Abstract

 2層以上の記録層を有する情報記録媒体においても、迅速かつ適切な記録・再生を可能とするために、(L0)層~(L2)層を含んでいると共に、(L0)層~(L2)層におけるディフェクトマネジメントエリア(DMA1-0)~(DMA1-2)から構成される96クラスタの記録領域が、交替管理情報(DDS)、及び欠陥リスト(DFL1)~(DFL6)の7つの情報を記録する領域に分割されており、交替管理情報(DDS)、及び欠陥リスト(DFL1)~(DFL6)のそれぞれが、ディフェクトマネジメントエリア(DMA1-0)~(DMA1-2)の記録容量に応じ、層間分離させることなく配置できる限界まで、同一の記録層において連続した領域として配置されている。
