Abstract

A linear actuator has a drive motor (2), a shaft section (4) for receiving the drive motor (2), an output member (5) rotatably connected to a rotating shaft (2a) of the drive motor and having, on its outer peripheral surface, a male thread section (5a), a driven member (6) placed on the outer peripheries of the output member and the shaft section and having, on its inner peripheral surface, a female thread section (6a) for receiving rotation of the male thread section, a rotation restriction section (10) for restricting relative rotation between the shaft section and the driven member, and a bearing section (12) for receiving a thrust load acting in the direction (C) of the axis of the rotating shaft. The linear actuator allows highly accurate positioning and feeding without causing the member to fluctuate about the rotation axis of the drive motor, has a relatively long linear motion stroke, has high strength against a thrust load, and enables a device using the actuator to be structured at low cost and compact in size.
