Abstract

A device that can accurately detect the conditions of wear of a conveyor belt by using a simple structure and that can, even when the wear progresses, detect the conditions of wear of the conveyor belt with high precision. The conveyor belt (1) has embedded in it a wear detection magnet (13) composed of a tilted rubber magnet (11) tilted relative to both the advancement and thickness directions of the conveyor belt (1) and of a flat plate magnet (12) placed such that the flat plate magnet (12) extends in a plane vertical to the direction of the thickness of the conveyor belt (1) and that the center of the flat plate magnet (12) is placed at a position facing a base end of the tilted rubber magnet (11). The conveyor belt (1) further has embedded in it a reference magnet (14) extending in a plane vertical to the direction of the thickness of the conveyor belt (1) while being separated a predetermined distance from the flat plate magnet (12). A magnetism sensor (15) placed on the surface (1a) side of the conveyor belt (1) detects both the peak of a change in a magnetic field from the wear detection magnet (13) and the peak of a change in a magnetic field from the reference magnet (14), and the conditions of wear of the conveyor belt (1) is detected based on a time interval between the two peaks.
