 偏光を生成するための偏光子(6)と、偏光子(6)を挟持するように設けられた一対の保護層(7a及び7b)と、一方の保護層(7a)に設けられ、表面を保護するための保護フィルム(9)と、他方の保護層(7b)に設けられた粘着剤層(8)とを備えた偏光板(10a)であって、一方の保護層(7a)及び保護フィルム(9)の端部には、保護フィルム(9)と一方の保護層(7a)とが密着した密着部(11a)が形成されている。
