Abstract
This invention relates to wind and water turbines. More particularly, the invention relates to a Straight Darrieus vertical axis wind turbine having a shaft rotating about a vertical axis, and at least three turbine blades attached to the shaft by way of blade arms, the blade arms being rigidly secured to the shaft. The blades are arranged about the shaft at substantially equal angular intervals, and are at least partially located in different horizontal planes in order for at least part of each blade to be in a flow path that is swept by that blade only.
