Abstract

본 발명은 블록 변환을 이용한 영상 부호화/복호화 방법 및 장치에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 영상을 부호화하는 장치에 있어서, 영상의 현재 블록의 각 화소를 현재 블록을 부호화하기 전에 부호화되고 결정된 예측 방향으로 각 화소와 가장 인접한 하나 이상의 인접 화소를 이용하여 예측하여 영상을 부호화하되, 현재 블록은 L X M 크기의 블록이며, L의 값과 M의 값은 같지 않은 것을 특징으로 하는 영상 부호화 장치를 제공한다. 본 발명에 의하면, 블록 내의 화소를 공간 예측 방향으로 가장 인접한 화소로부터 예측할 수 있어, 블록의 예측 정확도를 높여 압축 효율을 향상시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 그를 통해 영상을 효율적으로 부호화하거나 복호화할 수 있다.
