Definitions
- the invention relates to film materials that experience a color change when integrity is violated, in particular, to packaging materials with an indication of the integrity of the package.
- the main purpose of such materials is to prevent prohibited or dangerous items from being placed in passenger baggage after baggage has been controlled by airport security.
- packaging material with an indication of package integrity comprising a first polymer film, one of the planes of which is adjacent a second polymer film (US Pat. US 4,685,578, 1987).
- the polymer films are welded to each other by a plurality of long intersecting seams, forming a plurality of sealed capsules between the polymer films.
- the cells through one are filled with the first reagent and the second reagent, which when mixed with the first reagent causes a visually observed color change of one of these materials.
- the cells should have sufficiently small dimensions, for example, not more than 8 - 12 mm across, in order to exclude the possibility of a sufficiently long straight cut along the seam between the cells.
- the manufacturing process of such a material is complicated due to the need to fill the cells with small doses (about 0.01 ml) of different reagents when welding the first and second films.
- this material leaves it possible to access luggage through a slot in cells with the same reagent. If in this case none of the cells with the second reagent is damaged, the color indication of damage to the integrity of the package will not occur. Disclosure THERf Iveptiop Technical Problem
- An object of the present invention is to provide a packaging material with an indication of the integrity of the packaging, which can be manufactured using simpler technology and at the same time eliminates the possibility of undetected damage to the integrity of the packaging. Disclosure of invention
- a plurality of sealed capsules filled with the first reagent is characterized in that a layer of porous material is deposited on the second side of the first layer of the polymer film and impregnated with a second reagent which interacts with the first reagent results in the formation of the reaction product, whose presence can be easily detected.
- the presence of the reaction product can be easily detected visually.
- the reaction product is provided, for example, due to the fact that the first reagent is a liquid alkaline solution, and the second reagent is phenolphthalein. In another embodiment, the first reagent is an ammonia solution.
- first and second polymer films each be double-layer, where one layer forms a polymer with good weldability, and the second layer is a polymer of high strength, while the films are adjacent to each other with layers of polymer with good weldability.
- a polymer with good weldability may be selected from the group of polymers including plastomers and elastomers, and a high strength polymer selected from the group comprising high density polyethylene, polypropylene and polyamide.
- the polymer with good weldability is low density polyethylene
- the high strength polymer is high density polyethylene
- the second polymer film is welded to the first polymer film by means of many seams, which can be in the form of broken lines, consisting of many consecutive straight sections, the length of any of which does not exceed 15 mm, or the shape of curved lines whose radius of curvature does not exceed 10 mm.
- the seams divide the material into a plurality of hexagonal cells.
- the layer of porous material may be a polypropylene-rayon fabric or a polyethylene-rayon fabric, which is soldered to the second plane of the first polymer film by means of many elongated intersecting seams.
- the material is in the form of a long roll-wound strip, divided into segments by transverse welds provided with weakened sections to allow manual separation of the material from the roll. Description of graphic material
- FIG. 1 is an example of a cross-sectional view of a material structure
- FIG. 2 image of the material with a pattern of the arrangement of cells of a hexagonal shape
- FIG. 3 image of the material with a pattern of the arrangement of cells of a circular shape.
- the packaging material with packaging integrity indication comprises a first polymer film 1, which comprises a first layer 2 of low density polyethylene and a second layer 3 of high polyethylene density (Fig. 1). Adjacent to the first layer 2 of film 1 is a layer 4 of low density polyethylene of a second polymer film 5, which also contains a second layer 6 of high density polyethylene.
- the polymer films 1 and 5 are welded to each other by means of many long intersecting seams, dividing the gap between the polymer films into many sealed capsules 7, filled with the first reagent 8, for example, aqueous ammonia.
- a layer of porous material 9 impregnated with a second reagent for example, phenolphthalein
- the first and second reagents are selected so that during their interaction a reaction product is formed, the presence of which can be easily visually recorded. So, in the interaction of an ammonia solution with phenolphthalein, which is impregnated with the porous material 9, the latter is painted in raspberry color.
- the layers of films 1 and 5 have a thickness of 10 - 15 ⁇ m each, while layers 2 and 4 of low density polyethylene provide good weldability of the films, and layers 3 and 6 of high density polyethylene provide high film strength.
- the polymer films 1 and 5 are welded to each other by means of a plurality of seams, which may be in the form of broken lines, consisting of many short consecutive rectilinear sections, or the shape of curved lines with a small radius of curvature of curved lines which does not exceed 10 mm.
- FIG. 2 shows a material in which seams divide the material into a plurality of hexagonal cells 10, and in FIG. 3 - into many round cells 11.
- the transverse size of the cells 10 or 11 may be from 8 to 15 mm or other.
- the layer 9 of the porous material is a polypropylene-viscose fabric, a polyethylene-viscose fabric or a fabric of any other material having both weldability with the material of the layer 6 of the polymer film 7 and porosity.
- This layer can be welded to the film 7 both over its entire surface, and through many seams. The latter case is preferable because it allows the simultaneous welding of all three components of the material - film 1, film 5 and layer 9.
- the material is made in the form of a long strip wound into a roll, divided into segments 12 with a length of 2-3 m by means of transverse welds 13 provided with weakened sections 14, for example, perforation, for easy manual separation of the segments 12 from the roll (Fig. 2 and 3).
- the ammonia solution quickly spreads over a large area of the porous material 9 and stains the phenolphthalein contained in it in a clearly visible visually raspberry color.
- the invention allows for a simpler technology to produce packaging material that eliminates the possibility of imperceptible damage to the package.
