Abstract

本発明は、液晶配向制御用突起を備える液晶表示装置において、基板に残留した電荷を放電させ、表示ムラを抑制することができる液晶表示装置及びその製造方法を提供する。本発明は、対向して配置された一対の基板と、上記一対の基板間に挟持された液晶層と、上記液晶層の周囲で上記一対の基板を接着するシール材とを有する液晶表示装置であって、上記一対の基板の少なくとも一方は、表示領域に液晶配向制御用突起を備え、表示領域とシール材との間の額縁領域に、液晶配向制御用突起を構成する材料で形成された膜が配置されていない領域を含む液晶表示装置である。
