Abstract

A carbon composite iron oxide briquette for use as a raw material in a rapid-heating reduction furnace, characterized in that the total content of water of crystallization and volatile ingredients in the carbon composite iron oxide briquette is 10.5 mass% or lower (based on the briquette on a dry basis; the same applies hereinafter) and the content of adherent water in the carbon composite iron oxide briquette is 1.0 mass% or lower. Also provided is a process for producing the briquette.
