Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent reduced pellets of iron ore from powdering during calcination in manufacture of the pellets contg. a reducing agent by using iron ore contg. water of crystallization above 1% in average.
CONSTITUTION: In manufacture of reduced pellets of iron ore, iron ore contg. water of crystallization above 1% alone is used as raw ore, or two or more kinds of ores are mixed to regulate the average content of water of crystallization to above 1%. 10W15 wt% of coke breeze as a reducing agent and about 1 wt% of bentonite as a binder are further blended. They are mixed, pelletized, and calcined to manufacture reduced pellets. Pores formed by dehydration of the water at the time of calcination absorb expansion of the ore at the time, thus preventing the pellets from powdering due to abnormal expansion.
