Abstract
The invention relates to an undershot or breast-shot water wheel with a horizontal hub, wherein blade arrangements for converting motion energy and optionally also positional energy of the flowing water into a rotational movement of the water wheel are provided along the periphery of the wheel, characterized in that the blade arrangements (15) each comprise an outer (a) and at least one inner (b, c) paddle blade (23), wherein the inner paddle blades (b, c) are offset from the periphery of the wheel inward and against the direction of flow (1) of the water (7).
