Abstract

　セル（１９）は、垂直基準線（Ｌ）で鋭角αに垂直基準面（Ｐ２）に交差する傾斜基準面（Ｐ１）に沿って直立姿勢のテープカートリッジ（２１）を受け入れる。搬送ユニット（２４）は、傾斜基準面（Ｐ１）に沿って直立姿勢のテープカートリッジ（２１）を出し入れする。その結果、搬送ユニット（２４）が、例えば垂直基準線（Ｌ）で垂直基準面（Ｐ２）に直交する直交基準面に沿ってテープカートリッジ（２１）を出し入れする場合に比べて、搬送ユニット（２４）の姿勢変化は抑制される。しかも、セル（１９）は傾斜基準面（Ｐ１）に沿って直立姿勢のテープカートリッジ（２１）を出し入れする。搬送ユニット（２４）やセル（１９）の占有空間は減少する。その結果、テープライブラリ装置の幅の減少とともにストレージ装置で記憶容量の増大は実現される。
