethanol from a vegetable product ; producing sweetwater as a by-product from the ethanol containing plant, and mixing the sweetwater with the ethanol. The mixing is performed in two different mixing chambers having different rotating speeds and different temperatures. 2.1.1.
- a disadvantage of the above fuel is that it only contains 2.2% water by weight and therefore a relative high percentage of ethanol.. The high percentage of ethanol increases the cost of the fuel.
- a disadvantage of the method of manufacturing this fuel is that it is a relatively complex procedure since the ethanol and the sodium salts are normally not a compatible mixture.
- US patent number 4,261,700 discloses a gelled fuel suitable for igniting wood and charcoal.
- the gelled fuel consists of 42% water and 92% monohydric alcohol, 0.5% to 0.6% of a water-soluble gelling agent, up to about 24% water and 0.5% to 30% propellant.
- This fuel is a gelled structure, which forms a shape retaining mass upon contact with water or charcoal.
- a disadvantage of this gelled fuel is that the alcohol , of which a major part is ethanol, is produced synthetically through a chemical process, which is potentially hazardous to the environment. 3.
- An advantage of this fuel is that the raw materials is produced synthetically through a separation process which is environment friendly and non hazardous.
- the composition including between 40% and 45% C 9 - C 13 on a mass basis produced through a process of fermentation of a carbohydrate source from a paraffin solution;
- composition may further include 10% and 15% of the C14 , C 20 agent on a mass per mass basis for the final paraffin and wax-coupling agent.
- a fire cooking composition according to the aspect of the portable cooking device using a wick.
- the method may include the further step of adding between 1% and 5% ethanol to change the combustion application to accommodate alternative applications.
- the method may include the further step of adding an insect-repelling agent such as citronella oil to the composition.
- Table 1 shows results obtained from tests performed as to the characteristics of the composition
- the composition is relative easy to use and store. It is further environmentally friendly since it is substantially smokeless and non — toxic in low dosages. Further advantages of the composition are that it is safe and relatively effective for rapid cooking and heating, there are limited inorganic residues to be disposed of once the composition has burnt out, the composition is non- flaring when it is set alight and it is non - explosive. Non- ignitable with open flame.
- composition could be used for a wide range of purposes, for example, in squeeze type bottles, which are easily transported to allow for economical and easy cooking of meals.
- composition also delays the burning of wood when applied to the wood some time before ignited.
- the method includes the optional further step of adding to the composition: 31.1. an insect repelling agent such as citronella oil
- fire starter/ fuel/ cooking composition could be used for a wide range of purposes, for example, in stoves, heating devices, lamps, combustion diesel engines, heaters and turbine engines.
