Abstract

 プラズマディスプレイ装置は、維持電極、走査電極およびアドレス電極を第1基板に有するプラズマディスプレイパネルと、プラズマディスプレイパネルを駆動する駆動部とを有している。例えば、駆動部は、サステイン期間に、第1電圧および第2電圧を維持電極に交互に印加するとともに、第2電圧および第1電圧を走査電極に交互に印加する。さらに、駆動部は、サステイン期間に、第1制御電圧をアドレス電極に印加し、サステイン期間の途中で、第1制御電圧と異なる電圧値の第2制御電圧をアドレス電極に印加し、その後、サステイン期間中、アドレス電極を第2制御電圧に維持する。この結果、サステイン放電を確実に発生させることができる。
