Abstract

The invention relates to a variable piece of furniture (10) comprising at least two seat elements (14, 18, 45) upon each of which one person may sit, wherein at least one seat element may be moved back and forth between a first and a second position. The application relates to a variable piece of furniture with at least two seat elements, on each of which a person can take a seat, wherein at least one seat member between a first and a second position back and forth is displaced.

Such pieces of furniture are known for example in the form of sofas, in which a seat element can be pivoted by 90 ° about a vertical pivot axis. This gives the opportunity to vary the geometry of the piece of furniture, so that, for example, a straight-lined sofa can be converted into a corner sofa with two legs aligned perpendicular to each other. A corner sofa with two legs oriented perpendicular to one another, in which one leg can be moved back and forth between a first position aligned perpendicular to the other leg and a second position aligned parallel to the other leg, is known from the patent DE 100 01 558 C1.

A person sitting comfortably on a seat element generally has a viewing direction predetermined by the orientation of the seat element. The piece of furniture usually occupies a predetermined position in the room. As a result, the viewing direction of the person sitting on the seat element is ultimately determined by the arrangement of the piece of furniture in the room. A user of the piece of furniture must therefore very carefully consider how he arranges the piece of furniture in the room, because by the piece of furniture, the space is divided into two different areas, the piece of furniture is easily accessible only from one area and persons, sitting on the piece of furniture, facing only one of the two areas. Communication with people in the other area is made more difficult.

Object of the present invention is to develop a piece of furniture of the type mentioned in such a way that it has improved possibilities of variation and thereby counteracts a positioning in the middle of a room of a rigid subdivision of the space into two separate areas.

This object is achieved in a piece of furniture of the generic type according to the invention that the at least one seat member is displaced so that a person can take place either from a first page or from a first side opposite the second side of the piece of furniture on the seat element.

In the invention, the idea flows in that a rigid subdivision of a space in an area in front of the piece of furniture and an area behind the piece of furniture can be counteracted by at least one seat element can be changed in its orientation by 180 °. This gives a person the opportunity to take place either from a first or from an opposite second side of the piece of furniture on the seat element. The person taking the seat can turn to the room area in front of the piece of furniture or the space behind the piece of furniture by simply shifting the seat element. It is advantageous if the at least one displaceable seat element is pivotable about at least 180 ° about a vertical axis. Preferably, the at least one displaceable seat element is at least 270 ° pivotable about a vertical axis. In particular, it can be provided that the at least one displaceable seat element is pivotable through 360 ° about a vertical axis. The variations and applications of the piece of furniture are thereby considerably improved. The piece of furniture can be positioned in the middle of a room, and yet all room areas are easily accessible from the seat element by displacing the seat element.

A further simplification of the handling of the piece of furniture during displacement of the at least one seat element is achieved in an advantageous embodiment in that the first backrest part is pivotable at the transition of the displaceable seat element from the first position to the second position in the direction away from an immediately adjacent seat element direction.

It can also be provided that the first backrest part is pivotable in the transition of the displaceable seat element from the first position to the second position in the direction of an immediately adjacent seat element facing direction.

The piece of furniture preferably comprises at least a first, displaceable seat element and at least one second, non-displaceable seat element. It is particularly favorable if the piece of furniture has at least two seat elements which are displaceable in such a way that a person can optionally take a seat on a respective seat element from a first side or from a second side of the furniture opposite the first side. This improves the variations and applications of the piece of furniture. By relocating the respective seat element, at least two persons sitting on the piece of furniture can optionally turn to a room area in front of the piece of furniture or even a space behind the piece of furniture.

Conveniently, a further seat element is arranged between the two displaceable seat elements. The further seat element may for example be designed such that it has neither an armrest nor a backrest. This gives the user the opportunity not only to occupy a seated position on one of the two displaceable seat elements, but he can also assume a lying position, wherein he claimed in addition to a movable seat element and the other seat element.

The further seat element is preferably held immobile.

The storage of the at least one displaceable seat element is preferably carried out via a slotted guide. This increases the mechanical strength of the piece of furniture. The risk that the displaceable seat element canted during its movement can be kept low by the slotted guide. The slotted guide allows the user to relocate the seat element without much effort.

The link guide allows a movable mounting of the at least one seat element to a support member. The latter may for example have a link plate with at least one guide groove in which a sliding block held on the seat element is displaceable.

Preferably, the slotted guide on a straight and a curved guide groove, in each of which a sliding block is displaceable. The piece of furniture can be designed in a variety of forms. It is particularly advantageous if the furniture is upholstered.

In the figures 1 to 5, an inventive piece of furniture in the form of a sofa 10 is shown schematically. The sofa 10 is L-shaped in plan view and has a first leg 11 and a second leg 12, which are aligned at right angles to each other. The sofa 10 has a total of five seating elements. A first seat element 14 is arranged in the connection area between the two legs 11 and 12 and can be arranged between a first position, which is illustrated in Figure 1, and a second position, which is shown in Figure 5, are shifted back and forth.
