Abstract

 光変調器(100)は、基板(110)と、光導波路(120)と、信号電極(130)と、切替手段と、を備えている。基板(110)は、Zカットされた電気光学結晶基板に光導波路(120)を形成した基板である。信号電極(130)は、光導波路(120)に沿って基板(110)上に設けられることにより光導波路(120)との相互作用部を有する。切替手段は、基板(110)において光導波路(120)の信号電極(130)との相互作用部が形成される部分のうち、所望の波長チャープに応じた割合の領域(100C)の分極方向を切り替える。
